I was beyond shocked. I was flabbergasted.

Granted, I knew he’d one day find out and that I wouldn’t ever be able to keep that detail from forever, I hadn’t expected that it would be revealed today of all days.

I sat frozen, completely at a loss of what to say. It didn’t take me long to glance away from Jason’s intense gaze. My throat suddenly felt dry and I drank some water, but then I began to cough and Kenny helped me through it by gently patting my back.

"You okay, darling?" Grandma Nini called out and I nodded, knowing nothing would come out if I had attempted to speak. I could still feel Jason’s eyes on me and I made it my mission to avoid it throughout the rest of this dinner.

I exhaled slowly, feeling my hand shake a little around my fork. Kenny’s hand settled on my lap, squeezing a little as if giving me strength silently and I exhaled again.

"I didn’t know he had a child." Jason blurted out after about a minute and I cursed at myself internally. When I glanced up, I noticed he was staring at his grandma.

"Oh, honey. That’s because you stayed away for ages!" She reprimanded at first before continuing. "If you hadn’t, you’d have known my dear Rory this whole time. Rory is an angel, and he does have a child. An adorable son who’s incredibly smart and also cute." She explained and the love in her voice could easily be detected.

"Is that so?" Jason asked after a few minutes and grandma nini nodded eagerly.

"Yes! His name is Niko and he’s so smart, too smart for his age. He reminded me of you to be honest and that made me miss you more during that period he got birthed and I could remember calling you more frequently because I wanted to see you." She continued and with the way my heart was racing, there was no guarantee it wouldn’t soon fly out of my throat.

Jason briefly apologized to his grandma after that and as I stared down at my food, I felt like I was going to be sick. From the questions Jason was asking, it was like he was starting to put twos together.

Oh heavens.

"I didn’t know male Omegas could get pregnant though." Jason stated after a while and when I glanced up, his eyes were on me and so our eyes locked. I pursed my lips and averted my gaze once again almost immediately just as grandma Nini responded.

"That’s cause Rory is special! I felt it the very minute we crossed paths. I remember wanting to link the two of you together, but even before you shunned the offer, Rory already said he wasn’t interested." Grandma Nini glanced at me this time and I offered her a smile that felt more like a grimace. This was definitely not the conversation I expected to happen over this dinner when I and Kenny began to prepare for it this evening.

"Trust me, grandma. That was only because I thought he was a random omega. If I knew it was him you wanted to link me up with, I’d have definitely flown over here faster." He drawled and when I glanced up again, his eyes locked with mine and this time, I let out a quiet scoff, scowling at him because he was starting to do too much at this point. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"Oh, honey, humorous as usual." Grandma Nini said after laughing a little and I resisted the urge to tell her that her grandson was the furthest thing from being funny, but I refrained from doing that.

"Right now, Rory and Kenny over here have been together. They’ve been together for years and their love is so beautiful, it’s something I hope you’ll one day experience," grandma nini continued, voice softer.

"Kenny is so amazing, he treats his omega very well, along with their two children. Anna and Nikolai. They’re really a beautiful family to be frank." Grandma nini continued, making me feel very flattered.

"I don’t doubt that." Jason rumbled out and I felt myself stiffened again, especially as he continued. "Besides, I’m really curious about Niko. How old is he again?" He asked, staring at his grandma and I cursed underneath my breath. This stupid fucker, he was trying to count the age of my baby in order to see if it related to the time we fucked.

Smart bastard.

Perhaps this was why Niko was so smart, because he got it from his father.

I ended up pushing back my chair and mumbling an excuse before heading to the restroom. In there, I stared into the reflection and remained unmoving until the door opened and I stiffened at first till I realized it was Kenny.

I stared at him for a moment before I was falling into his arms, clinging to him tightly and trying to take in as much of his scent as I could. He stroked my shoulders and lower back as he assured me that I was doing fine and that there was no problem.

"Jason knows, right?" I whispered, heartbeat pounding in my ears. Kenny shook his head before kissing my nose.

"He doesn’t. He’s only digging and digging to get a reaction from you, because he could read your facial expressions." Kenny explained and my eyes widened in realization.

"Oh," I whispered. I sometimes tend to reveal too much with my face. It’s a habit I’m still working on curbing till date.

"That asshole." I gritted out as Kenny washed his hands, and then he patted the wet hands against my cheeks.

"When we return back there, reveal nothing on your face and try to enjoy your dinner. That is sure to throw him off even more." Kenny suggested and I nodded as I reached up to grip his wrists, determined to do just as he had suggested.

When we returned back into the dining room, I tried to enjoy the meal and appeared unbothered and it worked to an extent, but then I could still feel Jason’s eyes on me every now and then and that left me feeling a little uneasy.

At a point, grandma Nini began to cough and I hurriedly helped her with some water.

"Grandma, I think it’s time to retire to bed. You’ve done enough for today." Jason announced as he got to his feet. Grandma Nini didn’t argue, she just bid us goodbye and that she hoped we could hang out soon again.

Jason really picked her up, and was taking her to her room when Kenny and I also began to prepare to leave before Jason would be able to return back here. However, our plans were shattered when grandma Nini noticed we were planning to leave because she instantly suggested that we wait behind because Jason would be out in no time.

"I know you’re technically still strangers but i’d like it if you can get to know each other some more tonight.

We couldn’t deny her request, and had to remain in the dining room till Jason re-emerged, hands deep in his pockets and hair framing his face. The light caught his eyes and made it glisten and my eyes fell on the sharpness of his jaw for a moment.

He didn’t stop walking forward till he was standing a few feet away from Kenny and I standing beside each other. His eyes darted between Kenny and I a few times before he sighed.

"Why didn’t you tell me about your child?" He finally asked, eyes trained on me and I stared at him as I slowly bristled.

"I don’t understand, Jason. Am I supposed to let you know? Like, are you even entitled to know a damn thing about me? Why the fuck would I let you know that I have a child?" I demanded, my chest heaving by the time I was done.

Jason dragged his fingers through his hair before sighing again.

"I didn’t mean it like that." He admitted before continuing. "So... are you the father of the child?"

His eyes were on Kenny this time and a calm Kenny only cocked his head sideways, smooth as ever.

"What kind of question is that and what are you implying, Jason?"

Jason pursed his lips. "I’m not implying anything, I just want to know–"

I instantly cut him off. "But you don’t need to know though. It’s none of your business so why are you even asking these kinds of questions? We’re technically strangers and these questions should definitely not concern you." I pointed out before folding my arms.

"And why won’t you leave us alone and just disappear from here or something?!" I demanded as I continued and Jason glanced away from a moment, dragging his hand over his face.

"I can’t." He responded and I blinked in confusion.

"Huh?"

"I can’t disappear or leave you alone." He responded and I flared up again.

"Why the hell not?!"

"Because I’m dying and I need my omega."
