"Your wolf is gone."

I felt my entire body go stiff as those words echoed around the hospital room. I was currently standing beside the bed which Jason was lying in, in the large hospital I insisted Anna drive us here straight, and she was currently waiting outside for us.

"What?" Jason asked as he attempted to sit up but I was quicker and I pressed down on his shoulders, reaching for his hand to squeeze on it. His eyes widened when he stared at my face and a betrayed expression crossed his face.

"You knew." He whispered, voice void of any emotion and I swallowed emptily, suddenly feeling tongue tied. I struggles past the lump in my throat because I didn’t want him to get the wrong impression.

"No, Jason. I... I just didn’t want you to worry, and I hoped that your wolf would still be fine." I admitted quietly but before Jason could respond, the doctor was clearing her throat politely and we were glancing towards her at the same time.

She glanced at her clipboard for a moment before continuing. "Did you get injected with something, perhaps? It infected your blood cells and killed your wolf. You were injected with something that’s meant to kill people’s wolves and frankly, the only reason you’re still alive is because you’re an enigma even though your wolf had gone dormant." The doctor explained and I felt panic began to rise within me just as Jason’s hold on my hand tightened.

The silence began to stretch out between us before I broke it. "Is there something that can be done?" I asked and the doctor shook her head while glancing between Jason and I almost sympathetically.

"There’s not much that can be done. His life is also in danger because of his damaged immune system. From the looks of all his tests results, he doesn’t have long to spend on earth. I suggest he take it easy this coming weeks and refrain from any kind of stress because the littlest stress could trigger those damaged blood cells and in return, they could make him go through pain so intense, it could make him black out of just shorten his already short life span," the doctor continued and the lump in my throat returned, making my entire body suddenly feel cold.

I stated down at Jason and I felt my eyes slowly well up Witt tears, which I hurriedly blinked away before he could notice. He was silent throughout before finally nodding firmly and thanking the doctor for her time. She wrote a series of drugs for him and a few more things before existing the room, leaving Jason and I to ourselves. Once alone again, I bend and tugged Jason into a hug, one which he returned fiercely. His body shook a little but his eyes was very much dry when the hug ended. In fact, his eyes were actually glowing and that confused me, especially as he rose from the bed and pulled out the needle from his vein.

"What are you doing?" I asked but he rolled his eyes.

"We have to find Rory, remember?" He spoke but I blinked again in surprise, watching as he shrugged on his shirt and buttoned it up quickly.

"But you’re ill and are supposed to take it easy on moving forward, remember what the doctor said..." I was still speaking when his fingers got tangled in my collar and he jerked me forward, then he was snacking a kiss against my lips, leaving me stunned.

"I’m not gonna lay in bed while Rory is still not found. That’s gonna happen after I die, but never when I’m still alive." He spoke fiercely and I felt something swell really hard my chest before I engulfed him in another tight hug. His arms were tight around me and it broke my heart that he had no scene whatsoever, like he didn’t since the moment he woke up im that cell, only that this time that diagnosed from the doctor made it feel more real to me.

I could feel pain wrecking me apart on the inside, the realization that now he had a limited time to soend on earth was daunting and scary and it was leaving a really huge gap in my chest, but at the same time, the fact that he’s willing to use his last moments on earth to help in finding Rory is showing me all over again how much he love and care about Rory, and all of this is just so overwhelming that it’s making me want to curl up in a corner and cry.

But I didn’t do that. This wasn’t the time for that and it’s the last thing Jason needed. Which is why I’d hide all my emotions and put on a really strong front for him.

I pulled out of the hug and massaged his face for a few moments, and then I pulled back and nodded once.

"Legs get back to work, then."

"Wait, where are you going? You’re supposed to be helping me with getting back at Alex, remember??!" Anna demanded, speaking too loudly that a few people kept turning back to glance at us. Jason and I were currently walking forward, over to the side of the hospital where a car was waiting for us.

Jason abruptly stopped and whirled around to step in front of Anna and she stumbled backward, her mouth open and closing, nervous swimming in her eyes.

"Look, we’re grateful you saved our asses, and we’d forever owe you one, but don’t forget that you’re an enemy of ours. You’ve been working With Alex to get Rory till he betrayed you, so don’t suddenly act like we’re on the same time." He spoke lowly and Anna gulped as he stepped backwards again, then she folded her arms and jutted her chin out.

"But you agreed to the deal though! A deal is a deal!" She hurled at Jason who only snorted with an eyeroll.

"Well, we’re breaching the deal then. What are you gonna do? Call Alex? He abandoned you, remember? And keep in mind that we’re back in our city. Now I have more than enough proof to have you convicted and locked up but I’m refraining from doing that since you helped us out of that cell. Don’t forget that." Once Jason was done speaking, Anna had a worried and unsure expression on.

"But..." she began and I stepped forward this time.

"Enough, Anna, please. We have to find Rory so we can’t help you get revenge on Alex just yet, Maybe after we find Rory and Alex is there, then we’d be able to do the two at the same time." I explained and after a few moments, her eyes brightened.

"Wait, I know where they’re definitely are!" She cried out in the next moment and at once, Jason and I exchanged a look.

"Don’t you dare fuck with us right now." Jason bit out as he breathed through his nose and I stepped closer to him to slip my hands into it because I just remembered the distracting against him getting worked up.

"Of course I am! Why would I lie? Remember that Alex and I were working together before he betrayed me. I know the spots he planned on going to after getting his hands on Rory." She explained and it still rubbed me the wrong way that she was freely speaking to us right now after admitting to working with Alex to capture and kill Rory, but there was nothing we could do right now since we literally had no lead right now, and not forgetting the fact that she’s the reason we aren’t still locked up in that cell right now.

"And if you’re messing with us, just keep in mind that I won’t be nice when taking actions." Jason pointed out before resuming walking, tugging me along with him while Anna jogged beside us.

"You should be a little nice, I helped you escape, didn’t I? Maybe I shouldn’t have done that." She was already breathless from hugging as she spoke and we ignored her anyways.

When we got to the car waiting for us, she attempted to get into it after us but Jason slammed the door in her face.

"Go ride in your own car. You’re aware of our address after stalking it for ages, aren’t you? Drive over there then we’d talk there."

"Sir, today is the day your ex fiancée is getting married to one of your cousins, and today is also their coronation day as well." Jason’s butler reported, he had been the one who came to fetch us with a car.

We had just gotten home a few minutes ago.

Jason groaned while massaging his head. I want to ask if he was okay but I also didn’t want him to feel like I was babying him.

"Honestly; I don’t care about that right now. They’re free to do whatever they want. All I care about is finding Rory." Jason said to his butler who bowed respectfully.

"Of course, my king."
