"You bastard!" Jason swore darkly and from the look on his face right now, it’s clear he’s contemplating charging at Alex to punch him again. The first punch had been a completely wrong move, we weren’t in any place to throw punches right now. Instead, we’re in a place to beg and grovel, because that’s what it seems like we might end up doing at the end of the day.

Jason was clearly just trying to control his anger but he was woefully failing at that. To avoid a fight from breaking out, I was quick to slide in between them, hands held high.

Alex let out an amused snort as his eyes slowly raked over every inch of my body.

"So what would you like to do? The ball is in your court now." He informed me, eyes darting over my body once again.

I didn’t know why but I had a feeling that Alex was just messing with me right now. He looked better than I even imagined. Someone like him can get any one he wants, without having to stress at all. It made no sense that he was still obsessed with Rory to this very moment.

"I have a feeling you don’t really want me though." I finally began, breaking the silence. Everyone was silent so far, even Alex’s armed guards were silent and clearly listening in.

"Is that so?" Alex crooned and I nodded once before shoving my hands into my pocket for a moment.

We stared at each other without saying anything. I could feel Jason’s scent grow more sour and annoyed as the seconds ticked by before he finally threw his head back and laughed a little.

"You know what? You’re actually right. I don’t want you. That’s why I said you were smart." He breathed out but I still regarded him wearily. I might look like I wasn’t panicking on the outside but on the inside I was falling apart from worry and I wasn’t interested in this conversation at all. The only thing I was actually interested in wax finding where Rory is and that was all.

"However, I’d still like to have you because I know it would hurt Jason so much." Alex continued and I resisted the pressing urge to roll my eyes. He sounded like a child. Who still had ridiculous thoughts like this in this day and time?

"Will you really give up Rory to us if I let you do this?" I questioned and almost immediately, Jason sucked in a sharp breath behind me. That made the grin on Alex’s face to stretch out and lengthen out drastically at once.

"Of course." He responded.

This wasn’t something I’d do on a normal day. Heck, this was a situation I’ve never imagined myself in. But I was worried about Rory and would willingly give up anything to save him. In this case, if I have to give up my body In exchange for him, I’d do it in an instant. However the only reason I was still unsure was because I didn’t think Alex was telling the truth. He didn’t seem like someone who’d actually be truthful in a situation like this.

"Are you sure?" Alex questioned but before I could say a thing in response, Jason was stepping between myself and Alex, shoving Alex back with a firm push that had him stumbling.

"The fuck is your problem? You won’t be sleeping with him and that’s final." He bit out angrily and I sighed in frustration and tried to step in between the two of them but Jason prevented that from happening.

"You keep sounding like you don’t want to see Rory again." Alex crooned just as Jason attempted to punch him in the face before stopping at the last moment on remembering that he was supposed to be keeping himself under control in this situation.

"I’ll still get to see him no matter what. I’ll get him back because you’ll provide him from wherever you’re keeping him and you’ll apologize to us for all the trouble you’ve caused us. You’ll do this because you know what’s best for you." Jason growled out in response, his teeth bared this time.

Alex attempted to say something in the next moment but Jason prevented that from happening by reaching out to grasp Alex’s throat and jerking his forward in the blink of an eye. I was beside them in an instant, trying to pull them apart. I was the only panicked person in this situation. Jason was furious, and Alex still looked very unbothered because he knew damn well that Jason won’t actually hurt him if he wants to see Jason again. And he’s also very confident that with all his guards present, Jason would easily be overpowered should he try to actually hurt him.

However in the very next moment, Jason was fishing a knife out from his pocket and holding it against Alex’s throat. It all happened so fast. In one moment, Alex was still unfazed and unamused but in the next moment, all traces of playfulness was completely gone from his face, and in their place was a Stoney expression.

"What are you doing?" Alex bit out and I watched, panic rising within me as Jason pressed the knife harder against Alex’s throat.

Almost immediately, all Alex’s guards posed for an attack, eyes firmly on Jason’s weapon. This time, Jason was the unfazed one in this entire situation.

"I got tired of your bullshit, Alex. You’ll tell me where it is that you kept Rory else I’m gonna slice your throat right now. Before your little guards charge at me, I’d have finished you so better warn them to stay back right now." Jason growled out, voice loud and filled with so much angry, one which surprised me a little. I’ve witnessed him in action a few times but never like this, like he actually meant every word.

Alex coughed a little and remained silent. But after Jason pressed the knife harder till a blood trickle from a small cut, Alex coughed again before waving at his guards and they all stood back in the next moment.

Jason grinned slowly this time, eyes briefly locking with mine.

"Yeah, that’s what I fucking though." He sneered out.

I stared at Alex still in Jason’s grip, clearly it looked like he had surrendered but something behind my mind was telling me that, that was far from what had happened.

If anything, it felt like a trap.

I stepped forward and was about to ask Jason to let go of Alex but in the very next moment, Jason was yelling out in pain and staggering backward, the knife falling from his grip to the ground in a loud clatter. My eyes widened and my heart flew into my chest as I hurriedly stepped forward and wrapped my arms around his shoulder just as he began to slowly sink to the ground. He was still letting out pained sounds and I looked over him frantically, trying to figure out what had happened.

Alex was laughing really loudly and darkly in the background and I cursed within myself just as I finally settled Jason on the ground while still getting him to tell me what was wrong to no avail.

I dragged my hands over his body and that was when I noticed it.

A needle was embedded deep in his throat.

My eyes widened, panic flared within me as I gripped the edge of the needle and pulled it out, flinging it sideways and cupping Jason’s face. His eyes were unfocused and he was no longer yelling but he was clearly still in so much pain.

"What the hell did you do to him???" I yelled out in anger while still trying to get Jason to speak.

"Isn’t it obvious enough? I had him get shot at with a sniper. He’s stupid enough to think I remained in his grasp because of a stupid knife, I only did that to get him to remain in the same position long enough for my men to get the right shot. Tell me, isn’t that so genius of me?" Alex questioned but all that was swelling within me was panic right now.

This was something neither of us anticipated. Perhaps we’d have prepared better if we had known something like this was gonna happen.

"Instead of looking so dejected, you should be thanking me that I shot him with something else and not a silver bullet." Alex continued almost immediately. My hands shook a little as I wrapped it around Jason, pulling him against my chest. He was slowly slipping into unconsciousness and clearly, there was nothing I could do to stop it.

"What did you have him shot with?" I whispered, feeling numb to the core.

"A shot that kills one’s enigma, and you know what happens when that happens." He informed me and a wave of panic and anger consumed me almost immediately.

"You bastard! What the hell is your problem?" I demanded before I could stop myself.

Before I could take those words back, Alex was signaling to his guards and they were tightly hurling Jason and I up in the next moment.

"I have no time for games anymore. I’m locking you and Jason in where you’d hopefully both rot to death."
