I didn’t give Trevor a response instantly, because I knew that would drive him crazy and would also make him want me more.

I answered his texts after three days, and before the third day, he had sent me over fifty texts. It was beyond ridiculous, the way he was sounding like he’d end up dying if I didn’t respond to his text.

I ended up telling him we could meet up at a restaurant of my choice after a week. He didn’t want to wait that long or that I didn’t want to go to a restaurant of his choice and I ended up leaving him on read for two days. After that, he basically agreed to anything I said without questions or objections.

He still believed that I was still staying in a hotel, but I had already rented an apartment. It was small and my lack of furniture made the single room appear extremely large. I’ve also managed to get a job as a waiter.

I was lucky enough to get a spot, simply because t was at that moment that someone resigned because she was relocating. Serving as a waiter was stressful, especially at night, but it was making me money and there were more than enough time in between for me to rest, so I was grateful for the job and also happy for myself and my baby that I wouldn’t have to starve or roam around the street begging for food ever again.

I didn’t have a bet yet and sleeping on a cloth was starting to make my back hurt, but I was already planning on buying a bed and some other important things at the end of the week so I’d be able to live comfortably. Since I was working in a restaurant, there’s always some leftovers for the workers to take home, and that had been more than enough since I was just one person. My baby was still too little to require a lot of food yet.

I was meeting up with Trevor tonight, at a restaurant far from my new apartment, because I didn’t want him to know anything current about my life. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"So, how’s Raya?" I asked after our drinks arrived and he grimaced.

"Can we not talk about her? Y’all are not even friends anymore, why do you care?" He huffed out and it took everything in me to not fling the drink along with the the glass in his face right now.

"Why did you even choose this restaurant anyway? It looks so ugly." He added before I could respond, a condescending look on his face as he glanced around.

"It’s quiet, I like it." I forced myself to sound pleasant and he barked out a laugh.

"Well, it doesn’t seem like you. What’s more like you is extravagant, luxurious things, which I’m ready to offer you." He crooned and he sipped on my drink to hide my scoff.

"About that..." I began and he leaned forward to take my hand into his and I instantly stiffened, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

"Why did you ignore my texts so much? I almost died! I didn’t even know you had it in you to be this firm and assertive, it’s actually sexy if you think about it." He continued to speak and I cleared my throat and gently tugged my hand from his, wishing I could wipe the spot he touched clean with soap and water.

"Rule number 1 if we’re gonna do this, no touching without warning. I need to be fully consenting at all times." I breathed out and he frowned a little before nodding.

"I love consent. I think it’s sexy." He exclaimed and I almost laughed In his face. He loved consent so much that he almost raped me in his kitchen.

"Any other rule?" He asked, pulling me out of my thoughts and I made a show of humming thoughtfully.

"I’m calling all the shots, and you won’t keep objecting here and there." I continued and he frowned again.

"But why though? As an alpha, it’s uncomfortable being in a situation where I’m not calling the shots." He lamented and I rolled my eyes before rising to my feet.

"Very well then. I guess I’m no longer interested then." I informed him before turning around, expecting his grip on my wrist before it came.

"C’mom, Rory. Don’t be so rash. Let’s negotiate." He urged as he helped me back into my seat and I had to force myself to not retch as I caught a whiff of his scent.

"No negotiating." I said firmly, and then I added. "Also, don’t touch me without my consent." I reminded him and he sighed, wiping his hand across his face.

"Fine." He spat out reluctantly and I resumed sipping from my drink. A waiter arrived at some point and we placed in our orders.

"So, how much are you gonna be paying me?" I asked after the food arrived.

He was about to respond before his eyes caught my phone resting on the table.

"Are you recording our conversation with that?" He asked and my heart skipped a beat, especially when he snatched the phone up before I could do that.

I wasn’t recording our conversation, although I almost did, but I ended up deciding against doing that in case something like this happened, and it did happen.

He laughed sheepishly as he returned my phone to me.

"Sorry about that, I’m just being careful, you know?" He coughs out and I began to pack up my stuff.

"Well, Trevor, since you don’t trust me, this can’t work."

He tried apologizing but I refused, and he chased me all the way outside the restaurant, still apologizing, with me telling him over and over again that I was no longer interested.

This was a ploy, because I plan to record conversations I have with him after today, because I knew that after this incident, he wouldn’t dare try to check my phone if it was recording ever again.

I ended up reluctantly asking him to text me tonight, claiming that I’ve lost my appetite. He asked for a hug which I adamantly refused, and after everything, I let him kiss my cheeks.

As I left that restaurant in an Uber, I was beyond pleased with myself because I didn’t know I had this kind of attitude in me before.

All of my plans were falling into places and I couldn’t be happier.
