"Rory?" A voice which sounded far away and like it was underwater called out just as I felt myself getting shaked a little right before my eyes flew open.

I let out a gasp, heart pounding against my chest as my eyes instantly flew around. It took a few seconds for it to zero in on Kenny who was hovering above me, a worried expression across his face, which instantly morphed into relief right now.

"You’re awake!" He called out as he helped me sit up on the bed and I let out a groan as pain shot through multiple parts of my body at once. Kenny was crouching beside the bed at once.

"Are you hurt at anywhere? What did that bastard do to you?" He asked and my eyes widened again as soon as all that happened rushed into my brain at once.

Trevor had been here, and he had been about to do unthinkable things to me before Kenny came in and began to fight him. As soon as those memories swamp my mind, my eyes registered the swell of Kenny’s cheek and jaw.

"Oh my god, are you hurt?" I whispered, reaching for his cheeks as guilt instantly consumed me. "I’m so sorry."

He shook his head firmly before taking my hand in his. "No, Rory. Don’t be. You should have seen his own face; I got him really good." He insisted with a proud smile but I couldn’t bring myself to return that action because it just dawned on me that we wernt alone right now.

Telling by the uniform on the two more men in here, they were from the police, and I felt my stomach twist a little as I focused on Kenny again.

"You called the police?"

He nodded firmly. "Of course I did, I want the bastard to be caught and locked up as fast as possible." He explained. "I managed to get him real good but he still managed to escape." He continued and I felt my heart lodge into my throat once again at the fact that Trevor was still out there which means he was gonna come for me again. He had been really angry tonight and if it wasn’t for Kenny, I might have been dead right now.

That made tears sprang to my eyes which I hurriedly wiped away because I knew it was pointless to cry right now. Trevor was watching me closely and I noticed his face twist with sadness, just as he reached out and massaged my knee.

"Thank you for coming back, If not, I might have been dead by now." I told him sincerely and he explained to me that he returned after driving away at first, because he actually wanted to return the shirt back to me and ask me to turn it into mine.

The police finally approached and after confirming that I was in the right mind, they explained that I’d have to give them a statement, a very detailed one.

I explained from the beginning, which was from the moment Raya’s husband returned from that trip, to the time he began to disturb me. I didn’t leave anything out, and I felt embarrassed since Kenny was present and listening in closely to the entire thing.

Once I was done, the police thanked me and urged me to call Raya and inform her about this so she could come down to the station tomorrow. They also believed it would be easy to catch him because now that he’s consumed with rage, he’s gonna be really slippery in whatever he does.

I thanked them for their time, and felt beyond embarrassed that they were in here along with Kenny in this studio apartment that was completely void of any furniture. Kenny didn’t seem disgusted by any of this so far, but I believed he was probably already judging me. That thought made me feel extremely weird and comfortable.

I offered to make some tea for the officers but they politely declined the offer and asked me where I planned on spending the night. My plan was to spend it here since I literally have nowhere else to go, but Kenny instantly suggested that I come home with him.

I shook my head firmly as I swallowed emptily. "I won’t be going home with you, Kenny. But I do appreciate the offer." I responded sincerely. He genuinely seemed worried about me, but it felt ridiculous that I’d go sleep at his house when I frankly, barely knew who he was.

What if he turns out worse than Trevor?

However deep down, I know Kenny is the complete opposite of Trevor. This was just my mind trying to cling to any excuse whatsoever. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Kenny kept insisting, reasoning that it was for my own safety and he also promised that I’d be safe with him. The police also suggested that I listen to my friend and return with him to his house, that this is just till this vile alpha Trevor gets caught, then my life can return to normal again.

Having no other choice, I ended up agreeing.

As I packed a few days worth of clothes, worry clogged up my mind as I kept wondering if I was doing the right thing. I could go stay in a shitty motel till Trevor gets caught, but what if Trevor tracks me there since motel security is crap. I also do not have enough money for that; if I should spend the rest of my savings this way, I’d end up regretting it in the future.

The best option here was to return home with Kenny, and I have to admit that it was cool to see that he actually wanted to do this instead of him being forced to reluctantly offer this option to me.

A small part of me was worried that he was doing this mainly out of pity, but then my mind returned to the conversation we had over dinner tonight, and he genuinely sounded like he liked me.
