There was something different about Rory.

I couldn’t put my fingers on it, but it was right there, hanging around him like cloak and dripping off him in drops. It wasn’t a bad thing, it was the complete opposite. This invisible thing around him made it feel like his being was now way more intense than normal. There’s just something string and powerful around him, and perhaps that’s why instead of outrightly telling him what the doctor said about there being nothing else than can be done to save Jason and prevent him from dying, I stepped closer to him and spoke.

"What do you suggest we do?"

It was dumb. I shouldn’t be doing this. It would only make me hurt more when a few hours creep by and Jason stops breathing. But the selfish part of me, the part that desperately wanted him to get saved, was hell bent on seeing through with whatever Rory is about to suggest.

Rory bit on his bottom lip, face in a focused and concentrated expression while his hand unconsciously moved up to touch the necklace around his throat. I stared at it confusion, trying to remember if he had always owned that but nothing was coming to mind.

My gaze darted out to the dude who had accompanied Rory here. I slowly sized up, he looked quiet young and he was glancing over every corner of this room. I want to throw him out tight now, because this moment felt extremely private and I hated having to share it with him. But Rory had said this dude assisted him in escaping and so I definitely couldn’t be rude to him right now.

When I glanced back at Rory, he began to pace. When he noticed me staring at him, he stopped and shrugged his shoulders a little.

"This is just something I need to do. I need to connect with something inside of me." He spoke up, cheeks coloring a little and I nodded hastily, not wanting him to think that I was jusgijf him right now. That’s the last thing I’d ever do. However, I do have a lot of questions to ask but I do believe now wasn’t the time. He resumed pacing and I kept quiet, assuming he’d not like to be interrupted right now.

Thiw was exactly what I was referring to about there being something new about him. I couldn’t wait for him to finally tell me the entire thing he went through while being captured by Alex.

Anger bloomed within me at the thought of Alwxtight now. I hated him so much, and I’d readily kill hin when given the chance. I don’t hate a lot of people, but Alex? I hate him with so much passion. Right behind him is his girl, Anna. I hate her so much because I actually trusted him. I believed that she wanted nothing to do with Alws and was only interested in revenge. I should have known better. We’d have been successful that day if she hadn’t unexpected changed her mind and sided with Alex at the very last moment.

When I glanced up at the tall dude, hw shrugged a little like ge was already used to Rory behaving like this.

How close are they now? Are they buddies now?

I really couldn’t wait to ask Rory hundreds of questions.

The dude seemed to think I was interested to speak to him just because our gazes licked moments ago because he walked around and came to stand beside me, grinning as he lightly bumped his shoulder against mine.

"Trust me, I was weirded out at first." He snickered quietly and I frowned at him as I put some space between us.

"I dont think its weird. Nothing Rory do would be weird." I snapped quietly and he stared at me for a few moments before rolling his eyes.

"Ugh, people in love are so disgusting." He sighed out and I scowled at him, right before he rolled his eyes and focused his gaze on Rory who was still in his own world.

"He has some connection with magic though. Do you know that?" He suddenly asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. I rolled my eyes, mind traveling to the whole stuff we were told about his blood. That’s the reason all of this happened. Our once perfect life was turned upside down because stupid Alex suddenly wanted to get his hand on Rory’s blood. Disgusting prick.

"Of course I do. His blood. But don’t get any funny ideas, dude." My voice was sharp at the end of the sentences and this dude rolled his eyes.

"What? His blood? Man, I don’t know about that. I was referring to him having actual magic. I feel like he can hear things we can’t. He felt you within him when we were lost in the forest and he cried." This dude continued and I frowned in confusion, my eyes automatically darting to Rory before returning back to this stranger speaking like he now believed he knew my mate more than I did.

"He did?" I blurted out. That was supposed to be impossible, since we aren’t officially mated and all." I muttered, still frowning in confusion.

"Of course. And the fact that we arrived here by teleportation." He continued and my eyes wisenwd so much that I almost tripped on air.

"What??!" I wheezed quietly and this dude rolled his eyes.

"That’s right. That’s the exact reaction I had. Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that he has some connection with magic so don’t think he doesn’t know what he’s doing because he definitely does." This dude spoke finish before bumping his shoulder against mine and I scowled at him but he only snickered as he walked off to slid down the wall at the furthest side of the room, his head falling against the wall behind him while his eyes fell close.

I scoffed. Was this his form of granting us privacy?

My eyes darted towards Rory whose eyes were finally opening again. For a moment, they flashed a fierce blue glow before the blueness disappeared, leaving behind his normal brown eyes as he stepped towards me. I met him halfway and took his shoulders in mine. He sagged against me for a moment and as I breathed in his scent, I could feel a force around him, like a powerful energy which was stronger this time.

"I have a solution." He finally breathed out and I peered down at him as he continued.

"We’re gonna bite him." He revealed while nodding and I blinked once.

"We are?" I blurted, feeling dumb for a second. My eyes darted towards the bed where Jason still laid unconscious, and what Rory just selected, sounded a little... well, not like what was needed right now.

"Yes. That’s what’s gonna save him." He responded with another nod, appearing quite sure of himself.

A small frown appeared across my face and I cleared my throat.

"Are you sure?" I asked quietly and he pulled out of my arms to grip my hands firmly, eyes boring into mine as he spoke.

"Do you trust me?" He asked and I nodded without thinking twice.

"Of course I do. You know you don’t even need to ask." I responded easily and he nodded again.

"Then trust me when I say this is what we need to do." He continued and my gaze darted towards Jason again before returning back to Rory, and then I nodded slowly.

"Alright then." I breathed out after a few seconds and Rory let out a relieved sigh, his hands still gripping mine.

"Yeah?" He continued and I turned our hands together till I was cupping his in mine, and then I nodded firmly.

"Yes. Let’s do it."

I was standing at the left side of Jason, and Rory was straddling Jason’s chest. He wasn’t sitting over him, just hovering. Should the doctor walk in here right now and see what’s currently in, she might have an heart attack because she’d assumed we were trying to murder Jason, especially with Rory’s hands around Jason’s throat as he carefully tilted his head so his throat could be bared.

Jason is in a very critical state and this bite might instantly kill him because a mating bite is powerful enough to do something like that to him in this state.

But Rory said it was gonna be alright.

And I do believe him.

"We’d have to do it at the same time." Rory said as I went on my knees so Jason’s throat can be at eye level with my face.

"Okay." I whispered, feeling tense and nervous as I let my fangs grow longer in my mouth.

I’ve never done this because and was a little scared I’d fuck it up. But Rory has never done this either and he looked so sure and confident.

"Now." Rory called out right after we both positioned our mouths beside the sides of Jason’s throat. In the very next moment, we were both plunging our fangs into Jason’s throat at once.
