I glared at the window for a moment before sliding into the front seat, while reminding myself that I really should stop letting that annoyingly weak alpha get to me. I said to myself as I starred the car and pulled into the busy road, trying not to focus on the two scents which were a mixture of the only two scents I’ve ever been drawn to in my entire life.

"Do you have a house here in this country?" Rory asked after about thirty minutes. He was pressed against Kenny and Kenny’s fingers were lazily running through his hair. That sight made my heart ache weirdly and I averted my gaze.

"Yeah, I just got one yesterday because now I’d be staying here for now."

"When are you returning back to where you came from?" Kenny asked, not bothering to hide the fact that he wanted me gone as fast as possible. That made me chuckle a little because at least I wasn’t the only one affected by his presence.

"Sadly not anytime soon." I drawled out in response and he scoffed but remained silent.

The rest of the car ride was silent, however, Kenny’s presence was unnerving as the minutes passed by. The only reason why I suggested that Kenny be involved in this entire thing is because I knew Rory would never ageee to do it if Kenny wouldn’t be involved. It was clear that they loved each other, one can tell from little little things, like how they’re clearly so in tuned with each other. I let out a sigh and shiver that thought out of my head.

That was none of my business. It was good as they loved each other, because it looked like they did. I wasn’t jealous or anything, at least that was what I believed because I literally had no reason to be. I’ve never longed for a family or a partner that I’d spend the rest of my life with.

After my enigma wakes up, I’d stop this whole scenting of Rory and all of that, and then I’d be able to leave and return back to where I came from without any strings.

Right, I had forgotten about that. I tend to forget about that a lot, because it was still had to believe that I do have a child. I had folly wrapped my mind around it, but my mind was yet to fully absorb that fact.

When we finally pulled up in front of my house, they had mild look of admiration as I let thrm in. I hated to admit it but impressing them, especially the stuck up kenny was the reason I ended up picking this house. We made our way to the sitting room and I headed straight to the bar, asking them if they wanted anything.

Kenny instantly declined the offer, back to wearing an unimpressed look, but Rory said he’d like some water, and as i left to get it, Rory was whispering something into Kenny’s ear. In the kitchen, I tried not to feel too happy, because we weren’t gonna be doing anything today, asides from scenting.

But why was that feeling exciting to me? Like i was a fucking teenager again.

On getting to the sitting room, Rory and Kenny were seated, and Kenny was massaging Rory’s shoulder. As I stared at him, I realized that he was a little nervous. His scent hit me at that moment and indeed, he was nervous. I felt tongue tied and out of depth, but it seemed Kenny had it in control anyway because the calming pheromones he was letting out seemed to be helping Rory tremendously.

When I held the water out, Kenny was the one who accepted it, and our fingers brushed a little. A tiny spark zinged through my finger and I almost dropped the water. If Kenny felt the same thing, his face gave nothing away and he was back to focusing on Rory who was now sipping on the water.

I remained in the same position, clearing my throat and shoving my hands into my pockets.

"Do you still want to do this today? We can just reschedule if you’re uncomfortable."

I’d be lying if I claim to not be a little hurt that my own mate didn’t trust me due to how nervous he was.

He shook his head and smiled a little.

"No, I want to, I will." He responded and I nodded before walking away, feeling out of place all of a sudden. From how intuned Rory and Kenny were, it felt like I was intruding a little.

Goddess help me, because if she wanted me to suffer till none but my mate would be able to help me, why the hell did she make my mate fall in love with someone else? And it had to be someone as annoying as Kenny, who also had a very delectable scent on top of that.

I was massaging my forehead when a throat got cleared and I turned around to lock eyes with Kenny’s blue ones. My mouth dried up and my eyes trailed over him for a moment, he looked so prim and proper, his blond hair in place and his face blanked to perfection.

The more I stared at him, the more I realized that I wanted to mess up this perfect picture he had on. That thought startled me just as he informed me Rory was ready, and then he turned and left before I could respond.

When I returned to the sitting room, Rory’s shirt was unbuttoned and the left curve of his shoulder was exposed. A wave of desire hit me square in the face as I slowly approached the couch where he was sitting beside Kenny.
