When I blinked my eyes open, it took a few seconds for where I was to register within me and I instantly let my eyes fall close as I silently willed the roaring in my head to go away. I remained in the same position as my mind tried to clear out the haziness around my brain which felt ridiculously slow.

I squeezed my eyes tight and let out a tired groan as I rolled to my side and slowly sat up; and then I held my head as a splitting pain ran through my head for the first few seconds. It took a few seconds for it to ebb away which felt like forever and I remained in the same position till it was fully gone, and as I slowly dropped my hand and lifted my head, bits of memories began to return to my head.

Automatically I parted my pocket and reached in to tug out the necklace I had previously out in there because I hadn’t felt right about throwing it out. I was quite shocked to see that the necklace was different that it was before, it looked like it somehow got upgraded. I eyed it warily for a bit, swallowing emptily and wincing as another wave of pain shrugged through me before I ended up shrugging as I went ahead and put the necklace on. I wasn’t gonna throw it away at this point anyway and it genuinely looked so pretty, and I met it around my throat initially so it wasn’t like I stole it.

After that, I dropped my eyes and let it wander around, slowly realizing that I was still in the same room I had killed Alex in. Alex was still in the same spot I remember him dying in and the blood was still looked around him. I wrinkled my nose at the stench of blood as I slowly got to my feet and walked over to his body. As I stood over him, I waited for the feeling of regret to come into my mind but it didn’t end yo coming. At the end of my wait, all I could still feel was relief and if given thw opportunity again, I was gonna kill him without any hesitation.

The knife I had stabbed him with was still inside of him and as I stared at the end of the crystal hilt protruding from his stomach, I considered leaving the knife inside of him but I ended up deciding against it after getting a feeling of disapproval within me. I hesitated before gingerly crouching beside him and smoothly pulling the knife free from his body. I was definitely creeped out right now and on a normal day, I might be panicking because technically I killed a man and that’s wrong at the end of the day. But then nothing was normal about today, or the day before, or the day I got kidnapped by him.

I wiped the blood off the knife against his cloth before regarding the weapon closely, still weirdly impressed that the knife was coincidently in my pocket after I woke up. For a moment, I wonder who it could be that put it in there after untying me. Clung jt be one of Alex guards who took pity ob me? Or a maid of his?

I didn’t have an answer to this and I desperately wished I did because I was beyond curious as I shoved the knife into my pocket and got to my feet, and I glanced around once before gently stepping out and closing the door after me. The realization hit me once in the other side of the door that Alex was really gone and I won’t ever have to be scared of him returning to come torment me.

I wanted to cry for joy but I knew this wasn’t the time at all. For all I know, one of Alex’s guards might come by soon to come check up on him, then once they see their boss dead, I’d be as good as dead because they won’t ever let me go and would all undoubtedly want revenge.

That prompted me to shift to the second door here in the end of this hallway. Out of three doors, one was the Alex had been falling apart in some time ago, which left two more. A pressing urgency was suddenly at the back of my mind and without hesitation, I almost pulled on the door knob but waited st the last moment. Moments later, a few sounds indicated people were in there speaking. Who are they? Guards?

Not having enough time to start trying to figure that out, I hurried over to the third door and pushed it open. As I stepped through the door, I was elected to realize it led to a staircase which I hurriedly took till I arrived before a large door. I had a feeling this door led to the front or this building and that just sounded like an extremely bad idea, making me anxiously shift my weight around while trying to fitted out what to do next: this was my only chance to escape and I was gonna achieve my goal no matter what.

I turned around and began to search around for a window, my heart was racing hard and vibrating against my chest as I tried my best to remain calm when the sounds of a few people walking down the stairs I had just used registered within me.

"Isht the boss done with that wbore?" One of the guard said as he snickered and I instantly stiffened, my back getting pressed against the wall behind me like that could make me invisible.

"He’s having too much fun with the little slit so I doubt he’d be done today. As he should though; the boy belonged to him and he went through so much trouble to finally get his hands on the boy." The second one responded and they both laughed as they finally alighted from the stairs. I was in the shadow underneath the stairs and it wouldn’t take them hard to see me should they try hard enough, but they were too busy gossiping about their boss and me; not knowing their boss was dead and I was currently trying to escape.

"If only boss would let us watch, even just for a second." The first one sighed longingly and I rolled my eyes in disgust, silently willing them to leave here as fast as possible.

"You know he won’t. He’s so possessive of that boy." The second one responded.

"But he let us watch him bang some people." The first one muttered as they hit headed for the large door which undoubtedly led outside like I guessed.

"Those ones are just random whores so that’s definitely different." The second I’ve explained as he threw the large door open. Mt guess ended up being right because almost immediately, noise instantly filled the air and a few guards instantly came to the door, attempting to step in at once but these two guards prevented that from happening.

"The boss is still busy with the boy. Remember his order? No one else is to come in till he’s done." The first guard growled out as he fully stepped out after the second one.

"I think he’s already done at this point. I mean, no one ever lasts this long." A random guard said and a few people snickered till the second guard ordered for silence.

"That’s enough, and everybody get back to work."

The guards instantly began to grumble just as the door got closed, instantly muffling the rowdy noise and I slowly let out a relieved breath. They were all finally gone and I was alone again. I exhaled again and let my eyes carefully examine everywhere first before finally tentatively stepping out of my hiding spot.

Not ready to take chances, I rushed towers the window at the far end of the large, exquisitely decorated sitting room and peered out the glass to check if guards were situated there. There was no one.

My heart was lodged in my throat as I got the window open as quietly as I could, and as I jumped out, I kept hoping I wasn’t walking right into danger this time. There was no enough time for me to sit and plan this out. At this point, it won’t take long for the guards to find out their boss is dead; and they’d instantly know I was responsible since I was no where to be found.

I dropped on the other side of the window with a thankfully quiet sound and I first glanced at my two sides, then I finally let out a relieved sigh on not finding any guard.

I made it out! I really did!

Those words kept echoing within me as I began to crawl to the left, hoping to disappear into the bush just behind the low looking fence I’d have to scale first. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

However, just as I was getting to the wall, a guard suddenly stepped out, his gun pointed at me and his fangs bared.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?"
