"Trevor is still on the run and the thought of that still makes me uncomfortable." Raya admitted, and the fear was starkly obvious in her voice.

After she left a statement at the police station, she requested that we meet up. We are currently sitting in a pack. Kenny dropped me off here then told me he had to go take care of something just so I can have some privacy with Raya.

The first thing Raya did was to tug me into a hug and squeeze me tightly while asking me if I was fine. The hug was a little awkward and I didn’t take long to pull away and assure her that I was fine as we both took our seats.

"I can’t believe I blindly trusted him." She whispered more ti herself and I pursed my Lips with an awkward shrug.

"He was mainly annoyed because I showed you the proof since he believed I was the reason you’re asking for a divorce." I explained and she barked out a bitter laugh. Her daughter was currently playing with a bunch of other kids in the sand.

"He’s not even mad because he’s losing someone he loves. He’s just angry he’s about to lose a puppet of his, one who has been giving him this illusion of a happy family while ha disrespects and cheats on me behind my back. Thinking about how I blindly trusted him this whole time is making me feel sick." She admitted quietly and I reached out and patted her shoulders, because I might not like her like I used to, but I have to still admit that it was only kormsk for her to trust and believe her husbands words over someone else’s. That’s just... normal because she loved him and believed he loved her.

It wasn’t her fault that her husband was an asshole who wasn’t even attracted to his own wife.

"It’s okay, stop beating yourself up at this point." I finally breathed out and she sighed, and then she took my hands in her.

"I’m so sorry this is happening to you now. You could have chosen to turn a blind eye in order to hurt me back but you chose to do the right thing and now that’s affecting you. For that, I’m so sorry and I hope he gets caughts as fast as possible. If he dares to come by us, I’ll call the police instantly." She explained and I exhaled slowly before squeezing around her hand as well.

"I hope he gets caught too, and I believe he would." I finally breathed out.

"Where are you staying now? I think you should come stay with me so you can be safe from Trevor." She offered, sincerity obvious in her eyes, but I knew she was also offering because she was desperate to mend what has broken between us. I wasn’t angry or mad at her any longer, but things just can’t return to how they once were between us.

"Oh, I’m staying with a new friend and he’s really nice and attentive." I informed her and even though she tried to hide the hurt, I was still able to see it in her eyes, but I acted oblivious.

"Um... that’s so cool then! I hope he’s treating you well and isn’t an asshole." She finally mumbled snd I shook my head firmly as warmth gathered in my chest.

"Nope. He’s the furthest thing from an asshole."

It’s been two days since I’ve been staying at Kenny’s, and we’ve grown even closer at this point. He was on the phone with his niece, listening to how her entire day went. He always talks to her every blessed day, proving that he hadn’t been joking when he told me he was her guardian. Whenever he was speaking to her, it’s always easy to tell how much he cared for her and loved her.

It was beyond cute. He’d make a perfect father.

Not that it was any of my business, so I didn’t understand why I sometimes find myself thinking about that.

"A penny for your thoughts?" He asked, piercing through my thoughts and I realized he was done with the call and had closed the distance between us. I was currently curled up on the couch and he was standing at the foot of the couch, staring down at me with an eyebrow arched. My eyes trailed down his strong looking neck and shoulders to rake over his lean muscles in the thin top he had on. When my eyes locked with his again, his gaze had grown more intense and I cleared my throat before averting my gaze.

"I was thinking about you." I blurted out before I could stop myself. His eyes twinkled and he leaned down, hands going past both sides of my shoulders to rest on the back of the couch, trapping me between his face, his hands and the couch.

"About what? Are you gonna share?" He drawled, voice a little lower this time. His arms brushed against my shoulders, and our faces were separated by a few inches. His scent was assaulting my senses in this position and floooding my lungs and I wanted to lean forward and bury my face in his throat, but I banished those ridiculous thoughts at once and forced my brain to remain here in the present.

"I was thinking about your job." I finally breathed out after struggling for the answer for about two minutes. A flicker of disappointment crossed his face and I’d have laughed if my chest wasn’t racing fast.

"Oh." He huffed out as he pulled his hands back and rose to his full height. I nodded while clearing my throat, cheeks feeling hot.

"Yeah, I’ve been thinking about it for a while. What do you do? Because... you seem really loaded." I waved my hand around as I spoke the last part.

"Oh, that. I own a company, that’s why." He responded so casually that it took a few moments for the response to dawn on me.

"You have a freaking company?!" I demanded, eyes blown wide in shock. "But... you don’t even go to work everyday."

He chuckled this time, hand combing through his blonde hair. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"That’s because the company is being ran online, so I basically work from home. It’s not a company per se, it’s more like a brand of business that skyrocketed unexpectedly."

Then he went ahead to explain what his job entails, but I found it hard to fully concentrate because my mind kept returning back to the moment whereby it had felt extremely charged between us.
