I was against Kenny coming with me from the very beginning. It was obvious from the frown on my face right now, but Kenny was adamant on coming along with me. I want to insist he stay back but I knew he was also extremely worried about Rory, which is why we were both here presently.

I let out a sigh and pointed at the little map I had drawn out a few minutes ago.

"This is how it’s gonna go down. We’ll go do there, all the way to Alex’s pack. You’ll wait outside the palace and I’ll go in..."

"No, I’m going in with you." Kenny instantly argued and I sighed again, feeling frustrated because it was like Kenny didn’t understand the severity of this situation, if he understood but didn’t care enough about his own life at this point. I didn’t like that. I care about him and didn’t want him to out himself in harms way because of this situation. I’m the only one allowed to do that and not him.

"It’s dangerous so you won’t be doing that." I informed him firmly and he scorned at me, clearly as irritated as I feel.

"I’m going with you and that’s final."

I turned towards him and threw my hands up In frustration. "I’m just looking out for you! I don’t want you to get hurt but you don’t seem to be understanding that. This is very dangerous, Kenny. The fact that Rory was taken smoothly in a short amount of time is proof of that." I snapped as I reached up and pinched my nose.

Kenny’s face turned into a frown just as he pointed a hand at me. "You can’t tell me what to do, Jason. You might control me in the bedroom but out here, we’re equals. How the fuck do you expect me to stay back while you go in?" He demanded, jaw clenched and scent annoyed.

I took in a deep breath in order to try to calming myself. It was no use getting angry or getting into a fight in this situation. There are plenty other people we could be focused on instead of fighting each other.

"I’m sorry, Kenny. I didn’t mean it like that." I began because I remember him opening up to me about his ex doing something like this to him. It was never my intention to make him feel this way.

He gave a tense nod and dragged his fingers through his hair just as I continued.

"When I insisted you stay outside, it’s because I don’t want you to get hurt. Rory is already captured and we’re hoping he’s unharmed. I won’t be able to bare it if something happens to you if you come in with me, that’s what I meant."

Kenny’s expression softened this time and he inched closer to me and placed a hand over my shoulder.

"I know you’re worried and it’s understandable, but I’m also worried about you and it’s exactly why I’m coming along with you. Do you think I’ll also be fine with you going into that psycho’s pack all by yourself?" His voice was soft as he spoke and I felt something twitch in my chest as I stared at him.

"It’s my job and..." I was still speaking when he shook his head firmly.

"It’s not your job to do that. For all we know, you might be walking right into a trap. I’ll definitely come with you because that’s when I’ll feel better. I’m sure that’s what Rory would want as well." He continued and my throat suddenly felt tight and choked up.

I ended up tugging him into a hug and he held unto me tightly while I breathed in his calming pheromones deeply. They weren’t supposed to work on me but surprisingly, I could feel myself start to relax against him as it drifted into my nose.

"So, we’ll go in together, no matter what, okay?" He said when we broke out of the hug. I want to argue again but I ended up nodding firmly in response. He sighed out after my response she returned back to staring down at the little map of our plans which I drew up about an hour ago.

"What’s gonna happen when we go in there? And would be go in alone?" Kenny asked and I responded as I massaged my forehead. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"No, we definitely won’t. I have an army. They’d accompany us." I explained and Kenny returned to staring intently at the map.

After about thirty minutes, he finally pulled away and headed over to the nearest stool to hop on it, and then he cupped his face in his hands for a few moments. It was clear that Rory’s presence was affecting us a lot and neither of us would be alright except after finding Rory.

"It’s almost dawn, which is the time we’re meant to leave. Won’t you get a little sleep?" I questioned after about thirty minutes. It was currently after three a.m in the morning right now.

Kenny grunted and shook his head. "I won’t be able to sleep anyway so I’m not even gonna try.

As the rest of the hours passed by, I spent the time getting the rest of the plans in order. My guards already know where to wait for us at, and the nanny is tasked with dropping the kids off at school. I had phoned the school and asked that they drop the kids off at Kenny’s mum place after school. Kenny had called his mum and given her a heads up of the kids arrivals. My grandma would have loved to take the kids for once but she was too old to look after kids.

After everything was finally in place, I took a cold shower and filled up my veins with caffeine before Kenny and I finally exited the house. Kenny had taken an equally cold shower as well and it was currently cold this morning, but I felt immunity to it.

Kenny’s private jet was already in waiting for us when we alighted from the car about an hour later. The pilot had already gotten the address, and we were heading all the way to Alex’s pack right now.

Once again, I found myself hoping that nothing ends up happening to Rory. And as for Alex, I was gonna rip his throat out.

After dropping from the helicopter and driving in a car till we arrived in Alex’s pack, I was tense as we came down and stood before the palace of my ex best friend. Alex and I used to be best of friends till he betrayed me. We were close and did everything till he tried forcing himself on a girl i used to fuck back then. That was the end of our friendship. I’ve hated him ever since then.

I turned to Kenny who gave me a nod to assure me he was alright. I want to try one last time to get him ti wait out here because there’s a b high chance we might be walking right into a trap. But after one look at the determined look in Kenny’s eyes, I end up deciding against that, choosing to focus on the task at hand.

I turn to my guards and give out quick orders, my voice loud and firm as it rang through the atmosphere of this open area.

Once I was sure we were all ready, I turned around and let the way right into the gate of the looming palace. The guards standing on the other side of the door all flatters on sighting us but were grabbed before they could raise any alarm. But my men clearly weren’t fast enough because of one Alex’s men managed to get to a large ball, and as soon as it got rang, loud echoing sounds of shrill alarms began to blast from all corners.

Everyone scattered in different directions as suddenly, the air around us began to grow white, completely clouding everything and everyone. I was quick to grab Kenny before anything else could happen and as everywhere got dimmed by a black smoke that prevented us from seeing anything, I tightened my hold on Kenny’s wrist and kept waving my hand before my face in hopes of that helping me see even if it was a little thing.

I knew we might walk right into a trap and this was the exact thing I was trying to avoid, because now instead of me to be the only one in this mess right now, Kenny was here with me and I didn’t like any of this at all.

"Well, well, well... what do we have here?"

Alex’s voice rang out loudly throughout the dark fumes in the atmosphere. In all of this, I was glad the fumes weren’t choking us right now or making it hard for us to breathe.

"You bastard. I’m gonna kill you once I get my hands on you!"
