Jason’s pov

Everything came to a standstill within me as I stared at Rory’s unconscious form in Alex’s arms. The sight shook me to the very core that I almost stumbled. I fit an instant rush of emotions within me, one that made it hard for me to breathe at first. As soon as Alex noticed us, a surprised expression crossed his face as he stared between the two of us. From the looks of his reaction, it was clear he still thought we were locked up in his cell.

He bared his teeth in the next moment as his eyes zeroed in on Anna.

"You traitor!" He gritted out but Anna only let out a scoff of disbelief right before she inched closer to us.

"That’s bold, coming from you who betrayed me because you didn’t want to share the powers with me anymore!" She hurled at him but before he could respond, I rolled my eyes and stepped forward. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Cut the bullshit you two, we have other important things to focus on right now." As I spoke, my eyes leveled on Alex’s face. Within my mind, I could already picture how I was gonna kill him. It was gonna be slow and very painful and it would hurt so much that he’d end up begging me to pull the plug already and put him out of his suffering, but of course I was gonna refuse and drag it out even more because that’s exactly what he deserves for all of this.

It’s been a few days but it felt like ages. It felt like months since I last set my eyes on Rory and right now, the fact that he was unconscious was rubbing me off the wrong way. He was hurt, wasn’t he? I had desperately hoped that he wouldn’t get hurt but right now, as I took in the way his arm dangled freely and the way he looked very frail and smaller than I remembered, I didn’t need anyone to tell me that he had been definitely hurt, and that made anger began to shrug through my veins right now.

"Hand him over right now." I bit out and Alex’s eyes narrowed at me before he stepped backwards.

Already done with his bullshit before he even began, I closed the distance between us before I could think twice and then I attempted to take Rory from him, but in the next moment, he was letting out a shrill whistle and guards were emerging from the nearby bushes and scaling the fences around here to fully surround us in the very next moment.

I took a step back and let my eyes wander around, over the armed men and I let out a scoff of disbelief as I shook my head. Alex was grinning proudly when I glanced back at him.

"Surely you didn’t think you were steps ahead of me just because you have Anna on your side, did you? Because I’ll always be steps ahead of you no matter what, and what just happened right now is proof." He drawled, a pleased expression across his face and I let out another scoff as I let my eyes wander around again. Kenny and Anna were standing beside each other and they were also in the midst of the armed men.

"I don’t wanna shed the blood of innocent people today. Just hand Rory over to me and we’ll be on our way. I’ll even forgive you for the shit you had me shoot you the last time." I informed him and he crackled loudly as he adjusted Rory in his arms and I wanted to break his arms right now for daring to have his arms over my omega like this.

"Why are you alive right now? That shit was supposed to kill you." He sneered and I rolled my eyes as I scoffed. I had refused to think of the fact that I’d end up dying in the nearest future since I don’t have a wolf any longer till right now that he was talking about it.

"Clearly I just don’t die." I responded and he rolled his eyes this time before attempting to shoulder past me but I stepped in his way and attempted to take Rory from him again.

"If you keep doing this, I’ll order my men to gun you down. The only reason I’m not doing that yet is because I don’t want the sound of those guns to wake my sweet angel." He informed me, voice softening at the end of the sentence right before he stared down at Rory almost lovingly. I let out a snarl, feeling bile begin to rise in my throat at that very moment.

"What did you do to him? Why is he unconscious?" I demanded without stepping away like he ordered and he grinned at me as he spoke.

"What can I say? Too much fucking will do that to someone." He crooned and I saw red after that, punching him square in the face that he staggered.

After that very moment, everything else was a mess.

Kenny and I didn’t come all the way here without a plan. We had snipers waiting at high buildings, ready to shoot on an order. The only reason we aren’t giving any order yet is because Alex and I were still in the same line of sight and also because we needed Rory to completely be out of arms before we result in that.

We had gun mens also waiting in lines and after I glanced back at Kenny and gave him the signal, he pressed on a button within his pocket that sent a particular message to our new gun mens. In the very next moment, Kenny and I, including Anna, all dropped to our stomachs while it rained bullets, taking out all of Alex’s armed men. It wasn’t that smooth because some of Alex’s gun mens escaped by scaling fences and hiding in bushes, while some got mercilessly got gunned down. I initially didn’t want to do this but since Alex still thought we were joking around with him here, we decided to go ahead and show him.

After a few minutes, everywhere was silent and I noticed that Alex was crouched low with Rory still cradled in his arms. I confirmed that Kenny was fine before rising to my feet and helping him up. It was clear in his eyes right now that he wanted to ask me if I was doing alright, but I was glad he didn’t. He was so worried about me since the moment we left the hospital and I knew he was acting otherwise to make me still feel normal and I appreciate that little gesture so much.

In the next moment, as Alex got on his knees, he draped an unconscious Rory before him right before he whipped out a gun. Instead of aiming it at myself or at Kenny, he held it against Rory’s head and I instantly stumbled to a stop.

"Take a step closer; I dare you! I’m gonna blow his brains off!" He threatened, voice filled with a sharp growl and I ducked in a deep breath, my stomach feeling extremely knotted and queasy.

"You won’t do that, though. Will you? You need him. You want to use him for your own good. To attain great powers, right? So why will you shoot him?" Kenny questioned slowly as he came forward to stand beside me; his eyes pinned on Rory.

Alex sneered. "Don’t try dissecting me right now, this isn’t the time! I’m gonna kill him because that way neither of you will be able to have him. That’s a better deal to me than you fuckers taking him away from me, especially since he rightfully belongs to me: contract and all."

I let out a sharp breath and massaged my pounding head for a moment before speaking. "If you do anything stupid, you’re dead yourself, Alexander. I’ll kill you and I’ll make it hurt so much."

Alex rolled his eyes and pressed the gun harder against Rory’s head and I swallowed emptily, watching as Rory’s unconscious body wobbled.

"That’s old news, Jason. Even if you kill me, at least I’ll be happy knowing you’ll never have Rory again!" He gritted out in the next moment on a snark and I sighed again.

Anna stepped forward in the next moment, voice shaking a little. "You care about Rory that much, don’t you?" She whispered and Alex scoffed as he glanced at her.

"Why did you betray me? You chose to side with the enemy. Because of what?" He questioned and I frowned as I watched the unexpected exchange between the two of them.

"Because you betrayed me! And because you still liked Rory!" She cried out, voice whiny and I frowned even more before face palming myself. I never could have guessed that she still liked him.

"You dummy. Do you know the plans I have for you? I wanted to make you my queen after attaining great powers." Alex told a wide eyed Anna who began to walk towards Alex but he stopped her with a word, telling her he couldn’t accept her back. After that, she burst into tears to my utmost bewilderment.

"Tell you what? I’ll take you back if you can prove yourself to me. Come over here and remove the gun from my back pockets, and shoot Jason and Kenny right now."
