I tracked their every move, against my will in most cases, but I couldn’t help it. My mind just kept getting strayed towards them every few minutes.

"So what do you love to do when bored?" Sam asked, pulling me pot of my thoughts and I clench my jaw, reminding myself to remain calm.

"I love the silence." I snapped in response and If Sam could tell that I was irritated, he didn’t care because he only giggled like I had just said something extremely funny before pressing up against me again.

Lord. Tonight is gonna be a long one.

My eyes drifted across the room again and as I watched Kenny hand a glass of drink to Rory who flashed him a smile before taking Kenny’s offered hand, and then they continued to mingle. As I kept staring at them, I kept wondering if they knew that I was present right now or if they’re yet to notice. My bet was on the latter because if they had, they’d instantly try to throw me out, but in all honesty, I really didn’t tail them here.

I let out a long sigh, scrubbing my palm across my face. My tie felt too tight and the material of the suit was starting to feel scratchy against my skin. The mixture of multiple scents in the air was starting to make me feel nauseous but I was trying to ignore how it was starting to make my stomach turn.

A writer walked by and I picked up one of the drinks off the tray, throwing the entire thing back at once.

When I glanced back across the room, I saw Rory in a conversation with two women. I instantly noticed that Kenny wasn’t beside him. For the first time tonight, his protective dog wasn’t breathing down his neck

I let my eyes dart around, trying to find out where Kenny was at. My eyes caught him exiting the large hall right before taking a left turn.

I waited for about a minute, and then I handed my empty glass to Sam who gaped at me in confusion.

"Need to go to the restroom, be right back." I said to him before turning around and pushing through the crowd till I stepped out of the club as well.

I walked in the same path Kenny disappeared at, and the path led to the restroom. I stepped into it and instantly sighted Kenny. He was standing before one of the mirrors in there, washing his hands. As soon as he sighted me, a scoff tugged at his lips just as he tugged out a handkerchief and dabbed at his hands.

I fully stepped into the restroom and closed the door after me, locking the two of us in it.

Once he shoved his handkerchief back into his pocket, he turned around to face me just as I approached me.

With him facing me right now, my mind began to conjure up images of his hands on Rory, on my Rory, his lips against my Rory’s skin, and anger instantly began to swell within me in waves. Kenny didn’t look fazed in any way right now, if anything, he appeared very unbothered and smug.

I wanted to knock that expression off his face so bad, like my life depended on it. I wanted to punch him, to hurt him, for daring to stand before me and look at me like he knew how miserable I’ve been for the past years and was mocking me for it.

A part of me reminded me that if I still had the full essence of my wolf within me, if I was still the enigma I used to be, I’d have easily made him submit to me right now. Watching him fight against his alpha and trying to stand his ground would have felt so pleasing to me.

When I reached forward and grasped the collar of his shirt, a snarl formed at the corner of my lips while white hot anger flashed through my mind.

I walked him backward and slammed him hard against the wall, hands tightening in the fabric of his suit. It was fairly easy to do this since I had some height on him which made me easily tower above him.

A glare appeared on his face and he leveled me with a murderous look, right before his hands clamped down on my wrists in an attempt to tug my hands off.

But my grip only tightened even more, and when I attempted to speak, only a growl managed to escape my clenched teeth just as my grip tightened even more.

I wasn’t sure of what happened after that but he stiffened against me, and then a gust of his scent hit me square in the face.

I expected his scent to be revolting as his presence had had been making me feel since the moment I discovered he and Rory were in a relationship. But his scent wasnt revolting. Instead, it was the complete opposite.

I felt extremely stunned, and everything that had been on my mind in the last minutes suddenly vanished into thin air, leaving my head completely blank. Before I could stop myself, I took in a deep inhale and almost immediately, I stiffened as well, mind blanking out even more as his scent filled up my lungs and flooded my entire head, making it feel extremely light.

I didn’t understand what was happening, it was something I couldn’t comprehend.

My teeth suddenly began to ache with the need to sink into skin, just as the itch underneath my skin increased in intensity, and I struggled to breathe while my grip began to loosen against my own will.

I felt horrified as I stared down at Kenny whose mouth was parted as he blinked up at me.

Before I could even start to comprehend all of this, he was punching me hard in the chin right before he roughly shoved me away from him, making me stumble because I had been out of it just now.

"Fucking psycho!" He hurled at me, while his chest heaved deeply. The expression on his face was tight and he had his hands clenched as he gave me a scalding look.

"Don’t try that ever again, asshole!" He called pot after a few more seconds and I still felt too stunned to speak. My ears were ringing and my heart was racing fast, hammering against my ribs at a really fast pace. As I stared at the angry expression on Kenny’s face, the only thing that could register within my mind was how much I loved his scent– how much my wolf loved it.

Oh fuck.

I’m really fucked.

What the fuck?

As I watched Kenny storm out of the restroom, I couldn’t bring myself to say a word, nor could I bring myself to follow. I was simply too stunned to do a single thing till the door slammed after him.

Once alone, I let out a long ragged breath, scrubbing my hand across my face before I stumbled towards the mirror in the restroom. I couldn’t recognize myself when I stared at my reflection, and when my eyes slid close, the only image that appeared within my mind was that startled look on Kenny’s face after I growled at him, which in turn made him stiffen. It was somehow now engraved within my chest and at the same time, his scent returned back to me, briefly clouding my senses and I cursed underneath my breath, realizing with a dry laugh that I truly am fucked.

Every scent has always irritated me for the past years. Tonight, everyone’s scents had felt so disgusted that I got nauseous. Realizing that Kenny’s scent didn’t make me feel nauseous in any way and instead made me feel the complete opposite was the last thing I expected. When I tailed him all the way here, it was with the intention to come threaten him or something. Shoving him against a wall and loving the ’deer caught in the headlight’ look in his eyes was the last thing I expected to happen.

I felt extremely weak to the bones and I didn’t even know what to think as I stepped out of the restroom after a few more minutes.

I wasn’t sure I could stomach returning back to the party in this state. My mind felt unfocused and my head was starting to pound. The best thing for me to do at this moment was to leave, and that was exactly what I did, and I didn’t bother updating Sam about this. He’d have to find his way.

As I sat behind the steering wheel of my car, I tried wrapping my head around what actually went down back at the restroom and I slowly realized that apart from Rory’s scent, my wolf had never loved another person’s scent before.
