Kenny
My hands kept shaking throughout the ride home and that irritated me so much. I hated that after all this time, my stupid ex still had control over my emotions. It made me feel less and extremely weak. Why did I let him fuck up my emotions in the little minutes we spent together whereby I ignored him throughout? My heart was pounding against my ribs and I felt sickened to the core but I refused to pull out of the road in order to try getting myself together because that’s only gonna mean that I was acknowledging that my ex affected me this much.
I tried my best to shove thoughts of my ex away and concentrated on drinking back home successfully, and I let out a relieved sigh on pulling up at home. I remained in the car even after killing the engine; trying to collect all my emotions together. I remained in the same position for about five minutes before alighting the car and that’s when I noticed Rory’s car in the driveway. I frowned in confusion because he wasn’t supposed to be home yet. He told me he was going to meet up with Raya today and stop by one of his stores to run over some things before returning in the evening, so I was surprised to see his car out there. I wasn’t surprised to not see Jason’s car anywhere. He had an important meeting today and wouldn’t return till nighttime.
I dragged my hand over my face, feeling beyond drained. I’d like nothing more than to fall in bed and go straight to sleep, it would be preferable if I’d be cuddled against a warm body when that happens. Perhaps I can get Rory to cuddle me this afternoon, I thought to myself as I made my way into the house.
To my horror, right in the hallway was Rory collapsed on the ground.
I stared at the ground in confusion, unable to believe my eyes. Did he choose to sleep here or did he trip? I fell to my knees and shook him, and then I began to panic when he didn’t wake up. My heart lurched into my throat as I hurried into the kitchen for some water which I sprinkled over his face. He sneezed shortly after that, eyes wide as it darted around. I pressed my hand against his forehead, it felt normal, which meant he hadn’t lost consciousness because of a sudden sickness, I’m guessing.
"What happened?" I questioned as I helped him into a sitting position. He gripped my hand tight and pressed his face against my throat, clearly needing comforting first. I slipped my hands underneath him and picked him up, heading straight for the sitting room where I sank down with him draped over my laps, his head against my shoulder, nose digging into my scent gland. His scent was also calming me down at the same time and my heart rate had finally slowed down since I ran into my ex.
"Remember my betrothed?" He suddenly asked and I blinked before it all returned into my head and I nodded, stroking his back soothingly.
"The one who cheated on you with your sister, right?" I asked and he nodded as he pulled out of my neck. I exhaled long and hard just as he continued.
"On leaving the restaurant I met Raya at, I met a note tied against the handle of my car, and the note was from Alex reminding me that I was still betrothed to him and that he was coming for me soon. That means- it means he definitely has people stalking me, right?! And he definitely knows where we live, where the kids go to school, and the rest. I’m so scared, Kenny. I don’t know what to do." He broke into small sobs at the end of his sentence and my heart squeezed tight in my chest as I tugged him into my chest in a tight embrace. I stroked his hair and back, trying to comfort him and make him stop crying. It ended up working, but to an extent.
"What are we gonna do?" He asked quietly after pulling out of the hug and I pulled out my phone from my pocket as I responded.
"We’re gonna call Jason and tell him about this. He’s gonna take care of this, I’m sure of it." I responded without thinking twice and after the words were out, I realized that I meant and believed those words. In the month we’ve spent around Jason, a trait of his that I loved the most was how he genuinely loved fixing things and making things right. If there was a problem, you only need to tell Jason and he’d urge you to be rest assured because he was gonna ’take care of it.’
"Okay." Rory mumbled, staring at his hands for a few moments.
"You’re right. Jason is gonna take care of this." He echoed shortly after that and I tugged him against my chest again as my eyes fell close.
~~~
To say Jason was furious after I called him and updated him of what had happened, would be an understatement. He wasn’t supposed to return till night but after the call, he was home before two hours passed by. At that point, Rory and I had taken a shower and were even cuddled in the bed. The cuddling helped me out immensely. A part of me wanted to talk about me running into my ex at the mall with a very worried Rory but this clearly wasn’t the time and it was irrelevant on top of that, so I didn’t bother bringing it up.
Jason sat at the edge of the bed and stroked Rory’s face as I spoke about meeting Rory unconscious on returning home.
"I had a panic attack." Rory mumbled quietly. Jason had a Stoney expression across his face and I could see the gears turning around in his head right now.
"None of the Nannies were home when he fainted?" Jason asked me and I nodded.
Jason exhaled hard before leaning down to kiss Rory’s forehead and nose. As I watched the cute scene, my heart fluttered in my chest a little. Watching Rory being treated this way was comforting to me and very satisfying.
"Nothing’s gonna happen to you, okay?" Jason said after pulling away.
"Whenever I get a hold of Alex, I’m gonna tear all his limbs off." He growled and I shivered a little before my hold around Rory’s waist tightened for a moment.
"For now, I’ll assign you some bodyguards till Alex gets handled, okay? The guards won’t impose on you or be all up in your face, they’d be able to blend into the background and would only tail you everywhere so Alex doesn’t get the opposite to put his disgusting hands on you." Jason continued and his suggestion was so smart that I instantly agreed with it.
Rory was unsure but he also ended up agreeing with it because he knew it was for his own good.
"What about the kids?" He asked almost immediately.
"I’ll visit the school and warn them to never release them to anyone but us." Jason responded and that seemed to calm Rory down because he turned sideways and buried his face in my chest, a leg slipping in between mine. After a few moments, he held a grabby hand out to Jason till Jason shrugged out of his shirt and slid into the bed beside Jason. Jason’s eyes locked with mine above Rory’s head and his eyes searched mine, like he was looking for something in particular.
Starting to feel like he was staring right into my soul, I began to avert my gaze but he clicked his tongue till I glanced back at him. This time, I scowled at him to hide any vulnerability he might have spotted in my eyes. However, by his next words, the scowling didn’t seem to have changed a thing.
"Did something happen to you today?" He asked quietly, clearly not wanting to disturb a sleeping Rory. I bit on my bottom lip for a few seconds before shaking my head.
"Nothing happened." I responded but it didn’t seem like he believed me. His hand which was previously draped over Rory’s waist suddenly moved towards me to settle against the side of my face. His thumb stroked my cheek and I shivered as I exhaled a long breath.
"When will you fully let me in?" He asked quietly and I averted my gaze from his, forcing him to drop his hand. I stared up at the ceiling for about five minutes before finally speaking. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"I ran into my ex today." I blurted the words out before I could stop myself. I knew Jason was listening without checking and so I continued, spilling out some of the things I experienced in the hands of my disgusting ex.
"Oh, Kenny...." He breathed out by the time I was done and a lump gathered in my throat.
"Want me to kill your ex for you?" He asked next and my eyes bulged out.
"What?!"
