"Anna, hold the tray properly." I said as I carried the rest of the stuff which we had used for the picnic this evening. Anna rolled her eyes but did as told without questions.

It was clear that she was gonna be a handful in the coming years, and I was a little scared. I wanted her to be a baby forever, to be my baby and never grow up. But I knew that was nothing but wistful thinking.

"Kenny?" She called out and I hummed, peering down at her.

"Do you like Rory?" She asked and I spluttered for a few seconds.

"Why do you ask?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

She leveled me with an unimpressed look. "Because you care about him a lot." She pointed out and I got the urge to pinch my nose. I had forgotten how smart Anna was.

"I care about everyone." I responded instead and she hummed, a thoughtful expression across her face.

"But you don’t treat everyone like Rory. You treat him... differently." She said without stopping like she’d normally do. We were currently heading towards the car where Rory is already waiting for us.

"Different? In what way?" I asked and she frowned, deep in thoughts again.

"I don’t know, but you’re always happy around him. You smile a lot when he’s present." She explained and I felt extremely called out at once. I bit my bottom lip, unsure of how to get out of this because she was currently right. Rory made me happy a lot so it was only normal for me to smile so much around him.

Since Rory and I weren’t dating yet, we agreed to wait till after we officially start dating before we tell Anna’s nosy ass anything.

"I smile a lot around you." I finally responded and she hummed, lips pursed.

"That’s true." She grudgingly agreed and I suppressed a snort. We were approaching the car and Anna skipped the rest of the way despite how much I’ve told her to refrain from running.

When I rounded the car, Anna was peering at the ground with a confused expression.

"Isn’t this your car keys, uncle Kenny?" She asked just as I came up beside her and as soon as I followed her trail of sight, my heart missed a beat at once and I did a double take as my eyes zeroed in on my car keys on the ground, and beside it; was the blankets which Rory took along with him from the pile of things we needed to return to the car.

I dropped the rest of the things I was holding and snatched the key and blankets from the ground, instantly whirling around while trying to find Rory.

"Rory!" I called out, heartbeat already accelerating because it didn’t seem like he was around.

"He was supposed to wait in your car, right? Where did he go?" Anna asked moments later and the urge to pull on my hair gripped me in the next moment.

I hurriedly began to ask a few people if they saw a pregnant omega and all their responses were the same. They hadn’t seen any pregnant male omega around at all.

I was on the verge of panicking, I had met the blankets and keys on the ground, with my omega nowhere in sight. Where could he possibly be?

The answer was starkly obvious at this point.

Rory has been abducted.

After meeting the beach headers, they were able to pull up some CCTV footage and after watching the footage slowly, my heart skipped numerous beats on seeing a masked man approach Rory from behind and hold up something against his nose. It looked like the person had been monitoring Rory’s movement before finally striking, and that thought made me sick to my stomach.

He was stolen from underneath my nose and I didn’t even realize until it was too late. Immense anger consumed every inch of my veins, it felt like I was about to go crazy. I wasn’t a violent alpha but right now, all I wanted was to rip out the throat of the bastard responsible for this.

A part of my mind considered the fact that the masked man could be the father of Rory’s child. Perhaps he had discovered where Rory was this whole time and wanted to get Rory back to himself. The thought of that being possible made red flash before my eyes, and my hands clenched into fists beside me.

"You need to find him! Find him no matter what and he mustn’t get hurt!" I roared out in anger and the police tried assuring me that they were already on it and would do all it takes to get Rory back.

"Please be calm, sir. We’ll get your omega back no matter what." A new officer spoke this time and as I let out a ragged breath, my wolf swelled with happiness at Rory being referred to as my omega.

That was fucking right. The omega was mine and no one else’s and I’d be damned if some asshole came from the past to snatch him from me.

But then if it was the father of his child, would he really want to use violence to get back into his life? What if it was that bastard Trevor who disappeared this whole time? What if he had just been in hiding and had finally decided to strike when Rory was alone?

I tugged on my hair while cursing over and over again. I was thoroughly fucked. I didn’t even realize how attached I already was to Rory until this very moment. Now, the thought of losing it was driving me to the brink of insanity. I couldn’t bear to lose him no matter what.

Anna had a worried expression when I took the seat beside her in the police station. It was like she knew how critical this situation is because she remained quiet and only reached out to entwine her hands with mine.
