"What do you mean by he’s dead?!" I thundered into the phone, as those two words echoed around the insides of my head. My head grew light and I got a little dizzy that I had to grab unto something for a moment.

"We were searching for him in King Alex’s pack like you commanded, when a woman who I believe is his sister confirmed to us that her brother, Rory is dead." The commander of one of the sections of my security team timidly explained over the phone and an insane amount of rage flood my senses. Before I could stop myself, I flung the phone into the nearest wall, and my claws dug into the handle of the chair I was still gripping tightly.

I breathed through my clenched teeth till I stopped feeling dizzy, and then I let out a curse before walking towards the bed and picking up the second phone there to dial the commander’s number who I was speaking to about a minute ago.

After the confrontation I had with Alex, I had stationed guards in his pack and ordered them to search through every nook and cranny, and I warned Alex to let them do their thing or be ready to answer to me, which is why my security team had been busy turning Alex’s pack upside down for the past three days. Three slow, painful days in which I was slowly being driven to madness as the days crept by. I could feel the immense powers my wolf possess grow weaker as the days goes by. It wasn’t that I was just suddenly losing them, it was my wolf withdrawing his powers from my reach on purpose in order to teach me a lesson.

Normal alphas’ wolves weren’t strong enough to do this, but an enigma is.

"Set up a meeting with the omega’s sister. She should come see me tomorrow." I barked at the commander through the phone and then I abruptly ended the call, a wave of tiredness suddenly washing over my limbs and prompting me to collapse into the nearest couch here in my darkened bedroom.

My butler arrived in about an hour, asking me if I was ready for dinner but I just waved him off, because I was too tired, frustrated and worked up to eat. Since the time my mate suddenly disappeared the day after I rejected him, everything about me had changed. I’ve barely been eating, because how could I? I was too worried about my wolf going dormant on me to eat freaking food. I only choose to eat whenever it feels like I might fall down from the lack of food in me.

The princess I had been about to wed six days ago was beyond mad at me. She was furious. After my wolf suddenly went dormant, I hadn’t been able to proceed with the wedding, and I ended up calling it off right on the wedding day, after months and months of preparation. I was yet to offer her father’s pack an adequate explanation, because I’ve not been in the right state of mind to focus on anything that didn’t concern finding Rory since then.

The princess, Ella, who i was supposed to get married to six days ago, actually liked me. I’ve known her for years and we had fucked a bunch of times. She was currently stewing because I apparently broke her heart and also brought her so much ridicule when I suddenly called the wedding off, and I knew that was a shitty thing, but it wasn’t like I had a choice that day. I literally lost consciousness because my wolf chose to go dormant unexpectedly.

Now, Ella is currently waiting on an apology from me and probably a bunch of flowers and a confession of love, but that’s never happening. With all that’s currently going on in my life, I wasn’t sure i could still get married to her. My wolf was beyond angry at me, if I go ahead and do that, my wolf might just chose to fully disappear and leave me completely wofeless.

I shuddered at that thought, and then I expelled a small a breath.

Who knew one’s life could go from great to worst all because of a simple rejection?

"How do you know your brother is dead?" I asked the woman sitting before me flatly. She was indeed Rory’s sister and had arrived here a few minutes ago. I didn’t even offer a drink.

"I can feel it through our siblings bond." She explained and I snorted.

"That’s bullshit." I tell her with a leveled look and she sighed. She was apparently in plans of getting married to Alex in a month time. If i remembered correctly, Rory told me about her, about how he caught her in bed with his fiance, Alex. Which means this woman never liked her brother and is probably here to get me off Alex’s ass.

That thought made rage grow within me just as she continued.

"You should stop looking for him at this point, just a friendly advice. It’s not like Rory is good for an alpha of your caliber anyway. Rory was the pack’s slut, and almost all the alphas in the pack had fucked him. In fact, you should be thankful he’s dea–"

She was still speaking when I closed the distance between us and grasped her throat tightly, relishing in her panicked gasp. I knew she was telling nothing but lies right now. I didn’t know Rory like that, but I know he’s not a slut like she’s claiming when he was literally an inexperienced virgin when I fucked him a week ago.

"Didn’t you fuck Alex when he was still engaged and betrothed to your dear brother whom you apparently love?" I demanded lowly and her eyes widened as she struggled to escape my grip.

"How dare you come to my presence and spew such ridiculous lies? Do you want to die?!" I snarled loudly and she began to cry while pleading for mercy, and then she stumbled over her words as she revealed that just like I had thought, she was here on Alex’s command just so I can believe Rory is dead and stop disturbing their pack because my presence alone unnerves them all.

I ended up flinging her sideways and ordering her to get lost before I do something wild like ripping her throat out in my fits of rage.
