I wasn’t certain of how she was able to figure out the fact that I was pregnant, but it was obvious that she could tell from the look in her eyes right now.

I slowly nodded my head in response after a few long moments, while tightening my arms around my middle.

The squeak she let out in response was an excited one and she visibly vibrated in her seat like she was trying to hold herself back.

"Oh my gosh, how did it happen??" She whispered in clear excitement and I found myself huffing out a laugh, feeling shy all of a sudden.

"Uh, it just kind of happened." I responded quietly, cheeks flushing a little in embarrassment, because getting pregnant was a proof of having sex.

And having sex is, well, embarrassing.

She squealed this time with her hands clasped before her. "I’m so happy for you, congratulations."

I felt my cheeks start to hurt from how hard I was smiling. I felt light, the lightest I’ve felt in a while.

"If you don’t mind me asking, where’s the father?" She asked after a little while and I felt myself grow sad in the twinkle of an eye. She realized her mistake almost immediately but it was already too late.

"I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to–"

I cut her off with a wave of my hand. "It’s alright. I don’t know him that well, he was just a stranger."

Her eyes widened and I almost regretted being honest with her.

"We’re fated mates." I hurried to add. "But he rejected me though."

An appalled look settled across her face. "Was that why you were wandering on the road?? Did he send you away or something? What kind of vile monster is he?"

I chuckled a little, feeling pleased that someone asides from me was cursing Jason out for once.

"He wasn’t the cause of me wandering the street though. It’s actually very complicated, but he’s not the reason. He doesn’t know I’m pregnant, he doesn’t even know me... he only knows my name like I do his, and that’s okay. I’m gonna raise my baby myself and we’ll surely be happy together."

She clasped her hands before her chest and cooed, eyes a little watery as she spoke.

"I swear, you’re gonna make that happen, and that asshole is gonna come back one day, but you won’t give him another chance, ever!"

I snorted this time. "I never gave him a chance in the first place, not like you’re thinking. It was like a deal between us, sort of. My virginity in exchange for his help. Thinking about it right now made me realize how dumb that agreement was, because it didn’t end up attaining to anything tangible anyway. But then this isn’t a fairy tale, he’s certainly not gonna want a second chance with me, an omega... and he he wouldn’t even know of my child’s existence in the first place, I’m gonna keep my child safe and completely away from monsters like him."

A protective urge moved through my veins once I was done speaking and I end up wrapping my arms around my middle again.

Raya came to sit beside me this time and wrapped her arms around my shoulders without even bothering to ask for permission first. I stiffened for a moment before slumping against her as I reached for her wrists and returned the hug while I let my eyes slide close.

The silence between us stretched out, but it wasn’t an awkward one, it was one which was filled to the brim with comfort and understanding.

"Mel’s the prettiest princess ever." I cooed with a chuckle and then I nuzzled her rosy cheek, making her giggle heartily with her head thrown back.

Raya’s daughter’s name was Mel, and she was a complete sweetheart.

So far, I’ve spent three days here and let’s say that her daughter has grown so fond of me that it was crazy to believe she hasn’t known me her entire life.

She wrapped her arm small arms around my neck and settled against me, ready to fall asleep.

Raya watched from the spot beside me, shock plastered across her face, because according to her, it takes a lot of work for her to successfully put her child to sleep, but when it comes to me, I don’t even need to try at all.""

When she caught me staring at her, she let out a laugh and leaned against her seat, eyes filling up with adoration as she stared at her daughter who was already starting to fall asleep after I sang to her.

"Will you teach me to sing like you?" Raya asked as we head towards Mel’s bedroom.

"Of course." I responded as I carefully laid Mel in her bed and kissed her head. She mumbled a few incoherent words before drifting off to sleep.

Raya had an awed look as we stepped out of her daughter’s room, one which made me roll my eyes at this point.

Apparently, she doesn’t kiss her child Goodnight because it usually makes her wake up and then she’d start crying non stop, so it amazed her that I was able to effortlessly do it.

We head back to the sitting room and sat beside each other.

It has only been three days, but I’ve grown fond of Raya and her daughter. Raya was someone who doesn’t give you a chance in accepting her, instead, she’d make herself get accepted by literally stepping into your personal space.

I might have mind it on a normal day, but in my present state, I appreciated it so much.

It warmed my heart so much that she was kind enough to keep insisting that I spend one more day since the night I got here.

But I was certain that couldn’t continue forever. I’d have to get going at a point... and I didn’t have a destination in mind, or any money to survive out there.

I’ve refused to let myself dwell on that since the last two days because thinking about that made me gloomy as hell, and I didn’t see the point of that because no matter how hard I dwelled on that, nothing was changing about my situation.

"So..." Raya trailed off and I stared at her, patiently waiting for her to speak.

She doesn’t usually hesitate. In the three days I’ve spent with her, she usually say whatever comes to her mind without hesitations.
