One moment, I was laughing along to my mates and the kids, and the very next moment, I was screaming in panic as a large truck suddenly loomed right in front of me. I was completely caught off guard and fear lodged itself in my throat as a hard lump while I struggled to get back control of the steering wheel. All that was currently going on in my mind was the fact that kids were in here with me right now, innocent kids who didn’t deserve to be in any sort of accident right now.

The truck keep speeding forward and I desperately tried to stop the car, but sidensly all the buttons weren’t working, I was left bursting with nerves while my heart hammered away. One moment, the large headlights of the truck in front of me was blinding me completely. From the back of my mind, I could hear the panic in Kenny’s and Jason’s voice, but my throat felt too tight for me to respond.

At this point, I had already accepted my fate that this truck was gonna collide with our car. All that was going on in my mind presently was the fact that the innocent kids and my innocent mates were here with me right now. At the very last moment, everything whitened out around me.

I was in a state of shock, whereby I couldn’t scream or move or blink, and when the bright light finally cleared away, I realized that we were no longer in the middle of the road, the truck was nowhere to be found, and our car which had almost gotten into an accident moments ago was packed at the side of a road that didn’t look so busy. As my eyes darted around, I let out a choked, shaky breath and when I glanced behind me, my mates wore matching shocked expressions, the exact one that’s currently on my face.

"What..." Kenny trailed off, and as my was started between him and Jason, before shifting to Anna and Niko, a wave of relief crashed over me. It was so immense that my head grew a little dizzy as those onslaught of emotions consumed me completely.

They were safe. Everyone is safe! Safe!

Tears welled up in my eyes just as Jason slipped out of the car and walked over to the driver’s side, and after he opened the door, I fell right into his arms, gripping his shirt tightly and trying to make sense of what had happened.

"I almost crashed you all, I’m so sorry." I cried out, sniffing and falling apart from guilt. Jason gently shushed me, his large palms sliding over my shoulders soothingly.

"What happened though? That was so crazy shit." Kenny’s voice drifted into my ear from beside Jason and I realized he had stepped out of the car as well.

"I wasn’t fully concentrating on the road, I’m sorry." I said as I pulled out of Jason’s arms to peer up at Kenny who shook his head before coming to crouch before me.

"I was referring to how we’re here right now and not crushed by that truck. That was sick. What happened there?" He asked and I blinked a few times before shrugging and shaking my head in confusion.

"I- I don’t know, I’m as confused as you two." I admitted just as Kenny got to his feet and gently steadied me when I swayed a little.

"I think it’s all you." He informed me and my eyes widened, darting towards Jason who nodded in agreement before he reached down to push my hair out of my face.

"I agree with Kenny. It was definitely all you." He added and I frowned before replaying what actually happened in my head. I didn’t do a single thing, I had even resigned myself to my fate before that ended up happening.

I shook my head while bleating out a nervous chuckle. "Guys it really wasn’t me." I informed them and Kenny hummed.

"But you can teleport, and you have a sort of connection with a voice within you. How is this any different?" He asked and in a way, that made sense because it was very logical in this situation. But in those scenarios he mentioned, I remembered wanting those things to happen before they did. Unlike tonight’s, that had happened right out of the blue.

"You know what?" Jason began and Kenny and I glanced up at him as he continued. "I know someone I can call. He can come over tomorrow and have hot checked. Whatever deal is around you, the whole power and all, he’ll figure it out and put an answer to all the questions we all have." He explained and I have a small nod, my mind still feeling nerves wrecked whenever the headlights of that truck flashed through my mind again.

"Can one of you drive the rest of the way? I kind of feel traumatized." I asked sheepishly while glancing between the two of them. Jason chuckled sorely as he leaned down to kiss my head and smothered his thumb over my shell.

"Of course, baby."

The next day, Jason asked his butler to summon the person he told us about yesterday, and I was a little nervous about what the person might tell me after getting here. Apparently he was a sort of soothsayer and Jason knew him since he was little and they were sort of friends so he was certain he could trust him.

While I waited for him to arrive, I tried catching up with Niko.

"I have a crush." He admitted shyly, his cheeks a little pink right before he covered his face with his palms and chuckled. As I watched him right now, warmth filled up my heart. He felt more like a normal kid now and I was happy about that.

His emotions were now in check and the bite Jason gave him toned down his instincts so he wouldn’t be able to decipher scents as much as he could, and it would reduce his enigma presence a little so he’d be able to make friends and live like a normal kid. Till he became more grown up was when those bites would wear off.

"Really? That’s awesome and very cool. Who’s that?" I asked and he hesitated before leaning close to me.

"A boy in my class." He mumbled and I laughed softly, cooing over him.

"I won’t tell you much about him yet, till I’m sure he likes me back." He informed me as he got to his feet and I nodded without questions.

"Of course, honey. Take your time."

He hesitates before reaching to engulf me in a hug.

"I knew something was wrong when you suddenly disappeared without saying goodbye but Kenny kept saying you were fine. I’m just happy you’re back. Don’t leave us again, okay? Kenny and Jason were a mess in your absence, and Anna and I were very worried." He revealed and I hugged him tightly while feeling my heart squeeze tightly in my chest.

"I promise not to ever again." I whispered.

That afternoon, the soothsayer finally showed up. I wasn’t sure of what I was expected, but it wasn’t a young man, clad in a suit and looking very good. I expected someone dressed in a more old fashioned way, I guess. He and Jason exchanged a hug and I was reminded that he and Jason were sort of friends. After that, Jason introduced him to Kenny and I."

"Meet Pierre." He said and we politely shook hands before moving over to the sitting room.

Once we all took our seats, this man- Aaron, motioned for me to take the spot beside him and place my hands in his. I asked how he knew I was the one he came here to check, and he said he could feel the aura of power around me, prompting Jason and Kenny to give me knowing looks.

"Magic isn’t as uncommon as you might think. People just keep it hidden because should it get in the hands of the wrong person, it could lead to unreversable damages." He said after letting go of my hands and we all nodded.

"So... I have magic?" I asked carefully and he nodded.

"Indeed."

"But how?" I asked and he shrugged.

"That, I cannot tell. But it felt like a gift, so you probably shouldn’t dwell on that too much and just fully embrace this gift." He explained and I gawned on my bottom lip while my mind travelled miles.

"So does that mean I have to magic fo went a car from an accident?" I asked bofore going ahead to explain all that happened last night. By the time I was done, he shook his head.

"That wasn’t you; it was a sheild. There’s a really powerful one around you that is strong enough to protest you from any sort of danger," he explained and I gawked at him in shock. He nodded at the necklace around my neck.

"It’s in that necklace."
