"Whoa there!" I breathed out along with a winded laugh as Niko slammed into me. He had his hands wrapped tightly around my shoulders, like we didn’t see each other three days back. I Returned the hug happily because I loved that despite the fact that he was an enigma, he never lets that affect how he shows emotions and I loved that so much about him.

"Missed me?" I asked and he nodded eagerly before going ahead to tell me how the last three days was spent at my mother’s place. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"Have you seen Jason and Rory?" I asked and he nodded, the grin still dancing across his face. I ruffled his hair again and huffed him some more and I held my face after pulling out of the hug.

"You smell like Jason." He breathed out, eyes a little widened and a small grin at the sides of his lips. I let out a small huff, completely unsure of how to actually go about this.

"I do, champ." I ended up admitting before leaning closer. "You noticed?" I continued and he nodded, pushing his dark hair out of his face.

"Of course! It’s now mixed with yours and dad’s. I noticed this same scent on Jason and on dad as well. Does this... does this mean we’re all a family? And no one would leave? Not you or Jason, right?" He continued, eyes earnest and I let out a small huff. My mind felt a little heavy, what Niko had just asked was very significant and I didn’t want to give him an answer for the fun of it. I didn’t want to answer on Jason’s behalf but Jason had told us he didn’t want to leave us anymore. That’s basically what Niko is asking right now, yes?

I took Niko’s hand in mine before speaking. "You’re right, champ. We’re all a family and no one’s ever leaving." I finally responded and Niko was so happy, he threw himself in my arms for another hug.

"Oh my god, I need to go tell Anna!" He gushed then he was out of my office in a flash. I let out a fond sound as I shook my head and made go return to the site I was previously working on.

After about thirty minutes, Anna arrived, pausing in the door for a moment. I dropped my hands from the laptop and moved my chair backwards as I spoke.

"Cmon Anna, what’s the matter?" I asked quietly as I got to my feet on instantly noticing the sourness in her scent. She met me halfway and wrapped her arm around my waist, burying her face in my stomach.

"I got my first kiss today," she whispered after about two minutes of us being in total silence which I didn’t break because I wanted her to talk all the time she needed. After those words left her mouth, I was so shocked that I almost lost my footing.

"What?" I whispered as I pulled out of the hug and she sighed, lips pursed.

"A boy in school, in my grade. He asked me if he could kiss me first though, but I didn’t like it. I hated it. It- it felt wrong, and his breath stamped." She continued, a frown on her face and I raked my fingers through my hair, suddenly feeling out of depth and unsure of what to say right now. I had began to make research since about a year ago, and shortly after Anna clocked nine, because I knew she’d start going through certain developments and I wanted to be fully equipped for them and I didn’t want her to lack in any way just because she didn’t grow up with a woman in her life. I was grateful for Rory’s presence in her life these past few years, he wasn’t a woman but he was an omega with nurturing instincts and he sometimes seemed like he could understand her without her saying a thing when I couldn’t, which was why I had been very glad when Anna instantly fell in love with him.

"What did you do after the kiss?" I asked and she bit her lip for a moment.

"I punched him, then he cried, but I urged him not to tell the teacher because I didn’t want her to call you. He agreed not to tell me if I agreed to kiss him again tomorrow. But I don’t want to kiss him tomorrow! I don’t know what to do, Kenny." She sighed at the end of her sentence as she leaned her head against my stomach again. At this point, this situation was so funny that I had to force myself to not laugh when she said she punched the kid.

I led her to my desk and sat her atop it, before sinking into my seat again.

"Anna, you’re not supposed to kiss anyone yet. You know that, right? You should wait till you’re a teenager at least."

She sighed and nodded reluctantly. "I know, Kenny. I was just curious. But it was disgusting." She admitted as she pushed her hands underneath her sweater. In all of this, I was just always grateful that she trusted me so much to open up to me about literally everything. This is something that I pray to share with her forever.

The thought of her asshole father crossed my mind and anger bloomed within me for a moment. Her father never got to witness anything significant in her life so far. Not when she graduated each year as the best student of her school over and over again, not when she received so many awards in school one time, and I got accused of helping her cheat by paying the school to enhance her results. Not when she started growing taller. Not when her first tooth fell off, not when she cried and laughed. And because of that, he doesn’t deserve anything out of her life.

"How do you kiss Rory and Jason? It’s not disgusting?" She demanded and I ended up choking on air.
