Rory
Everywhere was ridiculously hot. It felt like I was being squeezed from every corner of my body. It was hard for me to breathe, my lungs felt empty and despite how hard I tried to drag in deep breaths, nothing seemed to be working. My lungs were burning hotly and my body felt like it was being squeezed to the point of my life force was being pushed out of my body.
I tried to fight it. I struggled and tried kicking my limbs out, but it was completely pointless. It made no difference. Instead, it almost seemed like the lies u struggled, the more the invincible force around me seemed to be squeezing around me tighter and tighter.
I tried to let out a sound. To scream for help, but nothing came forth. Not a single sound. Instead, it felt like I was underwater, and my ears kept vibrating due to the amount I’d vibrations going on in there.
And slowly, slowly, I ended up passing out.
When I came to again, my body felt like it was on fire. Like it was being burned by an open flame. I struggled hard and screamed loudly but not a sound echoed around me. I tried hard to blink my eyes open, but it still didn’t work. In other moments, it felt like my eyes were wide open but all that I could still see was pitch darkness and nothing more.
Shortly after that, I slowly passed out again.
When I came to this time, I floated. Like my body was made of paper and nothing else. I didn’t fight it this time. I remained in the same spot and let myself float again. My cheeks suddenly felt wet and I realized that I was silently crying. As soon as the realization settled within me, the tears fell down my face harder and harder.
As I was floating, a bunch of thoughts began to slip through my mind in the very next moment. First, my son, Niko did. It made my cheeks grow even wetter and I felt myself get engulfed with pain, at the realization that I really ain’t be able to see or hold him ever again. My mind drifted to my two mates, Jaxon and Kenny. Pain wracked through every inch of my body and I tried to curl up into myself to try offering myself some sort of comfort, but my body felt stiff and they refused to move in the position I wanted. It just continued to float aimlessly in the endless void of darkness.
When I slipped into unconsciousness this time, I silently wished that by the time I’d wake up again, I’d be safe and back at home with all my loved ones.
~~~
However, when I came to again, this time, my eyes managed to move.but it was of no use to me cause all I stupor saw was an endless void. I was no longer floating but I was standing in some sort of grudge over a dark water. It made my heart slam against my ribs hard, at the realization that my wife didn’t end up coming true because I had actually... died. So this is how the afterlife is? This is how it feels so bleak and empty? The sky was dark, the ocean underneath me was black, everything here felt like darkness, one which pulled me under without any sort of warning as I sharply cried out, fear gripped me immensely before darkness pulled me under.
~~~
This time, when I came to, something instantly felt different. The air felt different. It didn’t smell like darkness or death anymore. Instead, it smelt of flowers, and of the ocean.
Slowly, I blinked my eyes open and this time, my eyelids complied with me. I wasn’t sure of what I expected to see on opening my eyes, but what I was staring at right now was the last thing that could have ever crossed my mind.
I was by the ocean. The ocean was silver in color with soft blends of blues. That wasn’t the only supernatural thing here. The whole atmosphere here felt like it came right out of a dream. It all looked so unreal. The sky was pale blue and it reflected over the ocean perfectly. Flowers surrounded the shore of the ocean and I realized that those were what I smelt moments ago. I glanced down at where I was standing, by the seashore, and I realized that I was almost naked. I wasn’t in the same outfit I was in that I got stabbed by Alex in. Instead, I was in some sort of sheer skirt. I felt horrified and I moved around a little, eyes darting around as I tried to figure out what was happening and why I was here right now.
Is this another side of the after world? The place where people get stopped right before they get to hell?
The sound of the ocean rippling pulled me out of my thoughts and on whirling around, I was shocked to see a woman walking right out of water. I gasped and stumbled in shock, eyes widened as it glided over the woman’s skin. Her skin was a mixture of silver and soft blue, and as she fully stepped out of the water, I hastily averted my gaze on realizing that she was stark naked.
However, she only beaconed me over with a soft laugh, but I refused to move because all of this made no sense to me.
"Don’t you want to know who you truly are? The secrets around your blood and so on?" She drawled softly in a sugary voice and I swallowed and hesitated before finally glancing back at her. Her long hair covered most of her cheer and I kept my eyes solely on her face as I reluctantly stepped forward. She waved a finger over the ocean and a floating board appeared over the ocean. She stepped over it and I hesitated again, wondering if I was doing the right thing or not. But then I reminded myself that I was already dead and this was the underworld so what did it matter? And like she said, I was extremely curious.
After I climbed over the board, it began to move on its own and I got consumed with fear because the motion almost throw me into the sea.
The woman was so beautiful, like now mermaids and sirens are described. I stared at her, waiting for an explanation. She sat down and motioned for me to do the same, and with the board still moving smoothly, she moved a hand between us and a large mirror appeared. She then stared at me pointedly and spoke.
"Ask it whatever you want to know."
It felt like a joke at first and I’d kain if I wasn’t currently in some sort of magical world.
I cleared my throat, feeling extremely awkward before leaning towards the mirror.
"Mirror... er, please tell me who I really are."
A low hum instantly began to rise around me and in the very next moment, a whoosh shot out from the mirror. I expected the mirror to show me some images If it actually works, or read the words out to me. But I didn’t expect the mirror to actually pull me into itself and show me what I asked to know in person.
~~~
A woman was crying and always praying by the river side. Day after day. Night after night. The villagers laughed at her constantly and ridiculed her. She was looking for a child. Desperately and constantly. Even her husband tire of waiting and went to lay with a woman outside. The woman took in instantly and birthed a girl who was named– Anna.
I was standing by the sidelines, watching as all of this was happening. It felt like I was right there as all of that was happening, but at the same time, I couldn’t imput anything.
The woman who desperately sought for a child desperately still continued to find a child. One day, she made a vow with the ocean, promising the ocean her life If the ocean gives her a child. At the end of the day, the ocean brought a son floating forward to her, one which she named– Rory.
Shock instantly consumed me in that moment and I blushed a couple of times, trying to wrap my head around the fact that I came from the... from the freaking ocean.
Shortly after that, the woman died and the son was left to the husband. The husband had no love for the boy because he wasn’t the one who fathered him, so he used him to settle the debt he owed the king by offering his son in return.
After that, I decided that I had seen enough and wanted out. As soon as I closed my eyes, I was back on the floating board with that woman who spoke softly.
"Welcome back home, child of the sea."
