I flattered at those words, blinking slowly before my eyes fell on Rory’s face again.

To get off my scent blockers? I haven’t done that in over a year. A frown slowly formed on my face as I glanced back at Kenny who was still regarding me pointedly.

"Why?" I demanded, mouth weirdly feeling dry the more I stared at him. He shrugged a shoulder as he responded.

"If you want this to work, your scent has a job to do here. If you want Rory’s wolf to start forgiving you, you need to start getting it used to your scent. Please tell me you’re aware of this." He pursed his lips at the end of the sentence and I scoffed before glancing away from him. In all honestly, u haven’t known of that and I thought this would be able to work with my scent blockers. If I had known of this, I wouldn’t have been looking forward to this because my scent made me a little insecure.

I huffed out a breath and rose to my full height, glancing at Kenny for a moment before focusing on Rory.

"I have to go take the drug that would disable the blockers ib my system." I said to him as I turned around and strode out of the sitting room to the bedroom I’ve taken as mine here in this big asz house that was cold and gloomy. As I stood in front of the mirror, I hesitated for a moment before downing the drug, and then I let out a sigh, remaining still for a few moments as my scent slowly began to wound around me as the blockers began to wear off.

I wrinkled my nose when my scent hit me, and I realized that on returning back out there, if I ever get aroused from that scenting session, they’d instantly be able to tell due to my scent. That didn’t make me happy, but at least that has made me determined to control myself throughout the scenting.

As I returned back to the sitting room, a thought kept dancing through my mind.

Would they like my scent?

After that thought popped up, I realized that I didn’t just care if Rory would like my scent but also Kenny, when I literally wasn’t supposed to be caring about anything concerning him.

I said to myself as I walked back into the sitting room, slowly approaching them and gauging their expressions because at this point, my scent has filled up the room as well.

When I stopped before the two of them, the lower part of Rory’s shirt was buttoned and a frown formed on my face as I instantly threw Kenny a sharp look because I just had a feeling this was his doing. He ignored my gaze and instantly snapped his hands, face giving nothing away as he spoke.

"Let’s get to it already, we don’t have time to waste." He drawled and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as I glanced at Rory this time. Rory wasn’t like Jason, he never really knew how to hide his emotions from his face. And surprise was painted across his face, which I didn’t blame him for because I know I don’t smell like I did in the past and he must have instantly figured that out.

Did he hate this particular scent? I found myself silently wondering as I took the spot on his left side, eyes zeroing in on his espoused shoulder. My eyes trailed up the line of his throat and the sharp of his sharp collarbones. There was a slight Shane of sweat over his throat and I found myself wishing I could lean forward and lap at it, but I was quick to remind myself that that wasn’t why we were currently here, which helped in getting my thoughts together.

Rory reached for Kenny’s hand and Kenny held his hair firmly just as I touched a finger against his shoulder. I ignored the sharp feeling in my chest and moved that finger up till I was switching a finger for my full palm which I used in judging his head sideways, and then I took in a deep lungful of his scent.

A sharp tremor went through my entire body, it was so sharp that it made my brain shut down while my eyes whitened behind my lids for long seconds.

I didn’t realize what actually happened.

However, when I came to, I realized that I was growling. That caught me by surprise, and I wanted to pull away to try gathering my scattered thoughts together. But I quickly found out that I was unable to do that. Instead, it was like my hands had a mind of their own, because in the next moment, my right one was tilting his head even more while my right one clamped over his shoulder as if to hold him in place, and then I was following the trail of his intoxicating scent, all the way to the source itself. Sniffing it alone didn’t end up being enough and before I could stop myself, I was licking over his scent gland and growling roughly against his skin. My hands shook and my head filled with so much Smokey heat as my fangs elongated, skating over the pulsing scent gland. I could feel my enigma inside me for the first time in years. Its sheer presence, it was filling up my veins with a rush of adrenaline and I growled again.

Distantly, I could hear a squeak, a moan, a sequel and a bunch of other sounds. I wanted to pull away because at the back of my mind, I could tell that I was already losing control. But I couldn’t bring myself to pull away.

Distantly, I felt fingers dug into my hair, but instead of tugging me closer, I got roughly wrenched away from Rory in the blink of an eye.

A growl got ripped out from my throat at once and the first thought that appeared before my mind was to attack and to kill. Rage flooded my entire brain, but before I could do anything, Ken’s familiar was piercing through the haze of anger within me, and I realized he was the one holding my heir tightly.

"Get yourself together, Jason." He called out slowly and I had to blink a few times before his actual words dawned within me, and then I sagged as all the tension eased out of me. When I glanced at Rory, my mouth remained agape from bewilderment because his eyes were glazed over and his lips were parted. However, what actually shocked me was the sight of his exposed throat. It was reddened like it got manhandled.

I blinked a few times, disbelief engulfing me on realizing that I had done that. How the fuck did I lose control to that extent.

"Your enigma came really close to the surface. Your eyes even turned red, but it’s back to being black. I want to believe you lost control of it because it’s been long since you felt it within you, right?" As Kenny spoke, surprise engulfed me because I actually thought he’d berate me for this and blame me and also call me childish, but surprisingly, he was being logical and understanding about this.

I nodded weakly at him before dragging my palm over my face. My heart was still racing really fast, and I realized that my scent was so thick in the air, it almost fully swallowed the other two.

The next thing I noticed in the air was arousal.

Mine, but not just mine, Rory’s as well. That realization sent my brain reeling for a few moments before I slowly turned towards him. His lips were parted and wet, and he was blinking as if trying to gather his thoughts. Hunger hit me hard and I got consumed with the urge to kiss him right now.

When I attempted to speak, he squeaked and held a hand up, and then he groggily got to his feet, making a beeline for the bathroom.

My head landed over the headrest of the couch and I let out a long sigh, feeling beyond confused by what had actually happened. This whole scenting thing didn’t go like I imagined at all, but at least I got to feel my enigma, and it rose to the surface, which meant this is indeed the only cure that’s bound to work. Does this mean Rory and I would have to go through this continuously? Would I be able to not lose control next time?

Kenny cleared his throat and I glanced at him to see him watching me wearily.

"Don’t start feeling special or anything, just because he got aroused. That was just biology and nothing more." He was referring to Rory, and I wanted to punch him right now for saying that, but instead, I gave a tense nod.

"I’m well aware."
