I was sitting by the window on the ground. The atmosphere was hot so the ground felt cold and comfortable to me right now. It was currently around seven in the evening and I was already done for the day since my shift today ended early.

A neighbor stopped by my apartment today to give me a box of cookies and I thought that was really nice. She was an old woman who looked like she was in her late sixties, but still very bubbly. I planned on returning the gesture in two days time by gifting her something as well.

I let out a small sigh as I glanced down at my phone. Kenny had asked me to text him tonight and I was wondering if I should really text him or not.

I was bored and had nothing else to do, which was what prompted me to shoot him a text.

Rory: How’s the adorable girl I saw you with this afternoon?

I glanced away from the phone after sending the text, and I decided within myself that I was gonna give him back his shirt tomorrow, so that we can go out separate ways. I already had a feeling we’d stop talking after I revealed my pregnancy to him tonight and even though the thought of that was making me feel a little sad, I knew it was something I needed to do.

My heart skipped a few beats on realizing he had responded.

Kenny: that little girl’s name is Anna and she’s about to fall asleep. I’m currently reading to her ;)

My heart skipped another beat as I read the text.

He reads to kids as well.

Each thing I get to find out about him just keeps proving to me that he was a perfect alpha through and through.

Rory: That’s super cool. I should probably leave you to finish reading to her!

He responded almost immediately.

Kenny: I’m basically reading the story to her from my heart (but she must believe I’m reading it from the book, which is why the phone is hiding between the pages and besides, she’s already dozing off after wearing herself out today ;)

I giggled this time as I read the text and I shook my head a little as I responded.

Rory: ah, you’re a pro at this ;))

He sent a bunch of laughing emoji and a thumbs up as well and I snorted quietly.

Kenny: reading to her since she was a baby has it perks!

Kenny: I just exited her room after kissing her goodnight. So, how are you?

I felt my stomach swoop a little as I shifted on the hard ground before typing in a response.

Rory: I’m doing great, and you?

Kenny: you wouldn’t believe it if I told you.

Rory: try me.

Kenny: I’m currently missing staring at your pretty face.

My mouth opened and closed a little and I realized that I was blushing.

He was definitely flirting with me!

Which is a bad thing, nope nope nope, it’s bad. BAD!

But it feels so good...

I let out a slow exhale before typing in a response.

Rory; why did you leave me that much tip?

His response was instant, like he had been waiting for my response this whole time.

Kenny; because I felt like you deserve it.

I rolled my eyes this time.

Kenny: and because I came there even though you asked me not to. I used Ana as an excuse, and I’m sorry about that :(

Kenny: I just wanted to see you again, which I know isn’t an excuse

Kenny: I’m usually not like this, I always listen to anything asked of me and I don’t like making people feel uncomfortable, which was why I felt bad for lying

Kenny: so, I’m really sorry

Was he rambling... over the phone?!

He’s actually rambling!

He’s actually super, super cute! How is he this cute?!

He was currently typing and canceling over and over again and I decided to put him out of his misery.

Rory: Kenny, please breathe and relax.

Rory: I’m not mad, I promise

Rory: you’re being honest and it showed you didn’t mean any harm. I wasn’t uncomfortable as well so don’t beat yourself up! Also the tip was ridiculous, don’t do that again

I bit my lips after sending the texts and I wondered if it was a little too much, but then his response came in the next moment.

Kenny: I’m so relieved right now, thank you for not getting mad. I won’t leave you large tips anymore then :(

I laughed out loud this time while shaking my head. My heart felt extremely large and it didn’t take me long to catch myself.

I was enjoying this too much, way too much, for something which is undoubtedly ending tonight as soon as I tell him about my pregnancy.

That thought made my mouth taste bitter.

Rory: you’ve been flirting with me.

I sent the text before I could stop myself.

Kenny responded after a minute.

Kenny; I am

Kenny: is that a bad thing? Did I make you uncomfortable?!

Rory: No, you didn’t!!! Stop getting worked up.

Rory; and it’s not a bad thing.

Rory: I mean, it is a bad thing

Rory: just because of the circumstances!

I stopped typing on realizing that I was rambling a little. Why the hell was I rambling?

Kenny texted after about two minutes.

Kenny: what circumstances?

My heartbeat instantly accelerated and I had to will myself to calm down before typing in a response.

Rory: it’s just that...

Rory: I’m pregnant.

Rory: so, we can’t flirt, since I’m pregnant.

There, I finally said it!

I thought within myself on a relieved exhale.

I chewed on my bottom lips nervously as I waited for a response.

When a text finally came in, I was almost too nervous to read it.

Kenny: silly Rory! I know you’re pregnant

Kenny: they told me at the hospital when I went back m

Wait... so, he knew about my pregnancy but still kept on flirting with me, which means he doesn’t mind?

Rory: oh.

I didn’t know what else to say, and my mind was reeling so much.

Kenny: When I ran into you again. I couldn’t pick up any alpha scent on you, so I assumed there was no alpha in the picture

Kenny: I apologize if that was too forward

Kenny: But I just thought... since there was no alpha, then you might be open to someone else (hopefully, me) coming into your life :(
