He walked her toward the bed and carefully sat her down, making sure she didn’t topple over before kneeling in front of her. His hands moved to her feet, unbuckling her heels and slipping them off one by one, his fingers grazing her ankles as he set them aside. She hummed in satisfaction, wiggling her toes the moment they were free.

When he was done, he straightened his back but remained on his knees, his body now almost level with her seated frame.

God, she looked beautiful. Not that she didn’t always, but something about her in this moment had him completely entranced.

The soft flutter of her long lashes, the way her slightly messy blonde hair framed her features, strands falling over her face, and her lips—fuck, her lips—soft, plump, and slightly parted as she breathed. The faintest hint of a smile tugged at them, as if she were in her own little world.

His spiraling thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Adeline’s soft groan. She rubbed her forehead, wincing. "Ugh... My head feels so heavy."

"You’re a lightweight," he said with a small laugh. "But you drank way too much."

Raising her hand, Adeline pinched her thumb and index finger together, squinting at him. "I drank just a little bit."

He scoffed, shaking his head. "Yeah, right."

She suddenly reached out, her fingers brushing the back of his neck.

He didn’t move, watching as her fingers tugged at the knot of his bun he had thrown his hair into earlier. The moment the tie came loose, his dark hair cascaded down, streaming over his shoulders and spilling onto his face, partially concealing his eyes.

Adeline tilted her head, blinking at him slowly. "You should keep your hair down more often," she murmured, dragging her words.

"Oh? And why’s that?"

Her lips quirked into a lazy smile, and she delicately took a strand of his hair between her fingers, gently twirling it around. "Because... You look... hotter this way."

Caught off guard by her unexpected compliment, Enzo’s lips parted, momentarily surprised. "Did she just say what I think she said?"

She squinted at him, studying him intently like she was reassessing something, her. "When you have your hair tied up, you look like a..." She paused, hiccuping, her nose scrunching before she continued. "You look like a pretty man instead."

Enzo laughed heartily, his hand tousling his hair and pushing back the loose strands that had fallen across his face. "Pretty man? What the hell does that even mean?"

Adeline pouted, a little bit offended that he was laughing at her drunken observation. "It means what it means, dumbass. You look hotter with your hair down and pretty with your hair tied up. I prefer hotter."

He smirked, watching her closely. The Adeline he had known for months would never admit to something like that. It made him wonder—had she always thought this? Had these thoughts been in her mind even when she wasn’t drunk, but she just never wanted to say them out loud?

One thing was for sure—he liked drunk Adeline. He could use compliments like that from her every once in a while.

His hand moved almost on its own, his palm sliding up and cradling her flushed cheek. His thumb traced slow, lazy circles over her soft skin, feeling the warmth radiating off of her. Enzo’s breath hitched. His fingers twitched against her skin as his heart thumped once again. "What... is going on in that little head of yours?" he mumbled.

Adeline, catching part of what he said, straightened up. She pulled his hand away from her cheek and leaned forward, moving closer to him.

Their faces were now mere inches apart, so close that Enzo could feel the warmth of her breath brushing against his lips.

"Absolutely nothing," she murmured. "My head is as blank as a piece of paper right now."

Her lips were slightly parted, soft and tempting. He could smell the alcohol on her breath, but beneath it was something else—something sweet. It was intoxicating.

His grip on her wrist tightened, but she still didn’t pull away. She stayed right there, close enough that he could count every golden lash that framed her mesmerizing blue eyes.

Something inside him snapped, and without thinking, he surged forward, tilting his head just slightly before crashing his lips onto hers.

A small gasp escaped Adeline. Her eyes snapped shut as she melted into the kiss.

Enzo groaned low in his throat as one of his hands tangled into her hair, while the other rested on her waist, pulling her in. His lips moved against hers, firm yet desperate, as if he had been starving for this, craving it for far too long.
