Crossing her arms, she waited for the car to stop completely before walking up to the passenger side and opening the door.

She slid into the seat and closed the door behind her, letting out a relaxed sigh as she buckled her seatbelt.

Shooting a bored glance at Enzo, who was confidently gripping the steering wheel, she asked, "Do you have a thing for Rolls-Royces or something?"

Adeline rolled her eyes, raising her hands in air quotes. "Let me guess. Is it because they’re ’sophisticated’?"

Without warning, Enzo reached over and tugged her cheek lightly. "Correct."

"Don’t touch me, you dumbass." She scowled, slapping his hand away.

They pulled into the parking lot of a building with a neon sign hanging above its entrance. The sign read ’Timeless Tavern’ in glowing cursive letters.

Enzo parked the car, killing the engine before stepping out. Adeline followed, trailing behind him as they walked up to the building.

Stopping in front of it, she planted her hands on her hips and tilted her head back to read the sign. "Timeless Tavern," she murmured. "Interesting..."

Enzo pulled out his phone, scrolling through the messages Andrei had sent him. After a moment, he nodded and tucked the device back into his pocket. "Well, this is it. Let’s go find the source of those packets, shall we?"

Adeline cast a brief glance in his direction, her eyes meeting his before they shared a nod. In unison, they moved forward, steering toward the entrance.

The moment they stepped inside, the energy in the room shifted. All heads turned in their direction, and the low hum of conversations faltered.

Adeline’s steps slowed as she leaned closer to Enzo. Her voice was a low whisper, barely audible over the music. "Why are they all looking at us like that?"

Enzo’s arm draped around her shoulders, pulling her in close as they walked. "Pay them no mind. They’re probably just wondering what a beautiful, elegant lady like you is doing in a place like this."

Adeline let out a quiet snort, covering her mouth to stifle a laugh, thinking he was just messing around as usual. But Enzo suddenly halted, causing her to stop as well.

He reached out with his free hand, his fingers lightly tilting her chin upward, forcing her to look directly into his striking blue eyes.

"Just look at you. With your lovely blonde hair that looks like it would glow in the dark and your glittering blue eyes, very much like mine, but...prettier. You stand out here more than you realize."

A warm flush crept up Adeline’s neck, a soft pink dusting her cheeks as she knocked his hand away.

"What’s gotten into you?" she muttered, turning her head to the side in an attempt to hide her embarrassment. Then, she scoffed, shaking her head. "What am I even asking? You’re always saying out-of-pocket things."

He chuckled, shoving his hands into his pockets. "What? I’m just answering your question."

Adeline let out a breath, collecting herself before shifting her focus back to the room. Her eyes drifted across the bar, flicking from one face to another. "I don’t see anyone who looks like what Miranda described."

Enzo followed her gaze, nodding. "Me neither. We should ask around."

She gave a quick bob of her head and patted his shoulder before breaking away, heading toward the bar counter. A man sat there, hunched over his drink, his fingers wrapped tightly around the glass.

He had a rugged look—unshaven beard, with tired eyes—and didn’t seem like the friendly type, but he was the closest person available. She reached out and gave his shoulder a soft tap with her fingertips. "Hello, sir," she said with a polite smile.

The man turned his head, his brows furrowing as he glared at her with bloodshot eyes. "What?!"

Adeline flinched at his aggressive tone but quickly masked it with an awkward laugh. "Hii... uh, have you seen a man around here? He’s in his thirties. White hair, brown eyes, about six feet tall?"

The moment the words left her mouth, the man slammed his glass down on the counter so hard that the liquid inside sloshed over the rim. He staggered to his feet, towering over her with an angry scowl.

"The fuck do I look like? A damn security camera? Get out of my face before I—"

Before he could finish his sentence, his eyes rolled back, and his legs gave out beneath him. He collapsed back onto his chair, his head falling face-first onto the counter with a dull thud. The sound of his snores filled the air seconds later.

Adeline’s face twisted in disgust as she took a step back, her nose scrunching at the strong smell of alcohol wafting from him. He was completely wasted. "Gross."

Turning on her heel, she made her way back to Enzo, who had been watching the entire exchange with an amused smile.

As she reached him, he bent down to get at eye level with her. "That looked like it went well."

Adeline shot him a deadpan look before flipping him off. "Fuck you."

Enzo only chuckled before something—or rather, someone—caught his attention. His gaze shifted past her, locking onto a young man sitting at another counter just a few steps away.

Adeline followed his gaze and spotted the young man as well. He looked to be in his early twenties, with brown hair that fell into his eyes as he lazily swirled a drink in his hand.

"What?" Adeline asked.

Enzo rolled his shoulders back before straightening up and adjusting his collar.

"I have a way of getting information out of anyone I want." He grinned smugly, reaching out to pat her cheek lightly. "Observe, cupcake."

Adeline rested her hands on her hips, watching as he strolled toward the young man. He took the empty seat beside him, leaning one arm on the counter and turning his head to face him.

The moment the young man looked up and met Enzo’s eyes, his fingers froze. His drink nearly slipped from his hand, and a short gasp escaped his lips.

"Whoa," the young man breathed out, his eyes widening. "You... you look majestic."

Enzo let out a soft chuckle and extended his hand. "Enzo," he introduced himself. "Charmed to meet you."

The young man grinned, placing his wineglass down and shaking his hand. "Lucas. Nice to meet you too."
