As their hands pulled apart, Lucas glanced down at his own palm, rubbing his fingers. A strange, almost electric sensation lingered where Enzo had touched him.

He murmured under his breath, almost to himself, "Even his touch feels majestic..."

"Well, aren’t you just adorable," Enzo teased, leaning slightly toward him. "Are you a regular here?"

Lucas gave a nod, extended his hand towards his glass, and twirled the last drops of the liquid within. "Yeah, I come here maybe three or four times a week," he said, sighing. "Depends on how depressing the week is."

"I see. And how old are you, if you don’t mind me asking?"

"Twenty-two," he answered. "What about you?"

"Why don’t you take a guess?"

Lucas squinted, studying him for a moment before his eyes flicked down to his empty glass. "Hmm... Twenty-six?"

"Maybe." Enzo shrugged. Lifting his hand, he signaled the bartender. "Refill this handsome guy’s glass with champagne, please."

Lucas laughed, watching as the bartender poured the bubbling golden liquid into his glass. He lifted it, taking a sip before giving Enzo a knowing look. "So... What’s all this about? What do you want from me, Mr. Charming?"

"Just a little bit of information, and then I’ll leave you alone."

Lucas’s expression changed instantly, and he scoffed in mild irritation, downing the drink in one gulp before placing the empty glass back on the table. A soft exhale escaped him as he murmured, "Of course."

Sensing the shift in Lucas’s tone, Enzo’s smile softened. Perhaps he was too outright with his words? But regardless, he needed to get what he came for.

He reached out and placed a gentle hand over Lucas’s. The instant their skin made contact, Lucas felt that odd sensation once again, his hand involuntarily twitching.

"Don’t you want to hear what I have to ask?" Enzo asked, his voice growing quieter and taking on a more seductive tone. "It’s alright if you don’t. I can ask someone else—I wouldn’t want to be a bother."

Lucas gave a subtle chuckle, brushing his hand through the air in a dismissive gesture. "Relax. Who could say no to a handsome guy like you?"

That last sentence replayed in Enzo’s mind, reminding him of someone who would have the complete opposite opinion.

"Well..." he thought, "I know one person who easily would."

His gaze flickered towards Adeline with a sly smile, his fangs peeking slightly from beyond his lips as he locked eyes with her. She was still standing in the same spot he had left her with her arms crossed, watching him like a hawk.

Lucas tapped the counter to regain his attention. "Alright, go ahead. What do you want to know?"

Enzo adjusted his chair, moving closer to him. "Have you ever seen a man in here with white hair, brown eyes, and about six feet tall?"

Lucas hummed quietly, his eyes narrowed and his pupils shifting from side to side, deep in thought. Then suddenly, he snapped his fingers. "Wait—does he look like he’s in his late twenties? Maybe thirties?"

"Yes," Enzo answered quickly, nodding, his eyes lighting up.

"Yeah, I’ve seen someone like that here a few times."

"Do you know where we can find him?"

To his disappointment, Lucas shook his head. "No idea. I don’t even know where the guy comes from. He just kind of...appears out of nowhere. Sorry, man."

Enzo reached into his pocket, pulling out some hundred-dollar bills. He placed them on the counter in front of Lucas before rising from his seat. Then, with an easygoing pat on the young man’s back, he smiled. "You were really helpful. Thanks for your time."

Lucas’ eyes widened, his jaw nearly dropping as he stared at the cash. He had only come into the bar to enjoy a drink as usual, and in no way had he anticipated that responding to Enzo’s question would lead to this.

His fingers scrambled to pick up the money, flipping through it in disbelief. "Shit... Thanks. I really needed this."

Enzo gave him a small wink before turning and walking away. As he strolled back over to Adeline, he noticed the small, teasing smile curling at the corners of her lips.

"What?" he asked.

Adeline gestured toward Lucas, who was still staring at the money Enzo had given him, looking like he had just won the lottery. "Well, I observed. But judging by the look on your face, I’m guessing you didn’t get any useful information."

Enzo scoffed, turning his head away and adjusting the lapel of his jacket as if deeply offended. "Bold of you to assume I didn’t."

"So... did you or did you not?"

He turned back to her, flicking a finger against her forehead lightly, causing her to blink. "I did get information..." he said, but his words trailed off as he paused. His hand hovered in the air for a moment before he shrugged. "Well... kind of."

Adeline crossed her arms, waiting.

"That guy said he has seen the guy we’re looking for around here before. Which means he does exist, and Miranda was telling the truth after all. But I still don’t know where to find him, so I guess we just have to keep asking."

Placing a hand on his chest, Adeline stepped past him, her eyes scanning the room until they settled on a bartender standing behind an empty counter. She muttered to herself, "I can’t believe I’m about to do this."

Enzo’s eyes followed her movements, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise as her fingers went to the second button of her shirt. She undid it, revealing the delicate curve of her collarbone and the faint line of her bra.

"Really?" he drawled. "This is how you’re going to get information? You don’t need to unbutton anything to get a guy’s attention, you know."

"You could get the guy to spill his entire life story with just your pretty face alone. You just need to hope he’s single, or else you might see his partner dive through a window and tackle you."

But Adeline didn’t respond.

Enzo towered over her, waiting for her to button back up, but she didn’t. She simply stood there, staring back up at him.

Unable to resist, his hands reached out and swiftly buttoned up her shirt, his fingers grazing against her skin as he did so.
