With perfect timing, Damien’s hand shot out and caught Nolan by the throat. "You don’t want to give up, do you?" he hissed, before slamming him down into the floor.

Without waiting for him to even catch a breath, Damien raised his boot and stomped it down on Nolan’s face. The stomp caused Nolan’s head to snap back violently, the sickening sound of cracking bones echoing through the chamber, but Damien didn’t stop.

He stomped again, then again, each one harder than the last and the floor beneath Nolan’s head denting with every impact.

The sound made Julian, still clinging to his chair, gag as he clutched his stomach with one hand. It was all too much for him, even if he couldn’t see it through the dust.

Argilia glanced at Petrov, and they shared a knowing look, nodding at each other.

Petrov raised his hand, commanding the air around him to bend to his will. A powerful gust of wind surged toward Damien and Nolan’s location, devouring the dust and clearing the air around them. With a snap of his fingers, the wind came to a halt, leaving the air clear and still once again.

As the haze dissipated, the brutal scene came into view. Damien had finally stopped stomping, standing over Nolan’s broken body with his boot pressed against his bloodied face.

Nolan was barely conscious, his body twitching weakly.

"Lord Damien," Argilia called. She waved both hands, and thick chains erupted from the floor. They wrapped tightly around Damien’s body, coiling from his waist to his shoulders, pinning his arms to his sides, and locking him in place.

Damien didn’t bother struggling against them and simply stared at her.

She shifted her gaze to Nolan, focusing her attention on his battered form. With a flick of her wrist, she conjured up another set of chains, which slithered and wrapped around his unconscious body, ensnaring him in a tight embrace. She then gestured with her hand, pulling him towards her, his limp form leaving streaks of blood on the floor.

Petrov landed beside her and approached Nolan. He crouched down and examined his condition, checking the extent of his injuries. "He’s in terrible condition."

He turned to Julian and waved his hand, using his powers to manipulate the air around him. Julian let out a startled yelp as he began to levitate, his arms flailing about uncontrollably in a panicked state.

"Calm down, my boy," Petrov said gently, setting him down beside Nolan. "Can you heal him?"

"More like fix him," Argalia said as she stepped closer, lowering her hands and causing the chains coiled around Nolan to disintegrate into thin air.

Julian knelt beside Nolan, taking one of his bruised, bloodied arms in his hands. He examined it briefly before nodding. "I can heal him, but with how bad his condition is, it will leave scars. His body’s been through too much."

The sound of chains snapping suddenly echoed throughout the room. The thick chains that had bound Damien shattered and clattered to the ground. Everyone turned to see him standing amidst Argilia’s restraints, straightening his clothes.

As he started moving in their direction, Argilia tensed, her expression hardening into a deep frown. In response, she also began to approach him. She stopped right in front of him, planting herself firmly in his way and jabbing a finger at his chest.

"What is the meaning of this? You almost killed Nolan! And for what? We’re not supposed to be fighting in here, let alone tearing each other apart like animals! You’re the king, Damien. You’re supposed to be better than this."

He said nothing as she gestured around the room– the shattered walls, cracked floor, and debris scattered across the council chamber. "Look at the mess you’ve made. Do you even comprehend how many centuries this room has stood unscathed until today? This is going to cost us time, effort, and resources to repair!"

Damien calmly waited for her to finish speaking, adjusting his cuffs. When she was done, he said, "He had it coming, councilor Argilia. Hopefully, he learned a valuable lesson today."

He then glanced around the room with disinterest. "As for the council chamber, I’ll have it repaired immediately."

Argilia scoffed, disbelief written all over her face. "A valuable lesson?" She turned her head and pointed at Nolan’s unconscious body on the floor. "Is this your idea of teaching someone a lesson? Beating a council member to within an inch of his life?!"

Damien offered no reply, nor did he bother to spare Nolan’s body a glance. Instead, he turned on his heel and strode toward the exit, leaving Argilia standing there like a fool.

"Unbelievable," Argilia muttered under her breath, shaking her head as he disappeared from sight.

Meanwhile, Julian focused on his task, his hands glowing faintly as he prepared to channel his healing energy into Nolan’s body.

He gripped Nolan’s palm tightly, and as he did, his hazel pupils faded, leaving only the whites of his eyes. The glow in his hand moved from himself to Nolan, slowly spreading across his body.

Petrov and Argilia both watched silently as Nolan’s wounds began to knit themselves together. His bruised skin turned smooth, and his broken bones began to realign. The blood vanished, leaving behind only faint marks of where injuries had once been.

When Julian was done, his eyes returned to their normal color. He stared down at Nolan’s still body, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Argilia approached, adjusting her dress before kneeling beside him. "Is he dead or what?" she asked bluntly, looking at Nolan’s face with a puzzled expression.

Julian shook his head. "No, he’s not."

"Then why isn’t he waking up?"

Just then, Nolan’s eyes abruptly snapped open, and he gasped loudly, his body jerking upright into a sitting position. Argilia jumped back in surprise, her hand flying to her chest.

"Damn it!" Nolan yelled, clutching his head as if it were splitting open. He let out a scream, his wings retracting into his back with a sickening sound.

Petrov stepped forward and placed a hand on Julian’s shoulder, giving him a small pat. "Good job, my boy," he said with a small smile. "You’ve really improved. I remember when you couldn’t even heal a wounded bird, and now look at you."

Julian stood, bowing his head in acknowledgment. "Thank you, Councilor Petrov."

Nolan groaned as he pushed himself to his feet, but as soon as he stood, his body tensed, and his eyes widened in pain. He clutched his stomach, letting out another agonized scream. Staggering toward Julian, he jabbed a finger into the younger man’s chest.

"You! If you healed me, then why does it feel like my entire body is being ripped apart?!"
