Okay, it turned out Princess just wanted to cuddle with me and not have sex. My wild mind was just going to different places for no fucking reason, and I felt a little stupid for even thinking about it. I lay there beside her as she pulled me into her side, holding me like I was the only thing in the world that mattered. I was so close to her that I could feel her heart beating. I felt the warmth in her embrace soaking into my skin.

She didn’t say a word for a long time. All she did was bury her face in the crook of my neck to sniff my hair and then give it a soft kiss.

"Do you like this?" Princess asked, her voice vibrating against my skin.

"Hmm..." I muttered, closing my eyes.

"Does the hmm mean yes? Be honest with me, please."

"Fine, I like this. Your arms are warm and your scent is covering me like some kind of thick blanket. This is really good," I confessed.

"No need for the actual blanket then. I will be your blanket and keep you warm forever," she said.

I looked down at her hand resting against my stomach and reached out to touch her palm. This felt like the right moment for me to finally ask her. I needed some kind of clarification for what we were doing. I needed to know the rules.

"Princess, can I ask you a question?" I said, my voice barely a whisper.

"You can ask me anything you want, omega," she said.

"What exactly is our relationship status? You said mate friend the other day, but what we’re doing right now is what people in a romantic relationship do. So what are we?" I asked.

"I’ve been wondering about that lately too," she admitted, shifting so she could look at me. "My last relationship with Kiara wasn’t a romantic one.... It looked like it to everyone else, but it never actually felt like it to me. I don’t know how you’ll feel about this, but can we just be what we are for now? We don’t need to put a label on it until we know for sure. Let’s just be co-parents, let’s be friends, let’s be mates. Let’s just be us. We belong to each other, Omega. That’s the only part that’s certain."

I turned my body to look at her fully. I reached up and touched her face, my thumb tracing her jawline.

"Okay. Let’s just belong to each other then. And also, I need you to find me when you feel lost or when you just need someone to talk to. Let’s be everything to each other. Let’s learn how to actually understand each other too," I said. I do hope she understood what I meant by that statement, instead of her locking in for days and being cold.. she should just find me and hug me to feel warm..

We couldn’t name our relationship yet, even if I secretly wanted to, but we could just exist as we were and not force things to move faster than they should.

"Do you want to move in with me?" Princess asked suddenly. "I’ve never asked anyone that before, not even Kiara, but as my mate, I think we should be living under the same roof. What do you say?"

Wow. That was fast. My head started spinning.

"My brother would never allow it. Right now, I’m sure he wouldn’t have it wherever he is. He doesn’t trust anyone with me, Princess. I don’t know why, but it feels like he’s trying to protect me from something. He’s been doing that for a long time, and he is not going to stop." I said.

I started wondering if the reason we left Redwood was the same reason we left Oakland in the first place 6 years ago. I remember when we were leaving Oakland the first time; it felt like we were on the run from something or someone. Something wasn’t right back then. The more I think about my past, the more I feel like there’s a massive piece of the puzzle missing.

"Well, when we get back to Oakland, I’ll personally ask your brother for permission for you to move in. I’ll protect you just like he has been doing. You and our pups are my anchor, Omega."

"That is so cool. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I wish you the best with that talk," I joked.

Never in my life did I think I would be in the arms of this bitch, this close to her. I wondered where my shame and my dignity had gone. I couldn’t believe I was actually enjoying her company. I went from hating her, to becoming pregnant with her pups, to becoming her friend, and now this. It may not have a name yet, but I really hoped we got one soon.

I watched as Princess slowly closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep with her arms still wrapped tightly around me. I stared at her sleepy face for a long time, then my eyes moved down to her lips. Something crossed my mind.

I leaned in, intending to give her just one short, quiet kiss while she was sleeping. My lips almost touched hers, but then she opened her eyes. Our eyes locked instantly. I blinked, frozen in place.

"Do you want to kiss me?" she asked, a sleepy smirk forming.

There was no way I was going to say yes and let her call me a pervert for the rest of the day.

"No, I was trying to bite your nose. You’ve been annoying today, so I wanted to get back at you," I said, cutting myself off from the embarrassment. I playfully bit the tip of her nose instead, then tried to pull away.

"Naughty, naughty, Alpha," I muttered, about to lie back down and pretend it never happened.

But she didn’t let me go. She pulled me closer and kissed me for real. My intended short kiss turned into a long, deep one. Princess explored my mouth, and the moment started to heat up fast. We were just about to take things further, our bodies tangling together, when I lost my balance.

I fell right off the edge of the bed.

"Oh my God, are you okay?" Princess said, sitting up immediately and looking over the side.

"Yes, I’m okay. It’s just the water," I grumbled, trying to push myself up.

"Your water broke already?" she panicked, her eyes going wide.

"No, you dumbie."

I would have teased her more for that, but my mind was totally focused on what I had just fallen into. There was water everywhere. It was all over the floor, covering the floor in a shallow pool. It looked like some kind of flood was happening inside the hotel.

How the fuck is there water in this room?
