What the fuck just happened?

A werewolf heart was ripped out, but not with claws.

The image refused to leave my head. The way it looked when she held it.

Still holding my bleeding nose, I stood up from the ground. My knees felt weak for a second. My eyes were still locked on Sasha, who was still holding the heart.

Her fingers were red. Her palm was red.

I can’t believe I was trying to save someone who didn’t need saving.

"Holy donuts, how did you do that?" Malo said.

His voice sounded breathless. He had seen the whole thing. He was still lying on the ground. His back pressed into the dirt. He struggled to stand up, but all he could do was sit and stare at the body. His eyes were wide.

I turned back to her when I heard the thud of the heart hit the ground.

The sound was soft. Wet.

I stepped backward, trying to get away from her.

"I swear I don’t know how I did that," she said, coming closer to me.

Her hands shook. Her voice shook too.

"Don’t move or try to pop my heart out," I said, walking slowly to Malo.

My eyes never left her.

"I promise you guys I really don’t know how I did that. You have to believe me," she cried out, still coming closer.

Her breathing was uneven.

"Fucking stop moving and stay right there." I pointed my hand at her.

My finger stayed locked on her chest. She nodded and stood still.

I noticed the fear on her face. She was scared. Her eyes were filled with tears. Her lips trembled.

I helped Malo to his feet, then found his crutch for him to lean on. He grabbed it tightly. Malo was still looking at the dead body. He did not blink.

"That is Peamah Frost," he muttered.

The name hung in the air. I had heard that last name before. It scratched the back of my mind.

"Peamah Frost, as in Beamah Frost?"

"Yes. He is Beam’s elder brother. He is in class 12," he confirmed.

His voice was quieter now.

"We have to do something before someone sees him and we all go to jail," Sasha said, still standing where she was.

"Fucking we? You fucking killed him. I don’t know how you did it, but it’s you and only you," I yelled.

My voice echoed louder than I expected.

"We are all accomplices. My sister works for the GPF. She is going to believe whatever I tell her. I will confess, but you too. You bit him. That is enough evidence..." Sasha said.

Her eyes moved between us.

"Fucking shut up and stop trying to complicate this mess. I was trying to save you and this is how you are going to repay me?"

My chest rose hard. I can’t believe this. I wasn’t expecting a thank you. But not this.

"Well, I happen to be the one who ended him."

"Oh, now you are admitting it."

"Can you two stop? That dude is dead. And purple hair, if your sister works for the GPF, did she tell you who the chief is? His father is the chief. So whatever story you are cooking, it will not work. You killed his son. There is nothing you are going to tell him that will stop him from putting you behind bars... or having us killed..." Malo said.

I don’t fucking give a damn about who he was or what she did.

I didn’t kill him.

"Fuck shit, Malo, let’s go. My brother is home. He will be wondering where I am," I said as I put Malo’s hand on my neck to support his movement and turned, preparing to leave.

We barely took a step.

Then suddenly I felt this pain in my chest. Sharp. Sudden. I was burning up. My breath was stuck. My throat tightened. I began to choke. Air would not come in.

"No one is leaving here. I can deal with three deaths," Sasha said.

Her voice was calm now. Fucking calm.

I turned to Malo. He was also choking. His fingers clawed at his throat.

I thought this bitch said she doesn’t know what she did.

"What are you doing?" I said choking. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

My voice barely came out.

Her words came slowly. Like she was explaining something simple.

Sasha finally stopped after we agreed to help with what she was doing.

I bent slightly, tried to find a tree to lean on.

My hands pressed against the rough bark.

I should have just listened to Malo and looked away.

"So we find a shovel and dig a hole," Sasha said.

"A hole for what?" Malo asked.

"To bury him idiot," she snapped.

"Yeah, that’s a good idea. Bury him right here in the woods and maybe tomorrow or during the full moon when werewolves roam around, they find the body. A non idiot should know that," Malo said.

"So where do we take him then?"

"A place that reeks of dead bodies," he suggested.

"Okay then. The cemetery."

"Faye can you help lift the body to the car?" Sasha said.

"Fucking no. You fucking carry your cross."

"Do you want your heart ripped?"

I helped carry the dead body to the car.

The three of us lifted him. His arms hung loose. His head rolled to the side. We put him in the car boot.

"Faye," Malo called.

"What?"

"Your bloody nose is dripping," he said as I realized my blood was on the dead body.

I wiped my nose with the back of my hand.

Another fucking piece of evidence.

I am sure my blood is all over the place.

The drive to the cemetery felt longer than it was.

Nobody talked. The headlights slid across the road and trees.

We finally got to the cemetery. It was close to the woods.

The place smelled old.

After arguing about who should dig, we took turns until it was enough. The shovel kept hitting the dirt.

We don’t even know how many feet. But I am sure it was three. My arms ached. My palms burned.

While Sasha was still digging, she ordered us to get the body.

"That bitch is crazy. I always knew there was something odd about her since 3rd grade," Malo whispered.

"You should have said that before you let me go into the scene," I said back.

"I told you not to do anything, but you wanted to play hero and now look at us... villains."

"Villains?"

"You know, opposite of being a hero."

"Fucking shit. Do you know what she is?" I asked.

"I don’t know but the closest I can get is a were witch."

"But were witch don’t do that kind of thing, removing one’s heart from the back. The were witch that I know only does chants, mixtures, vodoos shit, but she did not say anything. Plus were witches are not that bad," I said.

Malo gave me a stare. A long one.

"Are you fucking kidding me? Were witches are one of the most dangerous weres. One time I heard that a were witch hexed an Alpha to massacre every single member of his pack."

"That’s a myth," I said.

I had also heard of that story before. But there was no evidence that it was true.

"Hello, the deeper this hole goes the more I change my mind. Do you guys want to join him?" Sasha shouted.

"I will fucking kill that bitch," I said as we both carried the body out of the car.

Since Malo legs were limping, I was doing most of the job. The body felt heavy. Dead weight.

His face touched my skin and I felt his body.

It was still warm.

Which felt oddly wrong.
