Faye’s POV

The moment I opened my eyes, I realized I was in a foreign room. It wasn’t the cottage, and it definitely wasn’t Princess’s club.

I was lying on a bed that felt too soft, and the second I tried to sit up, a sharp, stinging pain shot through my wrist. I pulled back my sleeve to check, but there was no visible injury. No blood, no bruises. Yet, it felt like my skin was being slit open over and over again by an invisible blade.

A dull migraine settled in right behind my eyes, making the room throb.

I looked around. There were no windows in this room, just four walls and a single wooden door. It felt like a high-end prison cell.

I forced myself to stand up, but a wave of dizziness hit me instantly. The floor seemed to tilt. I grabbed onto the heavy bed frame for support, my knuckles turning white as I waited for the world to stop spinning. My legs felt weak, like they were made of jelly, but I forced myself to move. I couldn’t stay in this room. I needed to get out and find a way back home.

I walked straight to the door and turned the handle. It wasn’t locked.

The moment I stepped out, the first thing I saw was a massive, glittering chandelier hanging from the ceiling. It cast long, dancing shadows across the hallway.

I looked around the upper floor. There were multiple doors lining the corridor, all of them identical and closed. Then I glanced over the railing and saw a large, open living room below.

A mansion.

That was the first thing that came to mind, judging by the expensive polished floors and the grand structure of the house. It was quiet, the kind of quiet that felt heavy.

Right in the center of that living room, sitting on a plush couch, was a woman with vibrant ginger hair. I couldn’t see her face clearly from this angle because she was leaning over, completely focused on a thick, old book in her lap.

I looked around for a way down, and my eyes landed on a wide staircase.

It was long, winding down toward the main floor. I took the first step, then the second, moving slowly. My body still ached from whatever Yuki had done to me, and being pregnant made every movement feel twice as hard. By the time I got halfway down, my breath was coming in short gasps. I had to sit down right there on the steps, clutching the railing and trying to catch my breath.

I hated this.

I hated the fact that I had actually trusted Yuki. I had looked up to her. I thought she was a good person, a hero, my idol. I thought she was someone who I could be friends with...

But she kidnapped me. She drugged me and threw my phone away like I was nothing.

Why?

I needed answers, and I needed them right now. I needed to get out of wherever this place was before things got even worse.

"I see you’re awake..." the ginger-haired woman said. She didn’t look up. Her eyes remained fixed on the yellowed pages of her book.

"Who the fuck are you, and where the fuck is Yuki Bangs?" I asked. I didn’t even try to stand up yet. I just sat there on the stairs, glaring at the back of her head.

"You should go back to your room. You don’t look well at all," she replied. Her voice was calm, almost soothing, which only made me angrier.

"I asked a question. You answer me. Who the fuck are you?" I snapped.

Fuck this.

I pushed myself up, using the railing to steady my shaking legs, and walked the rest of the way down. I marched right into the living room and stood in front of her. Even then, she didn’t look up. She just kept reading like I wasn’t even there.

"Helen Maverick," she said finally, her voice steady. "That’s the name you’re looking for."

She closed the book with a soft thud and leaned back against the couch, finally lifting her head to meet my eyes.

That face.

I knew her. It clicked in an instant.

"You... you’re that woman from the were shop," I said sharply. I remembered her clearly now. She was the one who helped paid for the wolfsbane.

"I see you remember," she replied, a small, knowing smile touching her lips.

"What is the meaning of this? Why am I here? And where is Yuki? Tell me where she went!"

"Yuki is out. She has things to attend to, but she’ll be back soon. I suggest you take a seat, Faye. You really don’t look well," Helen said.

And just like that, without even realizing I was doing it, I found myself sitting on the chair across from her. It was the same woman I had met two months ago, and now she was holding me captive in some mansion in the middle of nowhere.

I still didn’t know why Yuki had done this. I didn’t know what her angle was.

But one thing was clear to me. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. This wasn’t good.

It felt like I was trapped in a lion’s den, and the lion was just waiting for the right moment to bite. There were no exits in sight, and my body wasn’t cooperating. There was no escape.

I swallowed hard, trying to clear the lump in my throat.

Princess... will come for me, I know she will find...

I hoped she would. I prayed she was on her way. Because I hated this feeling. I hated being weak, and I hated being held against my will while my life was being decided by strangers.

"What do you want from me?" I asked. My voice sounded smaller than I wanted it to. I was weak. They had definitely done something to me, some kind of magic or drug. My strength felt... off. It felt drained.

"Your cooperation," Helen said. She watched me with those sharp, calculating eyes. "I need you to heal my son. That’s all this is about."

I blinked, confused. Was I some kind of miracle healer now?

"Uh... Ms. Helen, I think you have the wrong girl. I’m not a doctor. I’m just a Grade 10 student who happens to be pregnant. I don’t even know chemistry. Being a medical doctor isn’t on my list of career goals at all..." I said, trying to stay as calm as possible so she wouldn’t see me shaking.

"Your blood is the key to healing my son," she said, ignoring my protest. "It will free him from the eternal pain he has endured for years. It is the only thing that can."

Oh.

So that’s what this was really about. The blood I had given her that night for her concoction. But it still didn’t make any sense. I was just an omega. I was at the bottom of the food chain. There were plenty of omegas in the city she could have snatched.

So why go through all this trouble for me?

"If you’re looking for omega blood, there are plenty of us out there. Why go through the trouble of kidnapping me? Why me?" I asked.

Helen’s gaze sharpened, her eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made me want to shrink back into the chair.

"Faye Grande... you are not just an omega. You are something far more rare than a simple rank," she said.

She leaned slightly forward, her voice dropping to a whisper.

"Your kind only appears once every 500 years."

A long pause stretched between us. I could hear the clock ticking on the wall.
