Faye’s POV

Finally, it was 8 p.m. Time to go home. The double doors of the school closed behind me with a loud, echoey click, and the cool night air hit my face instantly, making me feel like I could actually breathe again after being trapped in that stuffy room for 5 straight hours.

I couldn’t believe I was finally going to see my kids. My arms literally ached to hold them, my mind filled with images of their small faces and chubby legs after spending the entire afternoon staring at boring historical dates and biology diagrams.

The moment I stepped out of the school premises, I saw a van. It was parked right under a dim streetlamp, the dark paint looking slightly dusty under the yellow bulb.

It had Starpants & Co. written on the side. The bright white letters were painted in that bold, slightly crooked style that Malo had chosen himself.

Malo was in the driver’s seat. The dude was already asleep. His head was tilted completely back against the headrest, his mouth slightly open as his chest rose and fell in a deep, heavy slumber.

I knocked on the window, and he immediately jumped up like he’d just woken from a nightmare. He was holding a taser gun, but when he saw it was me, he relaxed and rolled the window down.

"What’s up with you?" I asked. I leaned against the door frame, looking down at his wide, panicked eyes.

"Thought you were one of those crazy bikers," he said. He rubbed his face with his free hand, trying to wipe away the sleep as he shoved the taser into the glove compartment.

"Still troubling uhn?"

"Yes. I was on my way here, and they blocked the road, saying they were having a picnic. It’s a narrow road, so I couldn’t turn around. I had to wait while they sat there and smoked the shit out of whatever they were smoking," he explained. He gripped the steering wheel tight, his jaw locking up as he remembered the long delay.

I sighed. Those bikers needed to leave us alone. They were becoming a serious pain in our lives... I would have asked Princess to smitten them but seeing her put her attention to the pups I don’t want to stress that girl.. she was already trying to be the pups mama.

"We have to do something about them so they stop with the fucking harassment... Why are you here anyway?"

"Princess asked me to pick you up. I’ve been here since 7." He said..

The thought of my girlfriend looking out for me made me blush. A warm heat crawled up my neck and into my cheeks, a small smile breaking through my exhaustion at the absolute sweetness of her gesture.

She did the same yesterday, but it wasn’t Malo who came to pick me up. She came herself, bringing the pups with her, and we had a good night out before heading home. We had stopped by that little diner down the road, sharing a massive plate of fries while the babies giggled in their bucket seats.

The pups must have been tiring her out. That had to be the reason she sent Malo instead. Managing four little Alpha for a whole day while keeping up with her own schoolwork was enough to drain even a high-level Alpha’s energy completely.

I was about to enter the van when Beam came over and handed me the textbook I had forgotten in the classroom.

Malo noticed the way we communicated, and he wasn’t having it, but he stayed quiet as we both watched Beam ride away on her motorcycle. He gave a sharp, disapproving snort from the driver’s seat, his eyes narrowing through the windshield as the loud roar of her engine tore through the quiet parking lot.

Yeah, Beam rode a motorcycle now instead of driving a car.

Ever since she started dating the girl from the convenience store, she had changed. Her appearance and mannerisms were different. She still had attitude, but she was calmer than she had been during that awkward relationship with Kiara. She was a progress..

"So, are you two friends now?" Malo’s voice made me turn away from the motorcycle and look at him. He was still sitting in the van with his hands on the wheel. He threw an annoyed glare toward the fading red taillights down the street.

"Definitely not, but she’s a good teacher and she’s going to help me pass my exams. She’s actually pretty good at teaching," I praised. I climbed into the front seat, pulling the door shut as I set the textbook down onto my lap.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good teacher," he muttered. "Don’t forget she’s my enemy, and as my best friend, my enemy is your enemy."

"Why?"

"Besties are supposed to share the same enemies. And remember, you made me become friends with Sasha and Peamah. So Beam should be your enemy too." He argued, turning his head to look at me with a completely deadpan expression as he shifted the van into drive.

"I can’t believe you still won’t let go of her breaking your leg," I muttered. I pulled the seatbelt across my chest, clicking it into the lock with a loud snap.

"Not just my leg. She’s been breaking my bones since preschool. Countless bones broken by her," he explained. He tapped his shin against the pedal, as if reminding himself of all the times he’d ended up in a plaster cast because of her temper.

"I’ve broken your jaw several times," I pointed out...

"Well, that’s because you’re my best friend. You’ve been breaking my bones since we were two, so it doesn’t count. But Beamer Frost is our enemy. Repeat after me: Beamer Frost is our enemy."

I looked at him.

He was completely serious. His eyes were wide and unblinking, his hands gripping the steering wheel so tight his knuckles were furious.

"Beamer Frost is our enemy," I repeated. I rolled my eyes toward the ceiling of the van, giving in just to keep him from launching into another massive speech.

"Good. Now let’s go grab some groceries before heading to the Clubhouse," he said as he drives. He pulled out of the parking lot, the tires crunching loudly against the gravel as we headed toward the main road.

"Groceries?"

"Princess texted me a list of things to buy." He reached into his pocket, tossing his phone onto the dashboard where a long list of bullet points was glowing on the screen.

After shopping for groceries, the cart was loaded with supplies. Most of it was a restock of baby food and diapers. The kids had outgrown their previous diaper size, and the remaining packs were just lying around in the nursery.

I grabbed some snacks, drinks and a few food items too.

And lots of milk, that girl needs to stop using my milk for her cereal and coffee.

Also the kitchen needed restocking. I tossed in a couple of bags of chips, some soda cans, and a loaf of bread, completely filling up the remaining space until the cart was bursting at the seams.

We finally got to the counter to pay, and it was Beam standing there in a blue vest. Beside her was her girlfriend, Tisha, who was also wearing a blue vest. They were standing behind the electronic register, the bright lights making the fabric of their uniforms look slightly shiny.

Beam was helping her with her job. She was carefully scanning a box of laundry detergent, her expression completely focused while Tisha leaned against the counter beside her, whispering something in her ear that made Beam smile softly.

"Well, it looks like our enemy is also our cashier," I whispered to Malo. I nudged his elbow with my arm, pointing a finger toward the front lane where Beam was working.

He let out a small grunt, pulling his phone out of his back pocket as we pushed the heavy cart up to the conveyor belt.

While Beam was busy packing our items, Bambi and her biker friends walked into the convenience store.
