"Okay, Faye, these are the toiletries, and I don’t think they are meant to be in the kitchen," Malo said the moment he stepped out of the kitchen.

He dropped the nylon bags on a desk, the plastic crinkling loudly in the sudden quiet of the room. Then he looked at Faye, who was busy staring at Kiara.

He wondered if they were having a staring contest. The way they were looking at each other was intense, like if one of them broke eye contact, they might end up dying. Their eyes were locked like two wolves waiting for the other to make a wrong move.

Even though they were both smiling, it still felt like a no-go zone. The air between them was so heavy and thick that Malo looked like he wanted to turn around and run straight back into the kitchen.

Quietly, he opened the fence door, locating his little sister among the Alpha pups. The moment he spotted Charlie, he gently picked her up.

Unfortunately, he interrupted the little girl while she was playing with her toys, and she immediately started crying. Her tiny face bunched up, and she let out a sharp, piercing shriek that rattled the entire game room.

Breaking the girls’ stare-down. The loud crying finally forced Faye and Kiara to snap their eyes away from each other, the heavy tension breaking instantly.

Faye looked at Malo carrying his sister.

"Are you going home already?" Faye asked. She turned her head, her voice dropping into a normal tone as she watched him try to bounce the screaming toddler.

"Yes, I am leaving," Malo replied.

"Fine. On your way out, drag Kiara out too."

Faye said it casually. She shrugged her shoulders, looking back down at the two boys who are busy playing with her arms..

Kiara simply sighed and walked out of the clubhouse. Afterall she was leaving.

"What was that look?" Malo whispered to Faye. He leaned in close as he adjusted his grip on his crying sister.

"Nothing. It was just a friendly look."

"That looked like a deadly look," he said as he tried to remove a toy from Charlie’s grip so he could start heading home. The little girl was holding a toy so tight, letting out another loud whine when he pulled at it.

Faye noticed.

"Just let her take it," she said.

"This is like the sixth toy she has taken home. How many more toys does she need?" Malo grumbled, throwing his hands up in frustration.

"Well, kids like new things and easily get tired of them. Like Donny, she doesn’t like playing with the same toy she played with yesterday, and Leonny gets bored easily. That’s why Princess buys a new collection of toys every week." Faye explained, looking at her own kids.

Malo placed his sister inside her stroller, ready to leave. He buckled the safety straps with a quick click, making sure the little girl was secure.

"Goodnight, Alpha pups, and goodnight, Bestie," Malo said before leaving the clubhouse. He pushed the stroller through the front door, heading to his house.

As Faye played with the pups, her mind couldn’t get over what Kiara had said. The words kept looping in her head, heavy and irritating, making her stomach feel completely tied in knots.

She knew Kiara was never going to let Princess go, but with Princess constantly assuring her that she had no interest in the girl, Faye’s mind had been at ease. She had simply started seeing Kiara as Princess’s best friend. She had forced herself to accept the girl being around the clubhouse all the time, pushing her jealousy down as much as possible.

But Kiara had reopened the wound, making her feel insecure about Princess and Kiara spending two weeks together. The thought of them alone in this room every single afternoon while she was locked in detention made a hot flare of anger rise in her chest.

She didn’t even realize when Princess returned to the clubhouse and sat down beside her.

Faye turned and saw Princess.

"When did you get here?" Faye asked, forming a smile.

"About two minutes ago. Looks like you were deep in thought. Were you thinking about me?" Princess asked with a smile as she leaned in, aiming to kiss her girlfriend. She tilted her head forward, her eyes bright and affectionate.

"You had a shower?" Faye asked, noticing the scent of lavender soap and mint. The fresh, clean smell hit her nose instantly, completely blocking out the heavy scent of the game room.

"Yeah. I just finished taking my medicine, so I decided to hit the bathroom," Princess replied. She wiped a stray drop of water from the side of her neck, her skin looking slightly flushed from the heat.

"You’ve been taking your medication more than usual," Faye noted.

"My prescription was changed, so that’s why."

"Okay.... Princess, can Kiara not come here while I’m at school? Just for two weeks." Faye blurted out, her voice dropping into a serious, desperate whisper.

"Why?" Princess asked, her smile fading into a look of pure confusion.

"I don’t trust her around you. I feel like she wants to take you away from me," Faye admitted honestly. She looked right into her girlfriend’s eyes, letting all the fear and insecurity show on her face.

"I’ve told you several times that I’m already taken by you, and it doesn’t look like she has that intention." Princess said softly, reaching out to wrap her arms around Faye’s waist.

"What if she does?"

"She doesn’t. Trust me. We’re just playing video games, and now that our defense player isn’t going to be around for two weeks, we need to focus on training. I would tell her not to come here for two weeks, but we have to practice for the upcoming esports tournament. We’re playing against a professional team in three weeks. If we win, we qualify for the league."

Princess gently tried to reassure her girlfriend. She rubbed her hands up and down Faye’s back, her touch warm and steady as she explained the schedule.

"Faye, you have to trust me."

"I trust you, but I don’t trust that Kiara," Faye replied. She let her head drop against Princess’s shoulder, the stubborn weight in her chest refusing to move even a single inch.

"Okay, enough with the trust issues. Tell me, how was your day?" Princess asked, changing the topic. She gave Faye a gentle squeeze, trying to bring the light mood back into the room.

"My day was kinda good. I hate detention, but it turned out okay. Beam happens to be a really good teacher."

"Good teacher?" Princess looked surprised, her eyes widening slightly at the praise.

"Yes. The principal made her my tutor. She’ll be teaching me for two weeks before my exams."

"What happened to the teachers? Are they on strike or something?"

"The principal saw Beam and me working together in the classroom while the teacher was asleep, so she got fired. As much as I don’t like Beam, she’s good at teaching. Better than most of the teachers." Faye said, remembering how simple the biology lessons had felt when Beam explained them.

"Obviously. That’s because she loves teaching. Even when she’s having a bad day, she still likes explaining things whenever someone asks her to," Princess said. She let out a small laugh, her shoulders shaking slightly against Faye’s side.

"I’m hungry. I haven’t eaten anything since lunch break." Faye muttered...

"That’s perfect. Today I made enchiladas. Want some?" Princess asked. She hopped up from the floor, her face bright as she headed toward the kitchen doorway.

Soon everyone was in the kitchen. The pups sat in their high chairs, lazily sucking on their pacifiers. Their small eyes were half closed, their little bodies completely exhausted after a long day of playing inside the barrier.

Princess served Faye a plate and asked how it tasted.

Faye took a bite and immediately gave her a thumbs-up. The food was hot and perfectly seasoned, making her wanting more the second she tasted it.

It was delicious.

"Wow, pancake, you’re really impressive when it comes to cooking. I love it," Faye praised. She took another quick forkful, chewing happily.

"I thought it was going to turn out badly, but Kiara showed me the proper process. I’m glad you like it." Princess said, a proud smile taking over her face as she leaned against the counter.

"Kiara was here in the kitchen?" Faye asked. She stopped chewing completely, her fork freezing halfway to her mouth.

"Yes. She was feeding the pups when she noticed I was struggling with the recipe, so she helped teach me." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Immediately, the once-delicious food turned sour in Faye’s mouth. The warm cheese suddenly felt like cardboard, the heavy taste of the sauce making her stomach turn completely over.

Hearing that Princess’s ex-girlfriend had helped make the meal was a complete turnoff. It felt like Kiara’s fingers were all over the life she was trying to protect, invading even the food on her plate.

She dropped her fork and stood up.

Then she picked up Minny and Donny, who were already dozing off. She gathered them into her arms, ignoring the confused look written across Princess’s face.

"You can bring the other two inside. Goodnight."

Faye quietly left the kitchen. She carried the babies down the hallway without looking back once, her jaw set tight as the bedroom door clicked shut behind her.
