Faye’s POV

Fuck, I had been unconscious for two months.

When I finally woke up, the world felt like it was made of heavy gray lead. I sat up slowly in the hospital bed, my muscles stiff and protesting every tiny movement. A nurse, dressed in crisp white that hurt my eyes, placed a small plastic cup of pudding that looked like translucent jelly on the tray in front of me. Sasha and Malo were already in the room. They were sitting in the corner, watching me with expressions that were a mix of relief and deep sadness. They started filling me in on everything I had missed while I was asleep, talking about the news and school, but I wasn’t really listening. My eyes kept searching the corners of the room, looking for that one specific person.

"Where is Princess?" I asked. My voice sounded weak and thin, like a ghost of itself, but the worry behind it was loud enough.

"She’s up on the hospital roof right now, probably having a smoke," Malo said. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Oh. She’s taking her meds. That was why I couldn’t sense her around.

"You know, Faye," Malo added, his voice getting a bit more serious. "Let’s just agree to not trust anyone outside our circle ever again. No more making new friends. It’s just us from now on."

"Okay," I replied lazily. I didn’t have the energy to argue. He was right, the three of us are enough.

I picked up the small plastic spoon and stared down at the pudding. It looked like suffering in a cup. It was cold and wobbly and reminded me of everything I hated about being trapped in one place.

"Can I get something else instead of this? Anything else?" I asked the nurse. She was busy checking my IV lines, her fingers moving fast. There were so many tubes coming out of my arms. I wondered just how much fluid and medicine they had pumped into my system while I was out. The monitor beside the bed beeped steadily, marking every heartbeat with a sharp electronic pulse. I felt exhausted just sitting upright.

"You really need to eat this so you can regain your strength, Ms. Grande," the nurse said. She didn’t even look at me, her voice professional and detached.

Something inside me snapped.

Memories flooded back in a cold, dark wave. I saw Helen’s face. I saw Yuki forcing those plates of food in front of me, smiling that fake smile and telling me I had to eat for my strength. They said the same thing while they were preparing to drain me.

"I don’t fucking want this. Get me something else! Take it away!" I shouted. I swept my arm across the tray, knocking the plastic cup off. It hit the floor with a dull thud, the contents splattering against the tile.

I pressed my hands to the sides of my head, trying to find a way to breathe. The monitor was still beeping. It was loud. It was sharp. It was nonstop. It felt like it was drilling holes into my brain.

What the hell is that noise...

"Turn that fucking sound off! Make it stop!" I yelled, my voice cracking.

Malo and Sasha rushed over to the bed, their hands out to try and calm me down, but I couldn’t stop. My mind was spinning in circles, dragging me back to the mansion. I was losing it. I felt the walls of the hospital room closing in, turning into the room they kept me in.

Then, a strong arm wrapped around my shoulders. A familiar, deep caramel scent hit me instantly, cutting through the smell of bleach and medicine.

I knew who it was without even looking.

I turned and clung to her tightly, burying my face in her shirt. I was shaking so hard the bed frame rattled.

"Princess... I don’t want it. Please get me something else. I don’t want it..." I said, my voice dissolving into a whimper.

"Calm down, baby. I’m here. I’ve got you," Princess whispered. She pressed a soft kiss to the top of my head, her hand stroking my hair. "I’ll get you whatever you want, okay? I’ll get you something else. Just breathe for me."

"The room is so fucking loud... make it stop... please make it stop..." I cried, the tears finally breaking through.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the nurse approaching again. She was holding a syringe, her eyes fixed on my IV port. She was trying to inject something to settle me down.

For a terrifying moment, she wasn’t a nurse anymore.

She was Helen. She was standing over me with a sharp blade, her eyes cold as she got ready to cut my wrist again.

"No! No! Stay away from me, you witch! I said stay away!" I screamed. I clutched Princess even tighter, digging my nails into her arms, trying to pull her between me and the needle.

Princess held me firmly, rocking me back and forth like I was a small child. She kept whispering over and over again that she was right here, that she wouldn’t let anyone hurt me. Her voice was the only thing I tried to focus on, but the room was already starting to blur.

Then everything faded into a thick, black fog. The nurse had finally injected the sedative into my line.

When I opened my eyes again, the room was quiet. The harsh lights had been dimmed. Princess was still sitting right there beside me, her chair pulled up as close to the bed as possible.

The moment she saw my eyes open, she didn’t say a word. She just leaned forward and pulled me into a gentle, warm hug.

"Baby, I’m right here, okay? No one else is in the room. Just me. I’m always going to be here," she whispered into my ear.

I held onto her and just started crying. The weight of the last monts, the missing time, and the trauma of the woods all came crashing down at once.

"You weren’t there... Why didn’t you come and rescue me? I waited for you every single day. I looked at the door until my eyes ached... you know..." I sobbed, my voice muffled against her neck.

"I’m so sorry. I should have been faster. I should have found you sooner. I’m sorry, baby..." she said. Her voice broke, and I felt her own tears wet my hair.

"I waited for you... They used me like an animal. I kept waiting and waiting... Why did you take so long to find me?"

"I’m sorry... I’m so sorry..." she repeated. She just kept saying it, over and over, crying with me as we held onto each other in the dark room.

We stayed like that for a long time, both of us crying. I kept blaming her, letting out all the anger and the fear I had bottled up while I was a prisoner. I asked her why she was late. I asked her why she didn’t know where I was.

She didn’t get angry. She didn’t defend herself. She just kept apologizing, her voice thick with her own pain.

Even after that night, I couldn’t feel like myself again. It was like the old me was gone.

My mind was still trapped back in that mansion. I could still feel the phantom sting of Helen slitting my wrist. I could still hear Yuki’s voice in my head, forcing me to eat. It wouldn’t stop, no matter how many times I told myself it was over.

In the middle of the night, I would wake up screaming or crying, my heart racing so fast the monitor would go off.

Princess was always there before I could even sit up.

She would hold me, calming me down with her scent and her touch. She would stroke my back in slow, steady circles until I finally fell into a restless sleep again. She never left my side. Not for a minute.

She was the only one I allowed to touch my food. She was the only one I allowed to feed me. I wouldn’t take a bite from anyone else, not even my own brother.

Whenever I needed to use the restroom, Princess was the one who helped me up. She cleaned me up when I was too weak to do it myself. She took care of every single thing I needed, every single day without a single complaint.

Even when my brother and the others came to visit, trying to bring some life back into the room, Princess stayed right there. She sat by my side, her hand always touching mine, making sure I knew she wasn’t going anywhere ever again.
