Princess went to visit Adam in his office at the Kings hotel, walking through the lobby with a frantic energy that didn’t fit the quiet luxury of the building. She was hoping to get his support, to see even a flicker of sibling loyalty in his cold eyes.

After explaining everything to him, how her girlfriend had been kidnapped by Yuki and how she desperately needed a squad of men to follow her to the Free City, he refused. He didn’t even hesitate. Their grandfather had put Adam in charge of the family’s domestic operations, giving him the authority to command the wolves as he saw fit, but he shut her down instantly. He told her plainly that she was on her own.

Adam sat on a black single-seat couch, leaning back comfortably as he read through some thick legal files. As usual, his suit was neatly fitted to his frame, and his black shoes were polished to a mirror shine. He didn’t look up as he crossed his legs, listening to his little sister plead her case. Princess stood right in front of him, the heavy weight of a glass center table acting as a barrier between them.

"Come on, Adam... my family is in danger. I’m not asking for a favor, I’m asking for resources. I need you to give me the go-ahead to take some men from the GPF," Princess begged. Her voice was thick with a desperation she rarely showed.

"I told you, this is beyond my control. Grandfather issued a direct order that you are not to be granted access to any pack resources," he said, flipping a page in his folder without a hint of emotion.

"I’m your sister. We’re family. Blood is supposed to mean something. You should be helping me right now," she argued, her hands gripping the edge of the table.

"I’m afraid I have to obey the Alpha. He has absolute authority over this pack. I cannot go behind his back and do something that will tarnish our reputation or my standing in his eyes," Adam replied.

"Reputation... that’s all you care about. I know you dance to his tune like a good little soldier, but right now I’m begging you. Don’t think about perfection or the family image. Your sister is begging you to help her save her family... please, Adam, help me."

Adam remained completely unmoved. He didn’t even flinch at her tears.

"I suggest you leave now. You’ve overstayed your welcome, and I have a schedule to keep," he said coldly.

"What about the fact that she’s carrying my pups? My legacy? Your own nieces or nephews?" Princess said, folding her arms across her chest, her voice rising in pitch.

"If only you had married that girl when I told you to, we wouldn’t be having this conversation at all. She is carrying illegitimate pups, Princess. They are not considered Kings material. I don’t care if they cease to exist. They are a stain on our history."

Hearing those words from her eldest brother felt like a physical slap to the face. It took the air right out of her lungs.

Princess already knew Adam followed orders blindly. He never questioned their grandfather, not once in his entire life. She knew he had the power to command the GPF to storm Blackjack and search every inch of that city for Faye, but he wouldn’t do it. He wouldn’t lift a finger unless their grandfather allowed it.

From the monitor on his desk, Adam’s secretary informed him that he had a meeting starting in five minutes. The clients were already waiting in the conference room.

He stood up, tall and imposing, adjusting his silk tie and smoothing out his suit jacket. He started to walk past Princess as if she were just another piece of furniture in the office.

"Leo was right about you... you’re just a puppet. You do whatever Gramps tells you to do without a second thought. You’re a disgrace to Mom’s memory... a bitch of a coward..."

She didn’t finish the sentence.

In a flash, Adam turned. He punched her in the face with a speed that she couldn’t even track. Before she could recover, he grabbed the front of her clothes and slammed her down onto the glass center table.

The heavy glass cracked and splintered under the impact of her weight.

Princess gasped for air, the wind knocked out of her as sharp pain shot through her spine and ribs. She tried to move, to push him off, but her body felt like it was made of lead.

Her eyes locked onto Adam’s. They were no longer the calm she was used to. They were glowing a fierce, electric blue.

He didn’t say anything at first. He calmly removed his expensive watch and his coat, laying them neatly on the couch. Then he began to roll up his sleeves, his movements slow and deliberate.

"That fight in the octagon was embarrassing," he said, his voice dropping to a terrifyingly cold whisper. "I was with Grandfather. We were watching you together. You couldn’t even land a single punch in the first round. If you had been serious about your lessons instead of being love-dumb and soft, you would have ended that girl immediately."

He stepped closer to the broken table, looming over her.

"A normal werewolf snapped your neck so easily. It was pathetic. Grandfather was so ashamed of your performance he couldn’t even look at the screen anymore. He told to showed you how a fight should actually end."

He stood over her, one foot planted firmly on the floor beside her head as she struggled to breathe through the pain.

"You’re my little sister. I didn’t want to do this because, in my own way, I love you. If I were truly the puppet you think I am, I would have punished you the very day you brought shame to our name....."

His voice remained eerily calm, which made the situation even worse.

"But now you have your own family to worry about. Which means you’re not a child anymore. You want to play at being a protector? Then you need to learn what that actually costs."

He reached down and grabbed her wrists, pinning them tightly against her chest so she couldn’t strike back.

"It’s time I treat you the same way I treat Leo when he steps out of line."

His hand moved to her face, hovering there for a split second.

Then....

He punched her.

Hard.

Princess groaned with each heavy blow, her head snapping back against the cracked glass. She was unable to defend herself against his superior strength and speed. Adam kept hitting her, his fists a rhythmic blur, until she could no longer move or make a sound. Her face was quickly covered in bruises, swollen and bloodied.

Finally, he stopped. He let go of her wrists and stood back, his breathing barely even.

Adam reached into his pocket, grabbed a clean tissue, and wiped her blood from his hands. He rolled his sleeves back down, buttoned them with precision, and put his coat back on, smoothing out the lapels until they were perfect again.

"That’s how you should have won that fight," he said, looking down at her broken form. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"If you’re not strong enough to take what you want, you don’t deserve to be an Alpha. How do you expect to protect your family in the real world if you can’t even defeat a mere wolf in a ring?"

And with that final word, Adam Kings walked out of the office, closing the door softly behind him. He left his sister broken on the shattered glass of the table, not looking back once as he went to attend his business meeting.
