"Okay, make a wish and blow your candle," I said. The small flame flickered in the quiet of the room, casting dancing shadows across her face.

Princess raised her head to look at me, then she turned to the cake, closed her eyes for a long moment, and blew out the candle. The smoke curled into the air, smelling like vanilla and burnt wax.

"So, what did you wish for?" I asked in a playful manner. I was trying to keep the mood light and I also wanted to know.

"Do you really want to know?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Yes, that’s why I asked. You can’t keep a wish secret from the mother of your pups, so tell me."

"Okay... I wished for you to be mine. Only mine," she said. Her voice was low, and it sent a shiver down my spine that had nothing to do with the cold.

I scoffed, trying to hide how much that affected me.

"Ha, you were my first kiss, the first Alpha I punched, and the girl I unknowingly gave my virginity to... you already have a lot of my firsts...."

"First kiss?" She stopped, her eyes widening.

"Yes. Turns out my first kiss was with you, Princess... don’t make jokes about it. I was just as surprised as you are," I said, looking down at the cake.

"Wow, that’s fascinating, does that mean you are also getting your memory back? Are the pieces finally fitting together?" she asked, leaning in closer.

"No, Malo told me about it. From becoming nemeses to friends... then something else... he laid it all out for me the other night," I explained.

Holy shit. Why did that slip out? My heart did a frantic jump in my chest. Malo was supposed to have the same memory wipe I did, according to the official story. Oh my goodness, I have to think of something. I need an excuse, and I need it fast.

"Yes... he’s starting to remember too. It turns out his memories are coming back to him in fragments. It’s not like he’s known for a long time. He’s regaining them now, slowly. Bits and pieces from the playground and the school hallways," I said. I felt the sweat starting to prickle at my hairline. I should probably shut up before she reads my mistakes and fishes out my lies. Princess is too smart for her own good.

"You should eat your cake," I said quickly, trying to change the subject before she could cross-examine me.

"But there’s nothing to slice the cake with. How am I supposed to eat it? Did you expect me to just face-plant into the frosting?" she asked, looking amused.

I stared at the cake. She was right. I should have grabbed a knife from the kitchen before coming to the room. I was so focused on the surprise and the candle that I didn’t think of the logistics.

So I did the only thing I could think of. I used my two fingers, dipping them into the soft cake. I scooped up a decent amount of frosting and sponge, just enough to feed her.

"Whoa... I love this kind of feeding. You know, I wouldn’t mind you feeding me with those two fingers for the rest of my life..."

I rolled my eyes. She was turning everything into a moment.

"Just open your mouth, girl..." I said.

"Yes, Mommy..."

Why on earth would she make this sound so... horny? I’m just trying to feed her birthday cake so it doesn’t go to waste, not make it some intimate performance.

Princess’s eyes stayed locked on mine as she closed her mouth around my fingers. It was slow and deliberate. I felt her teeth press gently against my skin, then the warmth of her tongue as she took the cake. I felt her swallow, the movement of her throat visible in the dim light. Then she began teasing my fingers with her wet tongue, swirling around them.

I felt everything. Every tiny sensation was magnified. I tried to pull away, my heart hammering against my ribs, but her teeth didn’t let go. She held me there, trapped in that wet, warm pressure.

I let my guard down. I felt my resolve crumbling, giving in to the slow seduction of the moment.

"Aww, Princess..." I moaned uncontrollably. The sound escaped me before I could stop it.

She finally released my fingers, but she didn’t let go of my hand. She held it and began to kiss it slowly, moving from the tips of my fingers to my knuckles, layer after layer. It was gentle, almost clinical, like she was trying to find every single one of my weak spots.

Every kiss made me react. Her teasing was relentless until she finally moved up and kissed my lips. It was sweet and tasted like chocolate frosting.

But suddenly, my body betrayed me. A wave of nausea hit me like a physical blow. I pushed her aside, barely giving her a chance to react, and rushed to the bathroom. I fell to my knees and started to throw up.

All the nonstop food finally caught up with me. The barbecue, the side dishes, the cake. It was too much for my stomach to handle. I emptied everything into the toilet while my head throbbed.

Princess was right there behind me. She took care of me, pulling my hair back and rubbing my shoulders while I was miserable. She didn’t look grossed out at all. She asked Mr. Richard to prepare ginger tea and bring it up immediately. She told me she had been reading a lot of books on pregnancy, preparing herself to take care of me through every symptom.

I still blamed her for what happened, even as she was being nice. If she had stopped feeding me nonstop like I was a prize pig, I wouldn’t be in this position.

After drinking the ginger tea, which settled my stomach just enough, we went out to the balcony. The night air was cool and crisp. Both of us sat in the moon chair, a thick blanket wrapped around me. I rested my head on her chest, listening to her heart. She gently patted my back, a rhythmic, soothing motion, until I finally fell asleep.

It was Friday.

After school, Princess didn’t take me home. Instead, she took me to the Kings’ private graveyard. It was different from the public Oakland cemetery. It looked more like a columbarium, built with white stone and clean lines. The Kings cremate their dead instead of burying them, keeping the ashes in small, ornate niches.

Alphas are difficult to kill, but there were still so many names written on the wall. Rows and rows of them. It made me wonder how they all died. If they were so strong, what finally got them?

Princess took me to a small, secluded garden within the walls. I saw the name engraved in the stone... Princess Kings. That was her mother.

"My mother gave me her name because I am her first daughter," Princess said. She had a small, sad smile on her face. She reached out and held my hand tight.

"Hi, Mom. This is Faye Grande. The girl I told you about, she’s the mother of my pups and my marked omega," she said to the wall.

Then she turned to me, her eyes softening.

"Omega, this is my mom, Princess Kings."

"Hi, Mrs. Kings... nice to meet you," I whispered. I felt a lump in my throat.

"You are family now... my family," Princess said, pulling me into a hug.

I hugged her back, holding on tight. I didn’t spend time with my own mother. I don’t even remember what her face looked like or how her voice sounded. I was only 2 when she died. It must have been so hard for Princess to have that bond, to know her mother, and then lose her at such a young age on her own birthday. I wondered how that felt, that kind of loss. I wondered if I was there with her back then, if I was the one who held her hand while she cried.

"So this is where you are, little princess..." a voice called out.

"Aunty Faye!"

I turned around to see Dina. She was walking toward us, and beside her was a young man. He had striking, long blue hair that shifted in the breeze and was holding a bunch of flowers.
