Faye’s POV

"Oh it’s you again" Princess says as she walks up to me and the other one who name happened to be Kiara or whatever folded her arms giving me a sussy kind of look like I care. I removed my hand from Kaye’s eyes and he quickly went into the car.

"Yes it’s me again as much as I hate it, fuck off."

"Baby, I heard her call us bitches," Kiara said.

"I heard that, but it’s an omega, the weak ones. I am not going to waste my strength on her."

"I am not weak, let’s fucking duel right now, claws against claws and let’s see who is left standing."

Before I could finish talking, the Kiara girl made a bitching laugh that felt like she was mocking. It scraped across my skin. My jaw tightened. My fingers twitched at my side.

"You better stay away from us and if you know what is good for you I don’t want to see you around me at my school from tomorrow, or you are going to experience the worst of all."

"I am not scared of you, just because you are an Alpha that doesn’t mean I should be? Guess you haven’t seen an omega tear off an Alpha," I said proudly, even if I too have never seen one. I won’t let these two break me. My voice came out steady. I made sure of that.

Princess stepped a bit closer to me and stopped just one step away. Close enough for me to see the small scratch near her jaw. Close enough to smell her perfume. She looked down at my left hand. I resisted the urge to hide it behind my back.

"If you vex me for a third time, that hand of yours won’t be the only thing I break. Every single bone in your body will be screaming in pain. Look omega, I believe Oakland is a big city. Don’t let me see your face again," she said as she held Kiara’s hands. "Come on darling, let’s find somewhere else to hang out. This parking lot reeks."

They brushed past me. Her shoulder clipped mine on purpose. I stayed still. My nails dug into my palm. My heart was beating too loud. I wanted to do something. Step forward. Grab her hair. Say something worse. But I just stood there.

In Redwood no one dared to talk to me like that. They would test you, yes. Push you. But not like this. Not with that calm threat.

What did she think? I am some weak omega who will fold in a corner and be scared of her because she is an Alpha or whatever.

I swallowed. My throat felt dry.

I am Faye Grande and I am not going to let them have their way.

The next day I arrived at school. Well as expected everyone now hates me, but I gave them a mean look for every mean look. I walked through the hallway with my shoulders straight. If someone whispered, I turned my head just enough for them to see my face. Most of them looked away first.

I am not the type of girl who is easily bullied and goes in a corner and starts crying like some fairy tale princess.

During lunch I sat down alone to eat my lunch. I didn’t care about the total silence when I entered and the whispers. I just walked straight, sat down at one of the empty chairs.

I ignored the Alpha princess during class time. We did not even stare at each other. She did her thing and I did mine. When she answered questions, I kept my eyes on my notebook. When the teacher called my name, I stood and answered without looking in her direction. As long as I avoided her I wouldn’t make matters worse.

But my mind would not stop thinking about her and her chick because when I see a student with their phone I get reminded easily that I lost my phone to heels. Every time someone laughed at something on their screen, my pocket felt empty. My fingers would move out of habit, searching for something that was not there.

This happened for two weeks with everyone with the heel faces but no actual violence and gang fights on me. I am totally surprised about this school, how everyone minds their business.

In Redwood the school there was totally opposite. There if you breathed wrong someone would push you just to see if you would push back. Here they just stared. Whispered. Walked past like I did not exist.

Sometimes that felt worse.

But the main thing was I was fucking phoneless. The silence of my pocket felt louder than the cafeteria. At night I would lie on my bed and stare at the ceiling and imagine it lighting up with notifications. Nothing.

I tried asking my brother who recently got a job in some club as a bartender with Eriko who also works there. I begged him to repair my phone but he refused. He would wipe his hands on a towel and say he was tired. He would say later. He would leave the room.

I am sure it’s because he used the opportunity so I wouldn’t reach out to Guru.

I was peacefully sitting down in the cafeteria having my lunch when Malo sat across from me with his tray. He did not ask. He just dropped down like he owned the chair. The tray rattled.

"Hey freshwolf, wassup."

"What do you want?" I did not look up immediately. I took another bite.

He stabbed his fork into something that looked like mashed potatoes. "I know you are mad because of the silence treatment the whole school has been giving you but it’s kinda your fault you know."

I looked at him then. "I didn’t do anything wrong."

"You punched the princess when she wanted to give you a handshake. Is that not a wrong thing?"

"She was going to punch me."

He leaned back slightly. "Whatever. There is a party going on tonight, you know it’s the weekend and..."

"I am not going out with you." My tone came out sharper than I expected.

"Chill out, freshwolf. I am not here to ask you to go out with me, okay. I was just trying to invite you. Maybe if you come things might reduce and you could make some friends and maybe Princess gets to drop her... you know friendly environment."

"I don’t want to be friends with the Alpha princess, honestly I am okay like I don’t need friends." I picked at the edge of my sandwich. My appetite was already gone.

"Thought you needed to make friends with the trio."

"Yes until I realized that the trio are the ones I wanted to mess up with but Malo I am happy like this."

He watched me for a second. His eyes did not look mean. Just curious. Like he was trying to figure me out.

"Okay but if you change your mind the party is happening at the club down the street. It’s called lunny club. Think about it Freshwolf your life could change," he said as he went on to the other table and I heard him also inviting them.

I stared at my food long after he left. Life could change.

There is no way I am going to some club party. No one is at home and I have to babysit Kaye. That was the plan. Stay home. Heat leftovers. Pretend I do not care about what anyone thinks.

The moment I got home I saw Kaye with Dina both entering a car. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Where are you guys going?" I asked as the driver who normally dropped Dina during the weekend came out of the car.

"Good evening madam, Mr Kings already called, the kids are spending the weekend at his house."

Kaye gave me a small wave through the window. Dina looked excited. The door shut. The car pulled away. The sound of the engine faded.

And just like that I was alone in the house. Phoneless. Eriko and my brother have a shift and are not coming back until tomorrow morning. The house felt bigger without their voices. The ticking clock in the living room sounded sharp. The fridge hummed.

I kicked off my shoes near the door. The sound echoed more than it should have.

I laid on my bed. Turned to one side. Then the other. The sheets felt too warm. Then too cold. The ceiling looked blank. I have never had a house to myself. In Redwood there was always someone. Music. Yelling. Guru’s voice. Even silence there had weight. Here it just felt empty.

I covered my face with my arm. Then uncovered it.

I sat up. My chest felt restless. Like something was pushing from inside. I told myself I was just going for a walk. Just air. Just to see the lights in town and come back.

I changed into a hoodie. Tied my hair back. Locked the door behind me.

My feet carried me further than I planned. Past the grocery store. Past the quiet houses. Past the corner where the streetlights flicker. My steps slowed when I recognized the street.

And I swear I had no idea how I was standing in front of the Lunny club.

The neon sign glowed above the door. Music leaked out every time it opened. People laughed. Girls in short dresses. Boys with too much confidence. Someone bumped shoulders with me and did not apologize.

I stood there. My heart thumped once. Hard. Then again. I could still turn back. Go home. Lock the door. Sleep. My hand hovered near the door handle.

Spoiler alert I should have just begged Dina and Kaye and followed them. Because the moment I stepped into the club my life really did changed I don’t know if it was for good or for bad. But I should have never entered that club.
