"Okay, first, her last name is Bangs, not Fangs...." I said, putting my foot down. I had to stop her right there because this wasn’t the first time I’d heard Princess say Fangs with that weird, sharp bite in her voice. I didn’t know if she was doing it on purpose to be a jerk or if she really thought it was her name, but I had to correct her before we continued this argument.

"I know her last name. It’s Fucking-Bangs, short for Fangs.... I can’t believe you didn’t tell me you were hanging out with her. I had to hear it from the kids.. sending me a bunch of videos of you two together..."

Really? Those two were actually recording me? I felt a flash of heat in my face. Dina and Kaye were officially on my list of people to deal with, again. They weren’t just snitching; they were providing visual evidence.

"I was going to tell you, but I forgot... it just slipped my mind. Every time I was around you, the heat, that feeling of just wanting to be close to you and nothing else.. it occupied my entire mind," I explained. I wasn’t just making excuses; I was telling the absolute truth. When I was with her, the rest of the world usually just blurred into the background.

"Alright then, I also would have told you about Kiara, but it also slipped my mind," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

I gave her a blank look, my eyes flat.

"That is a fucking lie, and you know it," I said. There was no way she compared forgetting a neighbor to forgetting she brought her ex back into her inner circle.

"So you’re telling the truth, but I’m telling a lie? What is Yuki doing in that house anyway?" Princess asked, her eyes narrowing as she stepped toward me.

"She said she doesn’t like the hotels here in Oakland. So she saw Eriko’s attic listed on AirBnB and took it," I said.

"Oh, what a coincidence, isn’t it? There are many places to rent in this town, even better than Riko’s dusty cottage. Why is it the one you stay in? That Fangs is after you, Omega. I can see it in her eyes." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"What kind of celebrity hangs around with their fans like that? Looking at them like they’re the only person in the room? Look, I know people like Yuki. I’ve dealt with them my whole life. She is not here because you’re her fan... she’s after something, and that something is you."

What the fuck is wrong with this girl? Yuki is not into me like that... why is she making this so much harder than it needs to be? I’m the one who should be angry at her for becoming besties with Kiara again, not her for this nonsense about my neighbor.

Then she decided to change topic.

"So... I talked to your brother. I told him I want you to come live with me. I said it straight to his face.. and surprisingly, no door was slammed on me. He didn’t even yell the word no. He said he has no problem with that. I told him I’m going to take care of you more than he ever did," she said, her chin lifting proudly.

"When did that even happen?" I asked, my heart skipping a beat.

"It turns out your brother happens to be working for Adam now..."

"No, my brother is a bartender. I think he works at one of Leo’s clubs. He told me that himself," I argued.

"Yes, he was working for Leo as a bartender, but now he’s Adam’s personal bartender. He couldn’t exactly say no to my face when I asked him right in front of his boss, could he?"

So my brother’s sleepless nights and all that overtime were because of Adam Kings... what the fuck... I couldn’t believe he kept that from me.

He actually agreed for me to stay with Princess, and he didn’t say a single word about it yesterday when we were making up. If I had heard this earlier, maybe I would have been excited... but after seeing Kiara in that bunny robe, no fucking way am I going to live with Princess. I have my own life, things to do, and I want to stay and support my brother while he tries to get his own house. And also we were not dating...

"Princess, that’s a good thing, but I’m not staying with you... not now," I said, my voice firm.

Her expression changed instantly. The pride vanished, replaced by a cold, sharp hurt.

"Why? You’ve been wanting to stay with me for weeks. We agreed on that. What changed?"

"You broke up with me, remember?" I reminded her. I needed her to remember that she was the one who pushed me away first.

"Is it really because of that, or is it because your idol lives in your house and you want to be close to her instead?"

Not this again. Why was she constantly shifting the topic back to Yuki? It was like she was obsessed with finding a reason to blame me.

"Look, Yuki has nothing to do with whatever is happening between us right now. We have a bond, a connection. After all, you marked me. I can’t even have romantic relationships with others because of that, but you can," I said, the bitterness finally bubbling over.

That’s the thing about being an Alpha... they can have multiple partners, even if they have a marked mate. That’s why I was so angry about Kiara. Old flames don’t die easily, especially when they’re wearing your bathrobe. Kiara will always try to get back with her, that her number one goal.

Princess stepped closer to me, not touching me, but close enough that I could feel the heat radiating off her body.

"Yes, she is. I saw the CCTV footage from the school. You watching play basketball, having lunch together, her always standing in front of your classroom waiting for you to finish... I saw you two holding hands and laughing, finding every little excuse to touch each other... and you just let her. She’s the one, isn’t she? I didn’t know what to say. My throat felt tight. Why was she acting like this? Why was she still stuck on that type thing? I’m not looking for a type or a checklist of traits.

I just want to be with Princess. But right now, with Kiara back in her life and Yuki in Eriko’s attic, everything felt like it was spinning out of control.
