Lucien watched Carly, whose eyes were brimming with unwavering determination, and ultimately didn’t say much, just nodded lightly. “Alright, get ready. Once we arrive at Kosai City, we can proceed with the bloodline transplant experiment. If you have second thoughts in the next two days, I won’t say anything. But if you want to back out after the bloodline transplant, there will be no chance.”

“Mm.” Carly nodded emphatically, her gaze devoid of fear but filled with thick anticipation.

“Lilia, Lucien!” As soon as they disembarked, Lucien saw Bennett and his few attendants waiting on the pier. Compared to when they had parted ways previously, the number of Bennett’s attendants had decreased by five, and many were injured, clearly having engaged in battles on their way to Kosai Island.

However, what surprised Lucien and Lilia was the Chief Maid Fia, who had been following beside Bennett. Due to an injury on her chest which prevented her from perfectly concealing her own aura, she emitted spiritual fluctuations that belonged to a Third-level Wizard Apprentice.

“Fia had a lucky breakthrough when she was faced with the threat of death during the battle,” Bennett explained, noticing Lucien and Lilia’s gaze, yet he didn’t elaborate further.

“Did you also encounter fairies?” Lilia stared at Maid Fia for a moment before turning to Bennett. However, her right hand gently rested on the coarse cloth doll, Adeline, at her waist.

“Yes, we encountered a fairy squad, led by a Forest Spirit who’s at the level of a Third-level Wizard Apprentice. We suffered a slight disadvantage,” Bennett said, now looking towards Lucien’s group. From the word “also” that had slipped from Lilia’s mouth, he naturally inferred quite a bit of information.

“We, too, encountered a few fairies. However, they were all at the level of Second-level Wizard Apprentices,” Lucien added, then he looked at Bennett, “Do you have any of those fairies’ corpses? If so, you could sell them to me.”

“Sorry, I’m quite interested in them myself,” Bennett shrugged, appearing quite casual.

“Let’s first discuss the situation on Kosai Island, your trade can be resolved privately,” Lilia, growing somewhat impatient, interrupted Lucien and Bennett’s conversation.

“I want to know now, is Kosai City safe? And how exactly did those damned fairies find us?” Lilia’s cold eyes swept over the others in the group.

“The plan was hastily agreed upon by the three of us, yet on the way here, we were intercepted separately by the fairies with precision,” Lilia said, and suddenly her aura burst forth like an Iceberg on the verge of an avalanche. “If someone leaked information, then I think we should first find that informer and root them out!”

Several Second-level Wizard Apprentices slightly bowed their heads under Lilia’s ruthless gaze, not daring to meet her eye.

Bennett pondered for a moment then shook his head. “It is unlikely to be a problem within our group, since no one has left the team in private these days. I’m more inclined to believe that it’s some sort of strange detection method employed by the Forest Spirits.”

“Fog Tide,” Lucien voiced his opinion to the two disagreeing companions. “The Fairy Clan possesses innate abilities to manipulate certain special natural forces. Perhaps among them there are individuals capable of using the Fog Tide for detection.”

“However, right now those fairies are acting a bit too active and desperate, which doesn’t seem quite like they’re fighting for some magical plants within Fairyland. I think we could seek assistance from the academy. If a Formal Wizard took action…” Lucien continued, while discreetly observing every detail on the faces of the other two.

“No way, I object!” Lilia interrupted before Bennett could speak, displaying a fierce opposition. However, she quickly realized her outburst, slightly moderated her expression, and then adopted a calmer, analytical demeanor.

“Think about it, if a Formal Wizard comes over, we wouldn’t be able to return before things are completely settled here. We’d even have to obey the orders of those superiors, taking the greatest risks for minimal rewards…”

Bennett too, nodded repeatedly. To dispel Lucien’s thoughts of seeking help, he quickly followed up on Lilia’s words.

“Exactly, and the situation isn’t as bad as you think, Lucien. At least for now, Kosai City is still within our control. If those fairies truly had overwhelming strength or resolution, then Kosai City would have already fallen,” Bennett said.

“Moreover, Lucien, don’t you want to obtain a fairy’s corpse? If you miss this opportunity, it’ll be difficult to come into contact with these intelligent creatures again.”

Lucien nodded, as if convinced by Bennett.

Under Bennett’s arrangement, Lucien and Carly settled into a spacious building within Kosai City.

This place also seemed to have been the residence of a wizard in the past.
