“Hmm?” Lucien paused in his movements, his spiritual power radiating outward, only to discover that the approaching individual was a strange Second-level Wizard Apprentice.

“Lord Lucien, I am a student of Tutor Homer Bennett. Tutor Bennett wishes to invite you and Lady Lilia to meet tonight, to discuss an upcoming task we will be undertaking together …” as soon as Lucien opened the door, the Second-level Wizard Apprentice appeared exceptionally respectful.

“Bennett?” Lucien was first taken aback when he heard the name because this was a highly established Third-level Wizard Apprentice and also born in a Wizard Family with a Formal Wizard stationed. However, he had little direct interaction with him unless … Lucien thought of the other two unlucky ones who were also being dispatched to situate at Kosai Island and felt somewhat reassured.

Within a residence on the southern side of Greybone Academy, Bennett watched with a slightly sinister expression, the trembling servant in front of him, “Are these the patriarch’s exact words?”

“Damn the lowlife, the wretched family, and this godforsaken task!” Bennett cursed loudly, his eyes filled with madness.

He, born into the Boen Family with a fourth-class Talent and among his generation, was regarded as one with extremely high potential. But three years ago, while he attempted to ascend to Formal Wizard status, he was sabotaged by another Wizard Apprentice from his family during the promotion, leading to his failure to become a Formal Wizard and causing irreversible damage to his Spirit Sea, almost entirely severing his prospects of ever attaining Formal Wizard status.

Yet, when he expected his family to seek justice for him, or at least give him an explanation, they instead transferred all the previous resources and treatment to the scoundrel who had successfully betrayed him.

He himself was subsequently expelled from the family’s core circle to its periphery, not only drastically reducing his resources by ninety percent but also recalling some of his Witch Tools, dropping his power from the peak of Third-level Wizard Apprentice to slightly above average.

“Previously, they exploited my resources, taking back the benefits I had fought for, and now, under the pretense of maximizing family benefits, they’re sending me to undertake a suicidal mission!” Bennett’s eyes were almost bloodshot, yet he dared not vent his inner rage towards his family.

Bennett clenched his right fist and slammed the desktop fiercely, producing a thunderous sound.

“Master, outside Lord Lucien and Lady Lilia have already arrived.” A petite and pretty Maid respectfully approached Bennett, softly saying. The charred corpse lying on the floor did not alter her expression in the slightest.

“Good, I know, Fia. Help me clean up, I will personally greet my two partners.” Bennett offered a hearty smile, seemingly nothing like the menacing, angry person from moments before.

“Yes, master,” said the maid, Fia, as she respectfully curtsied, a soul-deep submission evident in her gaze toward Bennett.

Bennett glanced at the maid who had once been his enemy, smiling, yet there was a hint of cold sternness in the depths of his eyes.

If possible, he now wished even more to transform the so-called “heir” within his family into a servant as utterly loyal as Fia, whose soul was bound to him!

“Just wait, just all of you wait! I will survive, I must survive! After that, I must become a Formal Wizard, and I will kill all those bastards!” Bennett screamed in his heart, but the smile on his face became even more benevolent as he walked toward the door.

Now, he needed the power of Lucien and Lilia, and perhaps, at a critical moment, Lilia and Lucien might be able to take a blade for him, saving his life!

Outside the door, Lucien greeted Lilia, the Wizard who had arrived almost immediately before him, with kindness. Lilia, clearly in a bad mood, simply nodded slightly in response.

Lucien didn’t mind, since they were only temporary allies. Besides, the atmosphere among wizards was naturally cold, and someone like Lilia, who had an ‘unwelcoming to strangers’ manner, might actually be one of the more normal, communicative wizards.

Moreover, what mattered more to him was the mission information mentioned by Bennett during the invitation. Since he had specifically brought it up, Bennett evidently had some crucial information on hand.

Perhaps some of this information included distractions or misleading information, but it could still serve as a reference to some extent.

“Hahaha, Lucien, and Lilia, long time no see!” At that moment, from a residence decorated in a medieval noble style, a warm and hearty laugh was heard.

“This Bennett Wizard, seems to be one of the very few Third-level Wizard Apprentices keen on making friends, and he even treats his students well; it seems he has a good reputation among the lower-tier apprentices,” Lucien thought of his knowledge about Bennett.

However, based on the information left by the original body, this Bennett seemed to leave an impression that he was to be cautious of…

Lucien was on his guard, yet a smile also appeared on his face.

By now, Bennett had come out, greeting Lucien and Lilia with enthusiasm, his easy demeanor making him seem more like a sociable and skilled noble gentleman than an old Third-level Wizard Apprentice.

However, Lucien’s alertness only increased. After all, this was the cruel Wizard World, and a genuinely good person was unlikely to rise to Bennett’s current position.

“Come, come, let’s go inside and talk. Today, I’ve specially prepared some Little Fairies; although for us Third-level Wizard Apprentices the spiritual power boost from consuming Little Fairies is negligible, the taste of these magical creatures is still quite delicious…” Bennett, brimming with enthusiasm, ushered Lucien and the others into his residence.
