“Sigh.” Lucien closed the task scroll, exhaling softly.

Carly still wanted to say something, but Lucien interrupted her before she could. “This is a mandatory mission, Carly, so don’t say any more.”

Carly remained silent.

Inside Greybone Academy, the hierarchy was rigid. Apart from the elusive dean, who sat high in the clouds, Formal Wizards, Level 3 Wizard Apprentices, and other lesser apprentices constituted three distinctly separate classes.

Perhaps to the lesser apprentices, the Third-level Wizard Apprentices towered above them, playing the role of real oppressors. His real strength might not even match Apollo, who had sparred with Lucien before.

But the key is not the missing Second-level Wizard Apprentice, it’s the casually mentioned “dispatch of witchcraft apprentices to investigate, but none have been successful” in the task description.

According to what Lucien himself has learned, on Kosai Island, three Second-level Wizard Apprentices have vanished in succession, and one Third-level Wizard Apprentice and one Second-level Wizard Apprentice have died!

This matter even alarmed a Formal Wizard.

Just recently, Wizard Heli personally went to Kosai Island to investigate, but after inspecting for over a month, he found no suspicious clues and eventually had to return.

However, as Kosai Island is a precious island that produces the resource “Moonlight Moss,” the academy is not willing to let it go.

When he first crossed into the Wizard World, Lucien’s identity was that of a critically injured Third-level Wizard Apprentice on the brink of death, so when he used his system capabilities, to other wizards, he simply appeared as a lucky Third-level Wizard Apprentice who managed to recover from his injuries, not drawing too much attention to himself.

However, if in the following period Lucien’s strength, originally thought to be average for a Third-level Wizard Apprentice, surged like a rocket climbing levels rapidly, that might draw the interest of some Formal Wizards.

If the secret of the system was exposed, Lucien felt that just being intact on a Formal Wizard’s dissection table would already be considered lucky, and it was more likely that he would become the subject of joint research by a group of starry-eyed Formal Wizards, and then preserved as slide specimens for the long term.
