However, Lucien’s movements soon paused slightly because he saw at the edge of the chaotic crowd a middle-aged man in a butler’s tailcoat staring down indifferently at the tumultuous scene, his lips curving in an almost imperceptible arc.

When Lucien glanced at him, the steward also turned his head toward Lucien, then slowly lifted the corners of his mouth into a very standard, courteous smile.

"Let’s go!" Lucien’s pupils contracted slightly, and he quickly started moving forward.

The steward also averted his gaze and began slowly following Lucien at a leisurely pace, seemingly not trying to catch him but rather to herd him in a certain direction.
