Chapter 40 -40 Praise of Moonlight

In the trading zone.

“Hanks, I’m going to sell a batch of Recovery Potions,” Lucien went straight to a fixed stall of a Third-level Wizard Apprentice and stated his intention.

“Fortunately, the original owner was a half-baked Pharmacist; otherwise, it would be quite troublesome to sell a large number of potions directly now.” As he took out the potions, Lucien couldn’t help feeling relieved in his heart.

“Recovery Potions? Lucien, it looks like I need to congratulate you for finally succeeding!” Hanks was a chubby Third-level Wizard Apprentice, who looked exceedingly amiable and didn’t seem like a cold-hearted wizard at all, more like a shrewd merchant from all angles.

“Don’t mention it, do you know how much I’ve invested in practicing potion-making?” Lucien curled his lips, “Now that I’ve just about got the hang of Recovery Potions, but as you know, if the success rate isn’t high, it’s just earning hard money.”

Hanks smiled without responding to the latter half of Lucien’s words, but instead, carefully examined the forty Recovery Potions Lucien had brought this time.

“The quality of some of these potions is not up to standard,” Hanks picked out a flawed Recovery Potion, his expression becoming somewhat troubled.

“Name your price, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll wait a bit longer in the trading zone and go directly to the apprentices who need them; I can still make the sale, just wasting a bit of time,” Lucien shrugged, not objecting to Hanks’ scrutiny.

“Really, there’s no way to deal with you Pharmacists…” Hanks muttered, but still quickly counted the rest of the Recovery Potions and calculated a figure in his mind.

“Altogether, one hundred and twenty-five Magic Stones,” Hanks looked at Lucien. “You should know that’s the value of potions with imperfections.”

“One hundred and thirty Magic Stones then,” Lucien looked at Hanks and, seeing him almost pucker up his fleshy face to refuse, added, “I also want to buy fifty batches of Praise of Moonlight ingredients and its recipe from you.”

Hanks, who had just opened his mouth, immediately shut it, his small eyes flickering with shrewd light.

Praise of Moonlight was one of the most difficult elixirs to concoct at the Apprentice Rank, and the purchasing cost for just the ingredients of each batch was worth two Magic Stones!

There was a high profit margin involved, and for a Pharmacist to successfully concoct an elixir, the materials needed during the initial phase were not a small sum! Later, he could make up for the lesser profit from the Recovery Potions in this transaction, as well as in subsequent predictable deals.

“Fine then, consider it a gift for your successful transition to a Pharmacist, Lucien,” Hanks smiled.

Lucien also showed a smile; at least for now, his goal for venturing into the trading zone was essentially achieved.

Praise of Moonlight.

That was the Magic Potion Lucien finally chose to concoct. The main reason for using Praise of Moonlight as an adjunct to meditation was simple: its main ingredient was Moonlight Moss.

Once he arrived at Kosai Island, an island where Moonlight Moss was produced, acquiring this magical ingredient would become easier and cheaper; he would not have to worry about being choked by schemers upon leaving the Academy.

In his heart, Lucien had another plan.

That was to teach Carly how to concoct Praise of Moonlight. If he later acquired a better enhanced version of the Magic Potion, it was highly likely that the upgraded Praise of Moonlight would also use Moonlight Moss as a core ingredient or one of the core ingredients.

On Kosai Island, which was rich in Moonlight Moss, perhaps he could gather all the materials needed for the upgraded version of Praise of Moonlight. With the assistance of the upgraded elixir, his advancement to a Formal Wizard would surely be shortened accordingly.

“By the way, do you have any finished Praise of Moonlight here?” Lucien asked after receiving the Magic Stones and materials from Hanks, as something occurred to him.

“Looking for a sample?” Hanks laughed, but there was a hint of helplessness in his smile, “I’m sorry, but I don’t have any. As you know, Magic Potions like ‘Praise of Moonlight’ that assist in training are in high demand. However, if you have any finished potions to sell later, be sure to come to me. After all, unlike more common potions such as Recovery Potions, ‘Praise of Moonlight’ was a high-end product and very much a seller’s market. It wouldn’t be considered priceless, but it certainly wouldn’t lack for buyers.

In fact, from a certain perspective, advanced magic potions like ‘Praise of Moonlight’ could even be seen as more valuable than Magic Stones.

“By the way, Hanks, have you seen Nolian recently?” Lucien was about to leave when he suddenly thought of this. He turned toward Hanks and asked.

Lucien pulled out two Magic Stones and placed them on the table in front of Hanks.

“It’s not about the Magic Stones; it’s about principles. I can’t reveal clients’ information…”

Lucien then took out three more Magic Stones and placed them on the table, “I’m looking to purchase information.”

“He went to Bone Mound three days ago, said he was going to seclude himself there!” Hanks’s pudgy hands moved so quickly it was almost as if afterimages were visible. He snatched up the five Magic Stones from the table and, with his lips barely moving, conveyed the information softly to Lucien using spiritual power.

In the laboratory, Lucien was poring over a potion recipe inscribed on a large, special leaf, making sure he had fully mastered the entire process before carefully putting the recipe away. He then waved his hand and took out a set of ingredients for ‘Praise of Moonlight’ from the Space Ring.

Qi seeds, Moonlight Moss, and… Tears of a Beauty Shell.

“Fortunately, Qi seeds and Tears of a Beauty Shell are renewable resources. After purchasing the living Qi tree and Beauty Shells, as long as they are properly cared for, the costs for subsequent harvests are relatively low—the main expense lies in the Moonlight Moss.”

Lucien exhaled softly and began crafting the potion.

“Listen to the praise of the moonlight, a magnificent symphony composed by nature…” Lucien recited a poem-like chant in the Elf Language while intently watching a delicate sapling growing on the Moonlight Moss, nourishing the beautiful yet fragile plant with spiritual power in a special way.

The sapling shimmered with a silver hue akin to moonlight, swaying and dancing slowly under Lucien’s chanting and the nourishment of his wizardly power, growing at a leisurely pace.

Suddenly, the frail silver plant wilted in an instant, and the Moonlight Moss it was rooted in also lost its luster, its internal energy dissipating, turning into waste.

“Attempt twenty-one, a failure,” Lucien said calmly. He first used meditation to restore his spiritual power to its peak, then activated the system’s appraisal module, spending two points of reverence to assess his failed attempt.

“Was there a mistake in the manipulation of spiritual power?” Lucien nodded slightly, then tidied up the table and began his twenty-second attempt.
