“Once we get through the Gemlin Mountain Range ahead, we’ll reach the harbor town,” Mark led the way, but Lilia paused in her steps.

“Martin, why is the fog so thick on this mountain?” Lilia gazed at the mountain range shrouded in fog ahead, even though she didn’t sense any fluctuations related to witchcraft, she still felt that the fog was somewhat beyond the scope of nature.

As Lucian readied his defenses, not all of the Wizard Apprentices and servants were capable of fully fending off the arrows.

“Ah—” With several screams, some of the weaker Wizard Apprentices and servants were wounded by arrows, and two particularly unlucky individuals were shot directly in vital spots, falling dead without a sound.

The guide, Martin, at the forefront of the group, now also had an arrow protruding from his forehead. His body went limp and his right hand released its grip, allowing a recently unearthed spherical fungus to roll away into the distance.

Just as Lucian and Lilia were bracing themselves, the dense fog grew quiet, devoid of any further movement.

“Count the survivors,” said Lilia, her expression ashen. The casualties from that sudden ambush were significant on her side.

What’s worse, the Fairies active within the Fog Tide could clearly “see” them, while their own Probe Witchcraft was ineffective against the elusive Fairies.

They had only sensed something was amiss after the Fairies launched their assault.

“It must be the Forest Spirits,” Lucian moved beside Lilia, handing over the vine arrow. “They exhibit their greatest combat strength within the forest, and they also utilize certain trees and special plants to produce effects beyond our expectations.”
