The Bone Mound was located to the north of the Ash Valley Forest, which was actually a Natural Grand Canyon. However, due to its unique geographical environment, it hardly ever saw sunlight all year round and had a complex terrain, resembling a gigantic labyrinth. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Some people, wild beasts, or even certain demons who accidentally fell into the Bone Mound, if unaware of how to leave, would be unable to escape once they fell in, and would ultimately become just another skeleton within the Bone Mound.

After a long period of accumulation, the number of skeletons inside the canyon grew, and so did the resentment, pain, despair, and other negative emotions of the tens of thousands of creatures before their death. These emotions had accumulated over the years inside the canyon, resulting in an exceptionally high concentration of negative energy particles within the Bone Mound.

For some who practiced Necromancy, dark magic, or those who wanted to conduct undead, human body modification experiments, the Bone Mound was a natural material reserve. Here one could even find some precious undead, spirits, and other special creatures.

“Caw caw caw…” A crow flapped its wings, slowly descending from the “slit of sky” atop the Bone Mound.

After nimbly navigating through the many common sights of the Bone Mound, such as the stone forests, stone stalagmites, and even the piles of skeletons, its figure disappeared suddenly after passing through a seemingly ordinary stone forest.

If one followed the perspective of the crow, they would find that the “stone forest” it seemed to crash into was actually another world altogether, with even a few man-made structures inside, and even several Wizard Apprentices and some servants moving about within.

Clearly, the stone forest outside was just a disguise, a wizard formation using illusions to conceal this hidden base.

“Instructor, there’s news from the academy…” A Second-level Wizard Apprentice hurried into an underground hall. However, as soon as he began to speak, he paused abruptly, quickly lowering his head, not daring to disturb Nolian who was lost in thought.

“Speak,” Nolian said, wearing a black beak-shaped “filter mask” and steadily using a large bone needle and special sutures to sew up a wound on a bulky creature’s body.

The Second-level Wizard Apprentice glanced fearfully at the bulky creature beside Nolian, then quickly bowed his head. “Lucien Kevin has been in his laboratory these past few days, seemingly preparing for an outgoing mission.”

“By the way, he went out once, near the academy, seemingly for teaching,” the Second-level Wizard Apprentice added, as if recalling something else.

Nolian’s movements momentarily paused, and then he put down the large bone needle and turned to look at his student. The beak mask hid his expression, making the Second-level Wizard Apprentice even more nervous.

Nolian stretched out his hand, indicating for the Second-level Wizard Apprentice to hand over the letter brought by the crow directly to him.

Feeling as if he had received a reprieve, the Second-level Wizard Apprentice quickly handed over the letter, then retreated respectfully and left the basement. By the time he left, his back was completely soaked with sweat.

Nolian immediately opened the letter, briefly scanning the contents on the page.

“Hmm, it seems I overestimated you,” Nolian murmured, tearing the letter into pieces. Afterward, he picked up the suturing needle again and looked up at the bulky figure before him.

It had a body somewhat similar to that of a human but was more bloated, with various suture marks on its body. However, the suturing technique appeared rather rough, and through some of the larger gaps in the stitches, one could see the stuffing of a dark yellowish fat mixed with red-black streaks of blood.

“If No. 1 could devour the spirit of a Third-level Wizard Apprentice, its strength might improve by a whole level, right?” Nolian admired his masterpiece, his expression under the mask filled with frenzied excitement.

At night, a shadow silently moved through the silent Grey Valley Forest, making no sound at all.

Under the cover of tree shadows, a vague human face barely emerged from the darkness; it was somewhat recognizable as Lucien Kevin.

With a rustle—Lucien broke from the shadows, concealing himself behind this ancient tree. His eyes under the hood looked toward the further north.

Through the keen perception of spiritual power, Lucien could already feel a region ahead filled with dense negative energy particles, which must be the location of the Bone Mound.

However, Lucien wouldn’t foolishly barge in, as who knows what kind of tricks Nolian might have set up in advance inside the Bone Mound.

What he needed now was some “helpers”.

Lucien took out a handful of “sand” from his pocket and held it in his hand. Then, his lips quietly buzzed, silently chanting a special spell that resonated with the witchcraft model, while using the small handful of release material he was holding in his hand. The combination of the three brought the effect of this Zero-level Witchcraft to its maximum.

Soon, as the construction of the witchcraft model was completed, the small handful of “sand” in Lucien’s hand produced a faint smoke.

Lucien did not hesitate, quickly smearing the successfully enchanted material across his face.

Swiftly, Lucien felt his face begin to transform, especially his sensation seemed to include a slight burning feeling.

This burning sensation made Lucien involuntarily close his eyes, to adapt to the rapid transformation of his eyes under the effect of witchcraft.

At this moment, Lucien’s face was rapidly changing, especially his eyes, which in the blink of an eye, turned into a pair of large insect compound eyes, and the other facial organs also transformed to somewhat resemble the structure of insect tissues.

If someone looked only at Lucien’s face at this time, they might mistake him for some sort of insect-like monster.

Lucien slowly opened his eyes, briefly adjusting to the changes in his field of vision, and as spiritual power continued to pour into his witchcraft-transformed eyes, Lucien’s view began to constantly change.

At this point, Lucien felt like he was in a huge observation room, watching hundreds of “screens.” If he wished, he could easily control the mosquitoes that these screens represented, turning them into his eyes and most faithful servants.

Of course, Lucien was only sharing the view with these naturally existing mosquitoes and thus would not create the subtle mental disturbances that come from casting witchcraft. However, if Lucien wanted to control some mosquitoes to move or perform other actions through witchcraft, he would inevitably attach a fine layer of spiritual power on these mosquitoes during the control process, thus bearing the risk of exposure.
