Tap tap tap… Lucien’s fingers gently knocked on the wooden desk several times, his eyes were still on the information about the Fairy Clan, but in his mind, he began to recall everything Bennett had mentioned.

“What could draw a half-Fairy to Kosai Island at any cost definitely isn’t Fairyland. Bennett must know something, but he used Fairyland as a misdirection. That means whatever it is, it must be related to the Fairy Clan and highly beneficial to both half-Fairies and Wizards.”

Lucien narrowed his eyes and then picked up a Feather Pen, circling a word on the paper.

What could drive a half-Fairy mad could only be the bloodline of a high-ranking Fairy. Or perhaps the remains of a high-ranking Fairy, or even some other relics that could enhance a Fairy’s bloodline.

However, considering that such a thing might also attract Formal Wizards yet be difficult for them to obtain directly, Lucien felt that after eliminating these possibilities, there were only a few things he could think of.

In the end, Lucien wrote down two words on the blank area of the draft paper:

The former was easy to understand—it was likely where Fairy remains were hidden. Inside the tombs of some high-ranking Fairies, there was a high probability of finding their remains and extracting the bloodline of a high-ranking Fairy. The latter, on the other hand, was a building specially constructed by the Fairy Clan in ancient times for half-Fairies and other Fairy kin.

Its function was simple: “rebirth,” transforming other non-Fairy life forms into Pureblood Fairies at a certain cost.

This was one of the methods used by the ancient Fairy Clan to enlist their kin. As a race with advancement opportunities and profound connections to bloodline, the Fairy Clan naturally had their unique understanding of bloodline research, and many Wizards’ bloodline studies, if traced back, originated from the Fairy Clan.

And the Fairy Baptism Pool was the Fairy Clan’s masterpiece in bloodline research.

You see, the chasm between mixed blood and pure blood is an abyss. Although half-Fairies could gradually increase their Fairy bloodline concentration or even their bloodline rank through collecting bloodline elements and such methods, their blood would inevitably contain some “impurities,” which couldn’t be completely removed.

Therefore, even if their Fairy bloodline was transformed to reach 99.99% after enhancement, they could not be regarded as true Fairies and would still be considered half-Fairies.

The Fairy Baptismal Pool was a place where, through a process akin to the gestation of a fairy embryo, the baptizee’s original body could be combined with the pure Fairy Bloodline stored within the pool, transforming the baptizee directly into a Pureblood Fairy.

“Moreover, one of the system’s main functions—upgrading knowledge—offers little help to the fairy system, and my compatibility with the fairy Bloodline system is not very high either,” Lucian put down the book and turned his gaze toward the window.

By now, he had begun to piece together the true nature of the events surrounding him and realized he must have fallen into a trap set by a Formal Wizard, becoming a pawn on his chessboard.

“If it really is as I suspect, then that Wizard Heli’s methods are truly ruthless,” Lucian exhaled lightly.

“However, his schemes don’t conflict with my plans, at least in the beginning. To ensure the success of his own plans, Wizard Heli would probably wrack his brains to distract other Formal Wizards’ attention. For me, this presents the best opportunity to enhance my strength.”

“And once I’ve succeeded in advancing, it will be time to turn the tables,” Lucian revealed a slight smile.
