JUN’S POV

She’s safe. She’s safe.

I repeat the mantra silently, trying to calm my racing heart. But no matter how many times I say it, the image of Yiren trembling, pale and vulnerable, won’t leave my head.

As soon as my plane landed and I switched off flight mode, Meimei’s message popped up: "We’ve shifted to the construction site. Yiren’s office is too crowded, and nothing’s happening there."

My heart plummeted. Why didn’t she tell me sooner? A construction site at night is a recipe for disaster, and leaving Yiren there as bait felt like dangling a lamb in front of an animal.

By the time I reached the site, the disaster had already happened. It took every ounce of restraint not to barge in and rip that bastard’s head clean off his shoulders.

Meimei’s voice in my ear, calm yet urgent, held me back: "Wait, Jun. We have snippers ready to kill him if he make a move on her."

I clenched my fists, feeling utterly powerless, and watched through the live feed as Yiren navigated the last part with more bravery than I thought this little bunny is capable of.

And she didn’t even hesitate to poison herself. Stupid. Silly. My dream matter nothing in front of her life.

Every part of me screamed to storm in, consequences be damned. But Meimei’s voice cut through the chaos. "Zian and Suyin are nearby. Stay put for one more second."

One more second.

Trust me, it was the longest second of my life.

When I finally burst through the door, the sight of her shattered whatever restraint I had left. This is not how I envisioned to see her once I’m back. Yiren, crumpled on the floor, clutching Bear protectively in her arms, pale as a ghost.

Her eyes met mine, and the relief in her gaze was a punch to my gut. She was holding on—barely—but still holding on.

"Hey," I murmured, scooping her into my arms like she weighed nothing. She sank into me, and for the first time in what felt like an eternity, I could breathe again.

Her body trembled against mine, her voice barely a whisper. "Juju."

The name, once a playful tease, now sounded like salvation. I love when it comes from her mouth.

I’m pacing the length of the room, throwing out question after question like a broken record while Z and Suyin are with Yiren in the room.

My infuriating brothers are ignoring me, lounging on the couch, flipping through sports magazines as if nothing’s happened.

"Seriously? You came here to read magazines?" I snap, running a hand through my hair. "If you’re not going to help, just leave!"

Shishi doesn’t even look up as he flips a page.

"Bro why are you sitting out here instead of inside the room?"

"Then sit down and stop pacing. They are flushing her stomach. Not a glamourous process." he says, finally slamming the magazine shut and giving me an annoyed glare. "You’re giving me a headache."

I drop onto the armchair with a frustrated sigh. "You guys are impossible. Did you forget your own time? I’ve seen you both at your worst when your wives got hurt. Hulking out like maniacs, acting like the world was ending."

Jianyu chuckles, casually closing his magazine and leaning back. "Yeah, but the difference is... she’s not your wife."

"She’s my girlfriend," I say defensively.

"Is she?" Jianyu raises a brow, his tone dripping with skepticism as he folds his arms.

The room goes silent, and I can feel their gazes boring into me.

"W-What do you mean?" I stammer, my chest tightening under the weight of their scrutiny.

Shishi leans back, a smirk playing on his lips as he exchanges a glance with Jianyu. "Who’s going to tell him? You or me?"

"You do the honors," Jianyu replies with a lazy shrug, clearly enjoying my discomfort.

"Jun," Shishi starts, his tone annoyingly condescending, "stop pretending. We know you and Yiren are faking it."

"What?" I scoff, though my voice comes out more nervous than I’d like. "You’re mistaken. I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Jianyu leans forward, his sharp gaze locking onto mine. "Don’t insult our intelligence, baby bro. Do you think we wouldn’t notice the gaps in your little story? The rushed answers? The way you both avoid certain topics when we ask?"

"Not to mention," Shishi adds, "You’re an open book Jun. Even when you’re pretending, it’s written all over your face."

"Day one," Jianyu answers casually, flipping a page of his magazine. "We’ve had bets with our wives to see who among you two would fall in love first. Looks like they’re winning. They bet on you."

"Of course," Shishi says, smirking. "They’re smarter than you think. You thought you were fooling everyone in the family? Turns out, we’ve been watching your circus and placing bets."

"We’re brothers, Jun," Jianyu continues, his tone taking on that annoying older-brother-who-knows-everything edge. "We’ve known you your whole life and have practically changed your nappies. And we also know that whatever started as fake... it’s not fake anymore, is it?"

I run a hand down my face, the heat rising to my ears. It’s like they’ve peeled back every last layer of my defenses, leaving me completely exposed. Of course, they’d figure it out. They’re Fengs. They miss nothing.

I straighten in my chair. "Wow, wow... hold on. Yes, it’s true we’re faking, but it’s not what you think! We’re just good friends. Cough... maybe more than friends. But there’s nothing romantic between us."

They turn to each other, the unspoken sibling telepathy kicking in.
