JUN’S POV

The morning light filters gently through the parted curtains. There’s no trace of her warmth, no familiar scent, and I feel the absence of what’s quickly becoming my only way to fall asleep—and apparently, to wake up. I catch a glimpse of her outside, seated in the garden.

Last night? Wild doesn’t begin to cover it. The credit is all hers, pushing me to limits I didn’t know I had. I’ve had my share of memorable nights, but nothing, nothing compares to the fire she brought out.

No part of my body is unmarked. I check myself in the mirror; red lines trace across my back, arms, thighs, and even my azz. And the hickeys...everywhere.

She’s wilder and free-spirited more than I am. I was. Trust me she just looks cute but this little bunny has a hidden wild beast inside her. And this untamed side of her is everything I never realized I wanted.

If this is what it’s like to be with someone who is as charged and passionate as me—then, yes, I’m ready. Ready to free fall with her, to go deeper, to explore this intense, uncharted territory she’s opening up in me.

As I settle into the chair opposite her, coffee stolen and smirk firmly in place, I see her eyes heat over the marks on my neck. She’s trying to keep that poker face, but there’s no hiding that glint in her eyes.

"Morning," I say, savoring the coffee and letting my gaze roam over her. Wrapped in my oversized shirt, her hair loose and wild, she looks straight out of dream. My dream.

"Stealing my coffee already? Didn’t think you’d still be able to lift a cup after last night."

"Talk about yourself. How sore are you?"

She rolls her eyes, "I’m fine. You, on the other hand, look like you got run over by a truck." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

I chuckle, relishing the playful challenge in her tone. "Wanna test my strength? I might surprise you."

Faint blush spreads across her cheeks and neck. "Five times, Jun. I think even you have limits."

"But something tells me you’re not one to shy away from a challenge."

"Maybe. But don’t get cocky; just because you’ve survived one night doesn’t mean you can handle me."

"Survived?" I give a low laugh, shaking my head. "I thrived.

I don’t miss the way her gaze lingers on me, almost like she’s weighing her words. The mischief was back in her eyes. "Then I hope you’re prepared, Mr. Feng. Because I’m not planning on going easy on you."

Ah this familiar surge of excitement! "Bring it on, bunny."

Her smile widens, "Oh, I intend to."

Bear rubs himself against Yiren’s legs, showing her all the affection he can muster.

"Where did he come from?" I ask, amused by the sight.

"No idea. He was sleeping right by the door when I opened it," she chuckles, eyes bright with amusement. "Nearly gave me a heart attack. For a second, I thought a real bear had wandered over."

I laugh, easily picturing the scene. It’s not her fault—Bear really does look like a baby bear, all black fur and a round, squishy body. Hence the name.

As we head back to the mansion, I spot Chen, my chief of security, waiting by the entrance. Yiren excuses herself inside, and I follow Chen to a more private spot. The look on his face says he’s not here for small talk.

"This better be important, Chen," I say, a hint of irritation slipping through. My home is my sanctuary; interruptions are not taken lightly.

"It is," he replies, not wasting a second. "I have intel that Yifan’s been sniffing around Feng Enterprises higher-ups." He holds up his phone, flashing photos as he continues. "He’s been meeting with three of our directors and is getting close to the daughter of a fourth. Last week, we caught him meeting them in secret at different places."

I take the phone, CHECKING images. My mood sours instantly. Yifan and I have a tangled history—one that left a bitter taste. We were once close friends, rugby teammates back at university. We even talked about launching a business together, with me sharing a detailed idea I’d been working on. But he betrayed me, taking the plan behind my back and launching it solo.

But that’s not where the story ends. Years later, when I accidentally let Jianyu in on what Yifan had done- my brother dismantled Yifan’s entire business, eating it away like a termite, leaving it a hollow shell. Yifen has been holding a grudge for being the reason his company is barely a shell. If it was not for the business of his first wife which came in his hand after she died he would be on the streets begging.

Why would he meet with my directors out of nowhere? First, there was the attempt on my car designs, and now an enemy of mine is suddenly cozying up to my directors..... are these two incidents linked?

"Show me the details of the directors involved," I say, extending a hand for Chen’s iPad. He hands it over, and as expected, his research is impeccable, every file and note meticulously detailed.

Chen clears his throat. "The director whose daughter Yifan’s dating holds a major stake in a company you’ve been sourcing car parts from for years."

Oh. So he knows I’ve been buying car parts for years? Damn. "Should I be impressed or pissed that you didn’t back away from keeping an eye on me as well?"

"Sir, my apologies. But it’s my job. I need to keep my eyes everywhere." Of course, who am I to complain when he has saved my azz multiple times by watching me from the side even going against my orders?

"Sir, if I may," Chen adds feeling brave, "can you share what was in those boxes the driver delivered to your house and was killed? It’d help me understand the stakes better."

I consider this—Chen needs the full picture to see what is happening around me and how Yifan is a real threat. "Those boxes contained dismantled parts of the car I’m building. I’m working on a design from scratch to launch into the auto industry, aiming to acquire Hawthorn Engines—the top engine manufacturer in the market. Daryl Hawthorn, the chairman, has agreed to sell his company, but only to someone who can prove their worth and capability. He’s not selling to just anyone."
