YIREN (PART 2)

The gun is empty. I freeze, panic clawing its way up my throat.

"Wrong move," Cyrus’s lifts himself, dusts off his immaculate white clothes. His eyes darken with each step, his presence suffocating.

I step back, heart pounding wildly in my chest.

"You should have gone for the knife," he says, "Your chances would’ve been better."

My hands shake as I hold the useless gun, my mind racing, searching for something—anything—that could get me out of this. But he’s right. I should’ve gone for the knife.

Cyrus steps closer, his dark eyes boring into mine with a predatory gleam. I can feel the weight of my mistake like lead in my gut.

At that moment, a small, grenade-like object rolls into the room, bouncing across the floor with a soft clink before stopping at my feet. My heart races as it releases thick, choking smoke, quickly filling the room.

My lungs burn from the acrid air, and I can barely keep my eyes open as the stinging fumes tear at them.

I kicked Cyrus in the crotch and hit his head with the useless gun in my hand. He doubles over, holding his family jewels, crying like a pig that he is.

Chaos erupts. I catch a glimpse of a dark figure ducking behind the wall near the entrance, and everything inside me screams to grab the opportunity.

The air thickens, suffocating us, and I hear Cyrus cough, his voice strained and angry. "Find her!" he hisses to his men.

"Go guard the door. Don’t let her run!"

Using the smoke as cover, I duck into the corner where the body of the man Cyrus shot earlier lies. My hands shake as I rip at his blood-soaked shirt, desperate to cover my nose and mouth with something, anything to filter out the noxious fumes.

I press the fabric over my face, gagging at the metallic scent of blood. My body shakes as I crouch low, trying to keep out of sight.

Footsteps rush around the room and I hear the men scrambling to follow Cyrus’s orders, coughing and hacking as they try to navigate the smoky chaos. I stay as still as possible, my back pressed against the cold wall. I can hear Cyrus shouting through the fog, the fury evident in his voice.

"Find her, damn it!" he bellows again, his tone losing its earlier calm. "She couldn’t have gone far!"

I’m not sure how much time I have before one of them stumbles across me. The exit is blocked by Cyrus’s men, and I don’t have any weapons to defend myself.

The room feels like it’s closing in, the smoke too thick.

Suddenly, I feel something soft and furry nudge my feet, and I almost scream, but the familiar sensation of soft fur stops me. It’s Bear? Yes, he is. There’s a whiff of Jun’s fragrance on him. Relief washes over me as I feel his warmth and soft fur, his tail wagging furiously like a helicopter. A mask covers his mouth, probably due to smoke and prevent him from barking

Attached to Bear’s jacket is another mask. I quickly grab it and place it over my face, adjusting the straps as tightly as I can. It hurts, especially against my tender nose, which is still sore from the blows I took earlier. But the relief of being able to breathe clean air again is overwhelming.

Now, I can see clearly through the smoke. There are more men in the room, all dressed in black tactical gear—commandos. And with them is him. Jun.

He’s wearing a black tactical suit, a bulletproof vest strapped tightly to his chest, and his eyes behind the mask are burning with fury. He looks at me for a long moment, longer than necessary, his gaze raking over every inch of me as if he’s assessing every bruise, every injury, every tear.

Cyrus is still shouting orders, completely unaware that he’s now surrounded. He has no idea the tables have turned. He’s barking out commands like a madman, oblivious to the impending doom. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Jun moves swiftly, and with a powerful leap, he launches himself at Cyrus, his boot connecting with Cyrus’s chest in a devastating kick. The force of the blow sends Cyrus flying, crashing flat on the ground, gasping for breath.

Jun’s voice is deadly, low, vibrating with barely contained rage. "YOU DARE TOUCH HER!"

The room goes silent for a second, save for the muffled sounds of Cyrus trying to recover from the blow.

I’ve never seen Jun like this, not in all the years we’ve known each other. It’s like a storm is brewing inside him, threatening to explode.

Jun... He didn’t just sit idly by while I was being held captive here. He must have planned this—calculated every move, every step—plotting my rescue. But how did he know I was here? How did he manage to get here so fast?

My thoughts are interrupted when he strides toward me with a purposeful intensity, his eyes locked onto mine. Without saying a word, he scoops me up into his arms as if I weigh nothing. The air around him is tense, his body rigid with barely contained fury, but his hold on me is gentle, protective. I can feel the strength in his arms, the promise that nothing is going to hurt me anymore.

I want to ask a million questions—how he found me, why he’s here, why he looks like he’s ready to tear the world apart—but my throat is dry, and the words don’t come.

Bear, ever the loyal companion, trots dutifully beside us, his tail wagging like he’s been in on the plan the whole time, satisfied with his performance. He looks up at Jun with adoration, like his "daddy" just did the most amazing thing in the world, and in a way, he did. He saved me.

This isn’t the man I’ve been fighting with last night. This is someone else—someone I didn’t think he could be.
