YIREN’S POV

"Where is she?"

I scramble backward as Yifan barges inside, scanning the room for certainly Valentina. The other four men who look like bouncers dressed in black, check the bathroom, behind the curtain, inside the closet, damaging the property as they go.

"I. ASK. WHERE IS SHE?"

I tip my chin up, "I’m not your puck bunny you can talk like this."

"Bloody whore," three aggressive steps and he grabs my arms with a force that his nails dig into my skin, "I’m going to enjoy beating this attitude out of you just like others."

My brows furrow.

"Tell me where is Valentina or else—"

"Or else what?"

The color from Yifan’s face vanishes.

I smile, my confidence climbing high, "Your daddy is standing behind your back. I challenge you to use that word in front of him."

Yifan lets me go as if I scald him. I might be. Jun is standing with a gun in hand, light pours in behind him, making him look deadly--And HOT.

His eyes find me, and he lets out a breath of relief, "You okay, Bunny?"

"One hundred percent. It takes a man to hurt me."

He aims his gun at Yifan, "Another second you breathe the same air as my girl, and I’ll pull the trigger." That’s not a threat but a promise. I can see it in his eyes. More men pour in, all dressed in black.

Yifan raises his hand in surrender and scrambles back to where his men are.

"It’s okay, Jun. Mr. Yang was asking me something. Right?"

Yifan give me an enraged glare but he dare not call me a whore again. The air in the room becomes still when Xion walks in. He is dressed in black cargo, a black shirt with combat gear on his chest. A gun and a dagger strapped on his waist and two guns in his hand. There’s blood on his clothes.

I wonder what happened.

"Who damaged my property?"

Jun pulls me to his side, and Xion positions himself in front like an invincible shield.

My brows furrow.

I look at Jun in Question.

"Someone tried to bomb our headquarters."

Goosebumps break into my skin just thinking about the people. Our people. Our team. Yifan has taken the rivalry to this extent to not shy away from taking innocent lives.

Xion closes his eyes as if he is seconds away from setting everything on fire. "WHO. DAMMAGED. MY. PROPERTY?"

"It was these four men." I answer, "On Yifan’s orders."

Yifan scowls. Jun raises his gun and a shot echoes, hitting one of the bouncers in the knee. With a screaming yelp, he fell down on the floor, causing the other three to fall on their knees for mercy.

Eyes wide I look at Jun, unbelieving. He shakes his head and points at Xion who has smoke rolling out in waves from his gun.

"You cannot kill me," Yifan says.

"Why would I do that?" Jun scoffs. At his command, two men bring a woman inside and toss her on the floor. "Recognise her? She was leading a bombing attempt on my new company’s headquarters."

Ireine.

Yifan’s jaw ticks, fists clench.

"No."

"Let me help you. She happens to be the woman who birthed you."

Ireine remains quiet. I know she’s talking to Yifan with her eyes and subtle hand gestures.

"My mother left me when I was young. I have no relationship with her."

"I did this on my own, Junjie," Ireine says, " Your brother destroyed my son’s business. I just wanted my revenge. He had no idea I was going to bomb the headquarters."

Jun laughs, "You think I don’t know what you are trying to do?"

"You have no proof that my son was involved in it," Ireine says between clenched teeth, "Entire business world is downstairs, they know of your recent feud with Yifan. If anything happens to him, how will you answer them? If anything, you brothers love your image in the business world and don’t want it to taint."

"Who said anything is going to happen to him? We have a lovely race about to happen. A race I’m waiting for." Jun smiles as a realization hits them.

He orders his men to take Ireine away.

Yifan’s lips quiver for his mother but once more Ireine shakes her head. This time out in the open.

I watch as Xion walks to Yifan and aims the gun on his head. "I lost my two men because of your stupid schemes. Get lost before I lose my cool and slaughter you here."

"Shit," I whisper. This explains why Xion is breathing fire and the blood on his clothes.

Yifan’s men hauls the fourth one on shoulder, ready to leave. "They’ll stay."

Four pairs of eyes lock on Yifan in plea. He starts, "They—"

"You will receive the bill. I need the payment within an hour or else you will end up in my dungeon just like them."

"Of course, he wants to torture them in his dungeon," Jun mutters, then gives me a look. "Don’t ask anything about that place. It’s a hell on earth." His brows furrow at the red mark on my arm.

Yifan ignores the plea of his men and nods at Xion.

"Yifan?" Jun calls Yifan when he passes by him. As he turns, a solid punch lands on his nose, throwing him back, "For hurting Yiren. Next time, dare to touch her, I’ll set you on fire."

Jun’s pov

Xion’s Office on the cruise.

It took every ounce of my patience not to hand over Yifan to Xion. I know Xion is holding back only because of me. He loves his people, and this is like a personal loss to him. His men took the bullet while saving my engineers.

Ireine thought she could easily access the password to enter the main building. I have changed all my important passwords long back, leaving only a few that she can still access to keep her doubt-free.

Unknown to her, the security of the FJ headquarters is in Xion’s hand, and the tech is in Meimei’s. No one can beat the combo.

"Where is Valentina?" Yiren rubs her arms.

I wrap my suit jacket around her shoulder, "They are searching for her on the cruise."

I look at Jianyu, he shakes his head.

Dammit.

We lost her.

Even the sister we believed was present on the cruise wasn’t his sister but a paid actress. This was a setup to divert our attention so that Ireine could plant the bomb.

[Kristy is dead. He will kill us too. He killed others as well. Help me.]

[I’m going to enjoy beating this attitude out of you just like others.]

Meimei replayed the audio recording. "These two lines-- "Others" who are they talking about?"

Yiren bit her lips, "Does it mean I’m not the only target? He is seeking revenge on multiple people?"

"Or maybe only you and Valentina are alive while he killed others?" Suyin adds causing Yiren to cower, "I’m not scaring you. But think about this.... Kristy and Valentina are both related to you. So, I’m assuming "others" are somehow related or known to you as well?"
