"He is," Lilian says, stepping forward. Daryl nods at me. "You thought I ignored your warning? I just colluded with Xion and planned something better—but that’s for later. We heard Yiren is in danger. It’s my son, Jason. Along with Yifan and my stepbrother, they’ve planned all this to achieve personal gains.

"My stepbrother wants to replace Viktor as Pakhan and rule the Russian Mafia. Jason wants the company. And Yifan? He wants to bring Jun down and become the entrepreneur everyone bows to. To do all that, they need money—and what better than a gold mine?"

"Whoever owns the property owns the mineral rights too," Kai adds grimly. "That’s why they took Yiren."

"But Yiren and Ning haven’t gotten their inheritance yet. They neither married the men of their father’s choice nor showed three profitable years in business." I catch Kai averting his eyes. "What else?"

"There was a condition..." Kai swallows. "If the men chosen for them refuse to marry or die, they automatically receive their share. The one picked for Yiren refused to marry her, and the one chosen for Ning died in an accident three months ago. They now officially own the inheritance."

"But the lawyer never told us."

"Bribed. He’s with them. I suspect he’s the one who told Yifan about the gold mine."

"Bloody fucker." I grit my teeth. "Then why take only Yiren? They need Ning too, to claim the property."

"Because—" Kai looks down, shame clouding his face, "I already gave them Ning’s share to keep her safe. I tried with Yiren too, but she doesn’t sign any document without reading it. You... you empowered her with business lessons."

"The house rental." My stomach twists. "That’s why you asked Yiren to get a house for you—so you could sneak the property transfer papers in." That led to a misunderstanding between us... and then marriage. All this time, Kai was pulling the strings. I hate myself more than ever.

"Why didn’t you tell me? I would’ve helped you!" Xion braces his gear tighter, adding more ammunition to his jacket.

"Says the man who couldn’t save his pregnant fiancée," Kai snaps. "Why would I trust you with my wife and child?"

The room falls silent. Xion’s hand curls around his gun. "Careful, Kai," Xion warns coldly. "Don’t think I won’t put a bullet in your head just because I didn’t earlier."

Kai wilts under Xion’s glare. "I followed whatever they ordered. I tricked Ning into calling Yiren so she wouldn’t leave with Jun under heavy security. Then I faked sickness. I gave away your men’s locations... I did it all, watching a deadly assassin sit by my baby’s crib with a gun tucked under her clothes. I did it for Liam, and Papa."

"No! Don’t take his name!" Ning slaps him hard. "YOU DARE NOT! Because of you, Yiren is in danger. Liam is still with that assassin, and I have no fucking idea where Papa is. You put three lives at stake because you couldn’t overcome your bitterness toward your brother. I wish... I wish you had come clean from the beginning. None of this would’ve happened!"

Jianyu’s phone rings. He puts it on speaker. "I found Yiren’s location. She’s on a private island. Sending the coordinates now. Viktor’s already informed—he’ll take care of Jason and his uncle. I’m staying back to hack into every surveillance system that might block you or Viktor."

"Mei, I need your help while I rescue Liam from Blackwidow," Xion says briskly. "She’s a psycho bitch and dangerous. I’ll brief you on the way." He throws a glance at me. "Weapons are in my car. My team will go with you—you’ll need trained mercenaries."

"You’re going alone?" I ask.

"Just a few minutes ago, you held a dagger to my waist, and now you’re worried?" Xion chuckles darkly. "Contradictory emotions."

Yes, I am worried. He’s one of us. And the brutal truth? We need him.

"Fuck off."

He laughs under his breath. "Get her back, Jun. Love is precious. I don’t want another version of me moving around." His eyes soften slightly as he turns to Ning. "I’ll bring him back safely. That’s a promise."

We head to Bay Marina by air, then plan to use Bluebird K7 and our yachts to reach the private island. Viktor might be handling his uncle and the corrupt side of the Russian Mafia, but that doesn’t mean the island will be clean.

Jianyu and I move together while Shishi waits with the medical team on standby—our good old setup.

Suyin has already joined Meimei in her office, helping remotely. My brothers always work better when they know their wives are safe.

On the way, Meimei sends us the surveillance footage of when Yiren was taken.

I slam my fist against the car door, my rage barely contained, watching the horror unfold.

Yiren’s SUV spirals across the road like it weighs nothing.

Sasha climbs out the window and fights like hell, but there are just too many of them. Six bullets. Six damn bullets. I’ll make sure Sasha’s family is taken care of for life.

One masked man points a gun at the driver, and moments later, Yiren—hurt, clutching her waist—stumbles out.

"Broken ribs. Two for sure, maybe more. Ankle sprain, bruises, a cut on her head, and I’m suspecting a concussion," Shishi mutters, his voice tight with worry.

They are all masked. One of them ushers her toward a car. She moves obediently, but I can read her body language—she’s plotting something. My brave, stubborn girl.

I wish I could know what they are talking about, but even the lip-reading software is not working because of them wearing mask. The wolf crest though, it’s Viktor’s Uncle’s.

The man throws her into the car, and just as he’s about to slam the door—

Yiren kicks it into his face.

"That’s my girl," I mutter under my breath.

She points the gun at the bleeding man, warning the others to back off.

"Where the hell did she get the gun?" Jianyu mutters.

The next moment, Yiren closes her eyes—and fires.

The shot hits the man square in the chest.

"Damn. I thought she was bluffing," Jianyu says.

"Apparently not." I’m bursting with pride. She’s not a trained shooter, but hell, she’s holding her own. Her slight movements of her lips tell me—she’s counting seconds? The leader as well, keeps checking his watch, growing agitated.

Yiren warns him again, her hands trembling, her body bloody and bruised, but still fighting.

She closes her eyes—and that moment of vulnerability gives him the opening.

He kicks her.

Hard.

She crashes into the car with a bloodcurdling scream.

Rage blinds me. I grip the edge of my seat until my knuckles turn white.

"No one touches him but me," I growl. "I’m going to kill him. Slowly."

Yiren struggles to rise, but the strength leaves her. Tears slip down her battered face.

’I love you, Jun. I wish I could have seen you win today,’ she mouths before slumping into unconsciousness.

Oh, Bunny. I love you too. Just hold on.

Two masked men roughly haul her into a car and drive off.

Barely a few minutes later, Xion’s team arrives on the scene—but it’s too late.

For now.

But I swear... I’ll burn the world if I have to. I’m coming for you, Yiren.
