Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers

Without waiting for any more nonsense, Wren Wynter hung up the phone.

’We’re all adults. Can some wounds really be healed with a simple apology?’

Besides, she didn’t believe Seraphina Sutton had suddenly grown a conscience.

But not long after she hung up, Seraphina Sutton called again.

One call failed, so she made another.

Wren blocked the number, but Seraphina just used a different one to call again.

It was beyond annoying.

Wren’s patience had run out.

"Seraphina Sutton, what the hell do you want? If you really feel so bad about breaking up Kaden Xavier and me, then go to Kaden Xavier! Stop fucking bothering me!" Wren finally snapped, letting out a curse.

"Dr. Wynter, that’s not what I meant," she said through sobs. "I’m sorry. I never thought I’d cause you and Kaden to end up like this. Please, can you forgive me?"

"It’s just the two of us on this call. Who are you putting on an act for?"

’But, I have to admit, Kaden falls for this act every time.’

"If this is all you wanted to talk about, then I don’t think we have anything more to say. Goodbye."

Wren quickly hung up and blocked Seraphina’s number again.

Meanwhile, in an apartment at Azure Dragon Bay.

Seraphina Sutton gripped her phone, her expression dark. The fury in her eyes was practically overflowing.

’That bitch Wren Wynter, does she really think she’s so great?’

’If it weren’t to force a meeting with her, I would never humiliate myself by apologizing.’

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK—

Suddenly, there was a knock on the apartment door. Seraphina quickly composed herself, smoothed out her clothes, got up, and walked to the entryway to open it.

Nathaniel Quinn stood outside, holding a cake and some fruit.

Seeing it was Nathaniel Quinn, a flash of disappointment crossed Seraphina’s heart.

’Why isn’t it Kaden?’

"Seraphina, I came to see you. You haven’t been out to hang with us lately. I heard Cole locked you up."

Seraphina forced a smile. Turning away like a wronged, pitiful damsel, she put on a brave face and shook her head, but her voice choked with a sob. "No, Kaden is just doing what’s best for me and the baby."

"Cole can be so stubborn. Asher Lynch is already dead, so what’s the point of keeping his kid? You’d be better off getting rid of it sooner rather than later. That way, you two can finally be together."

Nathaniel Quinn’s tone was filled with confusion.

In his mind, Seraphina Sutton and Kaden Xavier were the real couple. Whether it was Asher Lynch or Wren Wynter, they were just third parties getting in the way.

"Seraphina, have you been crying? Who bullied you? Was it Wren Wynter again? I knew it! She definitely doesn’t want to divorce Cole; she’s just playing hard to get. You just wait, I’ll go teach her a lesson for you."

Noticing Seraphina’s red-rimmed eyes, Nathaniel Quinn had asked anxiously.

Seraphina shook her head. "I’m fine, Nathaniel. I just wanted to apologize to Dr. Wynter. Also, please don’t say things like that anymore. It’s not good for Kaden, and it’s disrespectful to Asher. Right now, I just want to have a healthy baby. I don’t want to think about anything else."

"Besides, I’ve already caused you and Kaden too much trouble. I don’t want to bother you guys anymore."

"How could it be a bother? Your business is Cole’s business. Don’t worry, I’m going to find that woman, Wren Wynter, and settle the score right now."

Nathaniel Quinn turned to leave, but Seraphina quickly stopped him, her demeanor delicate and gentle.

"It really has nothing to do with Dr. Wynter. It’s all my fault. Nathaniel, there’s something I need to ask you for help with, but I don’t know if you’d be willing."

"Just say the word! If it’s something I, Nathaniel Quinn, can do, I won’t hesitate for a second!"

Nathaniel Quinn puffed out his chest. Watching his simple-minded display, Seraphina’s lips curled into a slight smile.

The next morning, Wren Wynter woke up to find that Kaden Xavier hadn’t come back all night.

’Good riddance!’

She changed her clothes, had a few bites of breakfast, and got ready to leave for work.

Just as she stepped out the door, a figure rushed toward her and grabbed her arm.

Those captivating yet pitiful-looking eyes were all too familiar to Wren.

"Seraphina Sutton, what are you doing?"

"Dr. Wynter, you wouldn’t see me, so I had to come see you. I’m sorry, please just forgive me. If you forgive me, I’ll do anything you ask."

As she spoke, Seraphina Sutton dropped to her knees, stunning Wren, who had no idea what she was plotting.

"Seraphina Sutton, what are you doing? Get up!"

Wren reached out to help her up, but Seraphina had no intention of letting her off the hook. She gripped Wren’s sleeve tightly and refused to let go.

View Gardens was a wealthy neighborhood, and the surrounding neighbors were all prominent, high-society families in The Capital. Seeing such a commotion happening at Wren’s place, they were all eager to come over and watch the drama unfold.

After all, who doesn’t love a bit of gossip?

"Seraphina Sutton, I don’t care what your goal is, but the ground is cold, and it’s not good for the baby. If you don’t want something to happen to your child, get up," Wren advised, her doctor’s ethics taking over.

’She knew Seraphina’s pregnancy had always been unstable. Even though she was past the most dangerous first trimester, the risk of miscarriage was still high if she wasn’t careful.’

’Otherwise, she really wouldn’t have bothered!’

"Dr. Wynter, I’m so sorry. I’m the one who caused you and Kaden all this trouble and distress. Please, don’t be mad at me, okay? I’ll kowtow to you!"

Without another word, Seraphina Sutton began to kowtow to Wren.

Wren was at a loss for words. She decided to just stand still and wait for Seraphina’s next move.

Just then, Nathaniel Quinn popped out of nowhere, pointing at Wren with eyes full of fury.

"Wren Wynter, how could you let a pregnant woman like Seraphina kneel and apologize to you? You’re so vicious!"

"I didn’t make her kneel and kowtow to me. I already told her I wouldn’t forgive her, but she’s relentless."

"Then just forgive her! If you forgive her, she’ll stop begging you, and she won’t have to kneel and kowtow anymore."

Nathaniel Quinn’s words hit Wren like a sledgehammer.

’So they were trying to guilt-trip me.’

’They were putting on this show for everyone to see, all to force me to forgive Seraphina Sutton.’

Wren stood her ground, looking at Seraphina Sutton and Nathaniel Quinn with a cold smile.

"And why should I forgive her? If your wife spent every day with another man, defended him, and ran off every time he called, what would you do?"

"You! You’re talking nonsense!" Nathaniel Quinn’s face flushed red.

The wealthy wives watching the show immediately started giving Seraphina Sutton and Nathaniel Quinn strange looks. Some of the bolder ones even began to comment out loud.

"I was wondering what this was all about. So she’s the other woman. Miss Wynter, if I were you, I wouldn’t just forgive her—I’d slap her face raw."

"Exactly! If my Old Zhao dared to find another woman, I’d divorce him the very next day!"
