Nathaniel Quinn opened the apartment door. The entire place was pitch-black, a single beam of light piercing the darkness as he pushed the door open.

Seraphina Sutton was curled up on the sofa. Her face, buried in her knees, slowly lifted to fix a vacant gaze on Nathaniel Quinn, who stood at the door.

"Seraphina, how did you end up like this?"

Nathaniel Quinn walked over to Seraphina Sutton and crouched down, looking at her with a pained expression.

"Nathaniel, Kaden won’t see me. He refuses to see me."

Seraphina Sutton’s eyes were red and swollen, clear evidence that she had just been crying. Tears still clung to the corners of her eyes, and tear tracks stained her cheeks.

Seeing this, Nathaniel Quinn let out a long sigh.

’In the past, he might have been able to confidently promise to help her.’

Seraphina Sutton’s features were twisted in a tormented grimace, her hands clenched into tight fists, an unconcealable hatred burning in her eyes.

Looking at the venomous woman before him, Nathaniel Quinn suddenly felt like he didn’t know this Seraphina Sutton at all.

’Was her kind and understanding nature all a lie?’

"Nathaniel, will you help me kill her? Just like you helped me kill Grace Wynter. Kill her! As long as she’s dead, Kaden won’t refuse to see me anymore. You want Kaden and me to be together, right? We’re a match made in heaven!"

"Seraphina, calm down!" Nathaniel Quinn grabbed Seraphina Sutton’s shoulders, forcing her to look him in the eyes.

But Seraphina Sutton was completely unable to calm down.

The dignified and gentle Seraphina Sutton of the past was gone, replaced by a disheveled woman who looked no better than a shrew.

Nathaniel Quinn’s face was a mask of exasperation.

He thought that perhaps if Kaden Xavier came to see her just once, Seraphina Sutton would return to her old self.

Seraphina Sutton froze, instinctively glanced down at herself, a flustered look appearing on her face.

She scrambled off the sofa, ran wretchedly into the bathroom to splash water on her face, then rushed back to her room and began to tidy herself up.

Seeing that she was no longer acting hysterical, Nathaniel Quinn breathed a temporary sigh of relief and decided to find Kaden Xavier to discuss what to do.

Wren Wynter and Kaden Xavier were leaving the police station.

They both had mixed feelings, at once happy and sad.

Happy that there was a new development in the case, but sad because that development was so discouraging.

"No, thanks. I have to make a trip to A University," Wren Wynter refused Kaden Xavier’s offer.

Today was the day of the A University medical department competition, and she wanted to see how her students were doing.

"Cole." Nathaniel Quinn knew Kaden Xavier was at the police station, so he had come to find him.

Wren Wynter shot Nathaniel Quinn a dirty look, then pointed at him and snapped at Kaden Xavier, "Kaden Xavier, is this your idea of handling things? Didn’t you say you were going to make him turn himself in?"

"Wren, let me explain. It’s not what you think..."

"Then what is it? He’s standing right here in front of me, perfectly fine, while my aunt almost died!"

Wren Wynter was once again disappointed in Kaden Xavier.

Wren Wynter could only respond to Nathaniel Quinn’s changed attitude with silence.

"You must be joking, Miss Wynter. I never expected you to forgive me. I’m telling the truth. And I owe you an apology." He took a step back and gave a deep bow in Wren Wynter’s direction. "Miss Wynter, I’m sorry."

Wren Wynter was stunned.

’She thought she knew what kind of person Nathaniel Quinn was: conceited, arrogant, and condescending, someone who did whatever he pleased just because his family had some money.’

’Ever since she married Kaden Xavier, he had always looked down on her, thinking she was completely unworthy of him.’

’But his attitude today was a complete one-eighty from before.’

"I don’t accept your apology. I will never forgive what you’ve done."

Wren Wynter replied coldly, then completely ignored Nathaniel Quinn and Kaden Xavier, hailed a cab, and left.

Nathaniel Quinn stood there, a bitter smile on his face.

Kaden Xavier patted his shoulder, and Nathaniel Quinn could only respond with a nod.

"I understand. If it were my family who had been harmed, I would never forgive that person either."

"Then you should go less often from now on." Kaden Xavier lowered his hand. "I only took care of her in the first place for Asher’s sake. Besides, she was carrying Asher’s last bloodline. Now that the baby is gone, for old times’ sake, I’ve already given her enough money to live on for the rest of her life, but she’s still not satisfied."

Nathaniel Quinn was silent for a moment. After a while, he finally looked up and solemnly asked the question he had been holding back for a long time.

"Cole, weren’t you and Seraphina in love with each other?"

"Who told you that?"

"Seraphina... I mean, that’s what I thought."

Kaden Xavier cut in, his voice icy. "I have never had any feelings for her."

"Then why were you going to divorce Wren Wynter before...?"
